Cynthia Kila’ It’s TOO MUCH structure that’s my problem. That just encourages overwhelming stress to be normal and standardizing depression at a young age. There are a lot of parents who don’t allow their children to pursue their own interests because it’s not compatible with their schedule, personal beliefs, or image. Allowing free time means allowing children to think for themselves. Some parents rely on a schedule because allowing their child the opportunity to express themselves and make their own friends is scary; they might not like what they see.

Too much of a Good thing Can Be Bad

I'm not. Trust me. I was raised with no TV because "it was the devils tool". Technology just echos what goes on in the real world: good and bad. As parents we try to protect our kids from the bad as long as possible, while encouraging with the good. So, why not monitor your children's screen time and websites? There's a lot of good, educational stuff out there that isn't all taught in school.

Theres a difference between technology and the internet. To not teach your kids how to use a computer in this day and age will be holding them back (well no need until highschool i mean) I was had alot of free range but when I was super young the internet was a simpler place and as a teen my mum was so untrustworthy of the internet I literally had to teach HER how/when you can trust websites or information on it lol.

There is a thing called moderation. If you cant control the timing with your kids why are you a parent ? These days no one goes out with friends cause crimes and no one speaks to each other at home cause they are busy. What will the kids do ? Many kids are glued to their screen because that is the only thing that doesnt make them feel lonely. If you play your cards right and raise them without them feeling out of place ...then you don't need to worry.

I think kids have too much internet, especially with their phones. It's bad for their development and self esteem. But I would also want them to be internet savvy and be able to interact with their peers normally. Plus the internet is a great learning tool. I think some unstructured time away form the computer is good. Seeing those kids play 'olden times' was so adorable.
