Thank you for this Marcus it bee great to see you review the chippy last time we had it wasn't worth the money you should review it next week ha ha when I'm there so I can meet you
Another excellent video as always, as for reviewing the fish & chip shop YES!!! definitely, and one day please try Maundys fish & chip shop by us in North Cornelly, lovley fish and chips, and curry sauce of course 😁
Brings back memories of when I was a kid and stayed in Treco for miners fortnight. Same time the Radio 1 roadshow used to visit town. Love you to do a video with memories of the roadshow visits
Marcus the marquis of travel now( by royal appointment on royal jubilee Sunday) thankyou you dear Marcus on your commitment to travel and adventure most appreciated to you and your betroved how is she .hope your enjoying the jubilee best wishes to you both.
Another great video Marcus. That’s my usual walk with my dog when I’m home from Middle East. Back in august next and looking forward to it too. Take care and keep posting 👍👍
We were just there, on Wednesday Marcus, on Trecco Beach, it was glorious and as you said busy.. And Thursday, we walked around the park and to Newton beach, then back through the park to the static caravan. It was really really windy, proper 'sand in the face' windy.. Fabulous weather, but the rain came back on Friday as I returned to pick up the Grandkids. So, it's safe to say we had the best 'beach day' out of last week. Best wishes to you, from Wales (too).
Me, my brothers and mam used to spend the whole school summer holidays in the bull ring touring caravan park. Just below the shops that are no longer there. Fond memories. We would go to the amusements on a Friday for a treat because they used to be half price. Definitely review the fish and chip shop. Any ideas when they will finish the harbour wall?
The Sandy Bay bowl, the only time they use it now is for camping during the Elvis festival. No idea when they will finish the sea wall, still looks at least another month.
Great video as always. I walked there in April from Coney Beach to the Ogmore River, and into the sand dunes, and back to Park Dean. Did you see Robinson Crusoe house on Newton?
@@tykeflo8362 I've walked that area many times, don't think I've noticed it built as big as it looks in the pics. Have to go back and take a look. (Who built it?)
another great vid, been about 30 years since i lived in a bedsit on new rd for 3 years before i joined the army...please dont tell me there is no more wimpy burger place in the fair :(...plus what was the name of the pub/club just outside trecco towards the fair...the Dirty Duck????plus i noticed, the old sea cadet building has gone by the harbour?
The Wimpy has gone, it's now the place called the "Chick King". The area at 8:25 where the containers are, that's where the Dirty Duck used to be. Yes, they knocked down the old Sea Cadet hut, they now use a portacabin by the lifeboat station. They were meant to have an area in the new development at Cosy Corner but that went 'pear shaped' last year.
Brilliant.i walked along the stream near bridgend looking at banks.found what i think was roman potery.and small peice other with some strange patern very old looking
@@flydriveexplore i do like messing about. Im going explore more and let you know. What you think the chances are of finding some gold. Even if no chance im going yo mess around lol one little speck would be enough for me.
I like to think that when you first started videoing at the unearthly hour of 6 am that dear, old Mel was probably still snuggly tucked up in her warm comfortable bed blissfully dreaming of Jumbo Sausages & chips - and who could fault her for that? I dare say that Mel would make a fitting muse for a reworking of Peter Sarstedt's haunting song - "Where Do You Go To My Lovely (when you're alone in your bed)" Incidentally, have it on good authority from a very obliging bank teller when I had the occasion to pop into that very Lloyds bank on John Street, that the best Jumbo Sausage & Chips is to be had from Finnegans Fish & Chip shop - which is just under 5 minutes away. She wasn't wrong. It was so big that I couldn't gobble all of it and so ended up feeding the last 4 inches to the circling seagulls. It goes without saying that you and Mel should definitely conduct a full review of the Parkdean Fish and Chippery. I want to know how good their Jumbo Sausages are along with their curry sauce. I don't suppose you or Mel are into cockles or whelks? I love them drenched in buckets of malt vinegar and a few twists of black pepper - all followed down with a nice big dollop of strawberry ice cream. By-the-way, lovely shots at 14' 57'' of the beautiful sea gently lapping the shore. I just wished you returned at midday so I could gauge just how busy the beaches became - I'm not a great fan of playing sardines on a beach with shouty mothers and screaming kids.
Thanks for the comments, this one hasn't been removed by YT yet. We will be trying the chip shop down Trecco Bay soon. Finnegans just off John Street is also our usual chip shop of choice. They do a Sausage Special!
I have'nt been to Trecco Bay for over 40 years, it seems to have changed a lot, (better or worse I have no idea?) but in my mind there did not seem to be a beach full of pebbles as in your vid? but I have no pics so cannot prove it! looking at the area you went through with the touring caravans, that was new to me? I cannot remember such a large area of open space at all, I seem to remember it was all caravans, it was an enormouse caravan site 40+ years ago, just had to look it up on google maps, it is half what it used to be, totally changed. Further to you talk about Coney Beach I was told over 40 years ago or even further back that Coney Beach was named after Coney Beach in Brooklyn New York, I cannot remember why? maybe you know.
My wife and I walked this route many times.Travelled fifty miles many times just to eat at the Trecco Bay fish shop .It used to be called Lee’s then.We used to stay at the Newton end in our caravan days. There used to be a nice cafe on the council park in those days but all gone now.I called the fish and chip shop Lee’s but I meant Lew’s.
@@flydriveexplore The fish shop I referred to was in the part of Trecco Bay village where the shops are.You pointed to it and said you may pay them a visit,in your video.Sometimes we used to walk this way but the ot her way round.
@@terrycollett1461 We will be trying that place out shortly, we'll see what it's like. It's called the Fish and Chippery now and run directly by Parkdean.
@@flydriveexplore I’ve seen the chap who used to run it when we used it and I’ve spoken to him and he said he had retired. We hope to be renewing our Porthcawl visits soon so look out.Remember l know you but you don’t know me.It won’t be for a while but that’s the plan.
I have done parts of it in my Nottage and Cornelly videos. I am planning a walk from Cefn Cribwr Junction down to Porthcawl. Big parts have been now been covered by the road of Junction 37
Hey Marcus was hoping to see the sea front wall what work are they doing there? We are on holiday at trecco from tomorrow maybe we will see you there one day 🤞
It's relatively flat with plenty of elevators and the way into town is pedestrianised. To us, it looked OK. Although as we're not wheelchair users we wouldn't have noticed any possible issues.
Incidentally a mercenary was known to retire there to Trecco bay may be still alive enjoying retirement sure been ten years retirement for him already hope he’s still with us the best at what he does worldwide reknown soldier of fortune his dream place of rest and play.
The waves come from low pressure from the Atlantic. We've had a period of very nice weather and high pressure (no waves). This area of South Wales and Devon and Cornwall are popular surfing areas. Take a look at this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qLAhLqQ7Pwk.html
Trecco Bay is the beach by Parkdean caravan site and Sandy Bay is the bay in front of the fair which incudes Coney Beach. I don't think I ever said Sandy Bay was part of Trecco Bay.
