With all of his knowledge and experience, I think Bun B should be a consultant for all aspiring artists. This will STOP these labels from taking advantage of a lot of these artists. One of the realest interviews. Ive turned down so many deals over the years, i was lucky enough to work and keep my head above water, learned publishing and since 2012 had music licensed in over 55 countries and im in timbalands beatclub. Wasnt easy, a lot of struggle and sacrifice for years. But i understand like Bun said, for some people, going back aint a option. Much respect thats real talk

Yes people don't realize the grind....master P moved out to Richmond California and was selling out the trunk and a had a small record shop early. Some of the early NO Limit guys were bay area. He put out tapes for years prior to his Priority situation. He learned the whole game inside out and came to the door with a situation backed off a catalog independently.

Me and my rap crew almost signed with Def Jam Records in 1998,we sent our demo to my wife’s cousin and they were jamming it in New York,so a manager of Def Jam wanted to meet us and set up a deal, we didn’t go for the deal because we saw that the money wasn’t right,knowing what I know now,God knows I’m glad we didn’t accept their offer

Even when artist sign “bad deals” the bad part is only relative to other artists. They still make millions of dollars in a lot of cases. That beats working a 9-5 if you’re getting millions to do what you love, making music.

it's easy to say educated yourself but unless you have the experience, someone experienced by yourself willing to guide you, or a business degree level of education, they are gonna screwed over. what are you gonna do? hire a lawyer? you better be lucky you you get a lawyer who won't try to screw you over as well. even if you know the record labels wanna screw you over they will still f you over with all the technicalities in the contract. the education you need isn't something you can learn in a few weeks or even months. Most of these young rappers can't read and comprehend Charles Dickens novel. more a business contract written in a way to confuse them.
