This week i built a trailer for my dog smudo. I wanted the trailer to look like an actual camper. he loves it and it makes it a lot safer to get him from the city into the park!

Top quality craftsmanship as usual. Some neat tricks in there as well. I particularly like the trick of using the washer to get a consistent flange for the windows.

Cutting on a slab of insulation. SMART. I always have problems supporting work, cutting into sawhorses, overbalancing things or just hitting the workbench with my jigsaw. This one thing will change my life. THANK YOU.

That washer idea was mind blowing. I would have used pop rivets to hold the tin down. It takes a little longer but it looks so much cooler.

Very nice trailer! I would suggest to add a security wire that clips to the bike and catches the trailer in the event that the trailers rubber silent block coupling would become loose.

That is one chill dogo. Might I suggest something? It looks like the roller cover isnt secured down and just relies on the weight to keep it there. That is going to rattle something fierce, maybe use something like magnets to keep it in place and doesn't ruin the clean look.

Excellent project! I liked the tips you showed with using the washer to make an outline, and the double sided tape to get the same spot for the biscuit joiner! Also, it's Smudo approved!

I love this step by step video and I think you're so cool for having these skills. I love wood working but I have zero tools. This made me want to fund a way to get space and buy some. I have dogs too and I've been searching for a dog trailer thats more than Nylon. This came out so AWESOME!

I would suggest you to apply a double couple of small magnets at the end of the wooden cover and on the main body in order to block it when it’s closed! However great job, it’s always mesmerizing to watch your editing skills! :)

your dog is always so willing to try stuff out... I would maybe add something to the upright from the trailer to the bike to block stuff thrown from the tires from smudo's face (unless he will tolerate goggles, dog goggles are awesome) and a small safety chain at the end if all that flexible link is made of is a rubber bushing

Very enjoyable again - and some great practical tricks included. You might want to add some basic suspension for Smudo, though. At least our kids wouldn't like their ride much if it hadn't suspension ... and since Smudo is roughly their size I bet he'll love a little less bumpy ride. That said love the video - every bit of it. Thank you and cheers! JM

Just lovely. We have a canvas kiddies trailer that our dog went in a couple of times. She wasn't keen lol. We've not tried our other dog in it yet. I don't know how he'll take it lol.

Laura, not sure if you did or not but you should put some little latches on the hinged part that lifts up where Smudo gets in, that way if you go down some rough street or something and the trailer is jumping up and down a little the back door part won’t pop up with the bumps and Smudo will not fall out backwards. I know this is not likely to happen but just a thought to be on the safe side and the door will be secured. 👍🏼
