At least at the end of the day, it showed. No wrestling fan ive encountered has EVER had an unkind word about The Undertaker character, and that says ALOT in this day in age where everyone is so negative. Especially online
Every once in a while you get an autistic Meltzer fan that whines about wrestlers’ court but that’s only because people like them don’t understand any sort of social interaction or hierarchy in any environment. That, coupled with the fact that people like that usually detest the concept of accountability.
I want taker to know As fans, we can TELL you gave it your best. Thats why youre so respected in a world thats very negative about wrestling. Everyone effs up spots, but what fans really can't forgive is laziness or apathy. You really cared, and it showed.
I love your podcast so much . I brought my son to see you in Pittsburgh when he was 5. He lived the undertaker, and we got to come back stage. You were so kind and he always talks about how awesome you were! He's 15 now and he doesn't watch wrestling since you left. Thank you for the years of entertainment and memories. Aside from the larger than life presence of the character and the epic entrances, Undertaker always gave everything he ever had and it really showed, even when he wasn't 100%, in fact most of the times, you never even knew he was hurt because he never told anyone nor did he make any excuses as he cared so deeply about the fans. He's not only a true wrestling legend but one of the toughest guys to ever step in the ring
imagine saying something to Sir Undertaker and getting a chokeslam to Sir Undertaker saying "Did you hear that" when someone just jokes about him.. He has the most genuine manly smile, love to see him enjoying everything he deserves
As someone who lives around an hour away from Hamilton I can see them behaving the way Taker is saying. Montreal is by far the best crowd in Canada. Toronto’s a close second, although it’s where Rock/Hogan happened!
I'm from Hamilton. I seen a lot of wrestling when I was young. Especially Maple Leaf Wrestling at the Gardens in Toronto. I guess it was at a time where the scripts where hidden from the audience. The audience was made to believe that this is real. The big controversy was..."Is this real? If it is no one could survive that punch to the face by a 300 pound wrestler ". Eventually the fans were allowed to understand and accept it as sports entertainment. That transition was delicately done over time and it was done very well. The punishment was real not the story lines. Now everyone understands the entertainment aspect. It's the culture. But again back in the day to see a drop kick to the head completely miss......as a young kid we wondered why the wrestler on the receiving end was hurt! Thus reinforcing our suspicions that wrestling wasn't real. We're talking 4 decades ago. I think the Hamilton culture was at the tail end of that era accepting choreographed wrestling. At times you were more upset with the writers than you were the wrestlers. (Long story short....it wasn't personal lol) This is the first time I ever seen this topic discussed. I would love to be a guest on the show because I believe this needs further discussion 😊 I'm 57 years old. I started seeking off to Toronto to see the stars when I was 16. Don't dislike us, were normal now lol
5:27 yeah but the kick out of a special move the Undertaker and I feel like Triple H kind of invented I've said this before but when that happened at WrestleMania that shit was crazy so it was pretty dope and then to end it with a submission come on that's pretty freaking awesome
my father and i were there when he faced Ric flair for the title in 91/92? in US airways arena DC. my dad was 6’6 ans huge. he was never more impressed with someone than Mark. esp the running press slam

There's 5 ppl in the car lol but bearer quits mid trip, fuji is definitely in jail, curt and Owen both go to the asylum and I'm the last man standing. You did say that I was going on the trip :-)
