Trust me, I know how bad war is. One of my relatives fought in 6th of October war and he said that Israeli Apaches were shooting his men left and right. They left him alive so he can die alone in the desert, however this madlad didn't have any intentions on death and went from Suez Canal to Cairo ON FOOT. He was the only one who survived.
Dodging hot lead is no fun. Same for being blown up. The worst, though, is being *Hunted.* Didn’t need to go overseas to have that happen, either. Military wouldn’t take me, because of stuff I was born with. (No hearing on right side.) Same thing, however - and stuff that went with it… that meant being divorced from humanity, and being seen as less-than-human. Hunted like an animal, being called a disease… (shudders.) Only being in Auschwitz would have been much worse - which would have been the full meal, and not the appetizer that I got.
