Yes it really is - I live with a before birth-to-death disability (plus other health conditions), I heard a saying last year "living with disability (and/or chronic illness) is like having a fulltime job, that you cant clock off from"..and it is so true. Your necessary daily medical routine etc, plus the aspects CailinMarie mentions above regarding all your appointments, therapies, tests etc, and the paperwork - you really do need to stay on top of it all, to keep your life (and body) running as well as you can.

Can you maybe do a video in the future about your life right before you "got sick". 😀That sounds like quite a silly thing but I'm interested. I know you mentioned you started getting sick in high school. What was that like, when did you start to think you had problems that weren't the norm (like clues to chronic illness)? How were the doctors? What symptoms appeared first and how did that affect your life? I'm in high school right now, and in the past few years my health has declined a good bit. I'm being tested for chron's currently and terrified out of my mind when RU-vid decided to recommend this to me. Seeing that your mornings aren't absolutely different from mine is actually really calming, so thank you so so much for making this video and being so honest about things. As much as I hope I don't have chron's (because who does) I no longer feel like my world will be over if I find out I do have it

Hi! I have crohns! I was diagnosed at 16. But I have been having symptoms since about 15. Some weeks it was sooo bad that I’d miss school for a week to 2 weeks because of how bad I felt. I lost 15lbs each time these ‘episodes’ would happen. Couldn’t eat one thing, not even rice, crackers, bread... My gastro put me on medication to see if it would help at all but it didn’t after a while and a bunch of medical testing (nothing was showing) so I got my 1st colonoscopy. (Very annoying thing to do hahah 0/10 recommended). After finally being diagnosed, I transferred to a pediatric gastroenterologist at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. I was on pills for a long time which didn’t do anything for me. Then I was put on steroids which made me gain a crappp ton of weight (on top of the 4 other pills so like 11 pills a day but I was slowly leaning off the steroids). Steroids didn’t do much for me so then I tried multiple other medications, still nothing. Now I’m on Remicade which is an infusion. I also get iron infusions sometimes because my iron gets super low. About a month ago I had my 2nd colonoscopy and 1st endoscopy and the results were good! Everything is going smoothly except for one part of my colon that was inflamed but it’s okay. I get my infusions every 6 weeks and I’m not on any pills (finally omg) It honestly ruined my life because I was planning on going into the military but with a chronic illness I really couldn’t. I’m only 18 now and I’m a criminal justice major planning to become a police officer, so I hope everything continues to go as planned. I still have symptoms of course, just not as frequent and as painful. It’s going to be hard but keep your head up. If you have any questions I’m more than happy to answer!

Samantha Masciulli you don’t really take pills with crohns unless like iron or some other thing that goes with the infusion or the pill would probably be it’s own medication instead of taking an infusion that’s from my experiences after going through like 6

Otherwise I would be so fatigued I wouldn’t be able to function. I have opted not to take an antidepressant because of the terrible side effects. Although there are still some side effects with other meds.. one thing that has made a HUGE difference for me is I started taking Glucosamine Chondroitin. It has helped immensely with the overall ache in my body. I do Myofascial Release therapy that also makes a big difference. Regular massage can be helpful but it’s not really what our bodies need to release the muscles from spasming. Hope this is helpful!

Amy, just a tip - when you’re mixing tablets with sterile water, try this; take the plunger out of an empty syringe, drop the pill(s) in, put the plunger back in and push it down to the pills. Draw up some sterile water, and turn the syringe over and remove the air bubbles. Then put a cap over the end of the syringe or use your finger, once you’ve done that, pull down on the plunger and the pressure pulls the pills apart and liquifies the medication. It removes the need to crush tablets, and also means you’re getting 100% of the meds and not losing any to the mixing pot.
