If nato joined the conflict it would rapidly be the end of the world so I'm not sure anyones getting a landslide victory from ashes. Plain and simply westerners aren't all that excited to have a global thermonuclear war over an ex soviet state that's little more than quality real estate. I'd love a good ground conflict, some conventional combat would put a real pain in Ivan's ass but that's been out of the question since humanity has owned enough war heads to carpet bomb the landmass of earth with ground zeros.
