Thanks for the update. I have T-Mobile Internet and it has been pretty solid. I get over 200mbps no matter what time of day. My phone gets better speeds even connected to the same bad but not bad for home use. I get the best speeds from B66+N41 on my phone but although my home Internet is connected to the same 2 bands, I don't get more than 380mbps down when my phone can get about 550+ .. but so far extremely happy with T-Mobile Internet. Only issue is the Nokia device restarting once a day
Thanks for the info! I live in a rural area. T Mobile is the only one to offer it where I live, so I use it. I average 200 down and 40 up, which is much better than the dsl offered by the local telephone company, 10 down and 1 up.
Hey Nate I knew who was faster before I even watched this. Just to fill you in on my little experiment. AT&T let me try their new service. Then we went to Verizon with my wife to try them. I did this with no external antennas attached to the gateways. And all three in my dining room window because I have access to 2 towers there. I have no idea what tower AT&T and Verizon was using but the outcome didn't surprise at all. (1) AT&T the best I could get here was 110 Down and 11 up. (2) Verizon was almost the same but a bit faster with 130 down and 21 upload. (3) T-Mobile was on a different level all together with a 240-280 Down and a 32 upload. After testing these for 5 days straight it is clear who the winner is here in the countryside of Florida and that is T-Mobile hands down. Now I have to drive 30 miles and take them back. Have a G'Day Nate and viewers
When I first tried T-Mobile HSI in SE Michigan I was getting speeds over 2-300 hundred down all the time. A year later speeds never go over 70 down. (others in my area also report slower speeds) This is even after my local TMBLE tower was completely updated. Not sure what happen.. I sent the unit back and will test out VZ. Thanks for the video!
i had the same issue with tmobile they told me it was from more traffic on the network. the main problem im having is latency spikes of sometimes over 500 just enough to mess up gaming and making connection unstable. and tmobile says there is nothing they can do. is this normal for cell phone internet routers.
@@bigsarge4352 I don’t game a lot but when I play CoD on PC (Cold War and recent MW3 beta) with T Mobile 5g it does pretty well. Ping usually 17-30ms in game, 13-30ms on speedtest and speeds range from 80-130Mbps down 20-35Mbps up at low times, 150-220Mbps down 40-80Mbps up in best times. Modem usually sits between 3 or 4 bar connection (tower is 1/4mi away but up a small hill and with tall pines between us) Even using wifi from PC, been too lazy to connect my 100’ Ethernet cable. I do still wonder if I gamed more how it would do but my short bursts have been good. Coming from years of DSL, which was slow but fast enough for CoD and great latency + solid and consistent
I just signed up and they issued me the fast 5688w I tried getting the newer one and they said it was not available until next year in my area ?!? oddly enough in some rural areas, T-mobile is getting better than Verizon
My latency was around 32-47. I'm in Northern Macomb County. I sent the unit back after a year and am now back with comcast for now. I might try VZ next.
I am still on the original $25 plan with the cube and I can confirm that the speeds are unchanged and are still 300 down and 20 up and video is not throttled
Be sure if you have the old DSL and switch to the ATT air to call and cancel the old service, the letter they sent me said my old service would automatically be cancelled 7 days after the new device is activated, mine and my neighbors didn't we had to call
Great video. A lot of good info but all via just talking. Would you consider an infographic presentation? Perhaps show a trend line over time. Even a grid comparing offers would be a bit easier to digest. I watch your videos regularly so this is intended to be simply constructive feedback.
Thanks for the info. I don't know how I would feel about having a router that looks like an egg, lol. I use HomeFi which lets me get signal from whatever provider is strongest nearby, it's been great.
T-Mobile raised my monthly rate from $50 to $55 early in 2023. I'm 2700 feet from the tower with good line of sight. Considering the speeds I get are better than cable customers, the $55 is less than those people are paying.
Maybe after almost a year they realized I was using a credit card for AutoPay or else they created the policy about bank/debit card being in a different payment compared to credit cards. @@NaterTater
@@NaterTateragree. I tried to get Verizon but wasn't in area according to them. My wife needed internet for her class and the trac fone data was 40 per 8 gig. I got tired her running out. So I got T mobile. It would have been good to get the white gateway but I signed up too soon. Maybe when her class is over I will cancel and rebuy the service at a later date. 73
I've tested T-Mobile and Verizon and for me Verizon is more stable with 350Mbps down and 23Mbps upload with latency from 20-35ms. Plus you got ip passthrough so you can set up your own router without being restricted NAT.
@@vaypalreviews5778 Hit Advanced at the top. Then go to Network Settings > Network Connections. Click Network (Home/Office) and then click the Settings button. Check IP Passthrough and hit the Save Changes button. You will also want to edit both the 5 GHz Wi-Fi Access Point and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Access Point and change the Enabled toggle to Disable and wait for the change to be applied.
i live in the middle of nowhere and have had this service for almost 4 years and never got more than 5mbps down...they must have just done an upgrade on a tower near me or something because im now getting 300 mbps down
ya im quite pleased ive never once in my life had internet faster than around 10mbps. Its pretty amazing downloading a 100gb game in 40 minutes@@NaterTater
I did the 15 day trial with T-Mobile since I use them for my cell phone service. I was pretty disappointed because the speeds I received was ~25Mbps down and ~2Mbps up. I spoke with a representative who informed me that as long as I'm getting that speed, it is in their mind "good enough". The crazy thing is I can drive about a mile away, next to the tower and using my phone can get over 600Mbps down and 30Mbps up. I'm interested in getting a booster and a wiring capable gateway, but getting one is proving impossible. Are there any cheap alternatives? You keep promoting those really expensive waveform boosters, but I can't afford that, especially if I can't wire them directly to the gateway.
Boosters are different then external antennas and the antennas are typically cheaper and faster for home internet gateways. There are 3rd party gateways I cover but it's true all these options tend to be around $400-500.
Thanks for replying. I guess that goes to show I don't even know the difference between a booster and an external antenna. Hahaha Maybe it's time to save my money and buy the waveform 4x4 mimo (I don't have a clear line of sight). Thanks again for your content!
We have t mobile cell service and Verizon cell service. T mobile works very well at home but Verizon speeds are slow. That's why we picked TMHI and it worked out great.
I would try getting on your roof with the T-Mobile gateway/phone and see what kind of speeds you get. If they are more in the range of what you are looking for then it would be worth investing in an antenna as it will only improve whatever signal you are able to get. If you are a mile away I would think you would be able to get over 200 down depending on time of day. I am 1.4 miles away from my tower using a 4x4 waveform not line of site model and I am able to get 200-300 down and 30 up most of the day. At night I usually start slipping below 200 because my tower is over sold. I know this because at 5am in the morning I have gotten over 500 down and 70 up but of course that isn't the usual. Usually I am on B2 or B66 and N41. Hope that is helpful.
When will you post speed test of each device? I know that is subjective. I have a friend in Extreme South Arizona he likes T-Mobile I have T-Mobile and Visible.
We tryed tmobil home it worked for TV watching but my son used it for gaming no go,we were told no cost If it was back with in 15 days,so it went back and they charged $40 very sneaky and greedy t mobile so they can piss off
I got AT&T 50, would this be hypothetically better than AT&T 50 or would it be a just a waste of money. I play a lot of online games with friends, I also try to stream at times but doesn't work that well. Will AT&T Air maybe fix it?
Which one you think is better I have Verizon 5G Home is really good service so far. T- mobile was good also. Who you think have better speeds when it comes down to AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon? Verizon has good service in internet. But I love AT&T in mobile service. Which company internet do you like the most?
Hey. What is the ping time for the At&T, for us gamers. My Verizon cube , even though I am still stuck on the LTE Plan, is now down to 27ms . For Call of duty Mobile that is nearly the same that you get with a fiber connection. If you are a gamer, 60ms will cause issues!
I am moving to a rural area and will need to go with one of these options for internet. Is there anyway to tell who has the strongest coverage at my address?
I have a question for you .. I currently have the new Verizon gateway the one with the wifi and bars on the front .. it says on my phone I can get up two 2 gigs but it's only 300 up since I get throttled since I got the service after they changed the 5g home plus that the fastest iam going to get at the moment from Verizon ? Iam in Albany NY right by the stadium.
Yes if on c-band which is the fastest for that gateway its throttled at 300mbps down. If you get mmWave 5g then the outdoor lv65 gateway could be much faster.
first off thanks for helping us all Nate I live in Va, Afton mountain with alot of trees and one tower above and one tower below one maybe 4 miles the other 2-3 but no line of sight on either tower. I'm on 14 day trail with t mobil I can get a signal but the best rsrp is -101 and sinr is -3 on b12 and every other metric using t mobil app is good to excellent what is my best option ? thank-you Cliff p.s I carried the sagem com inside and outside the above readings are the best I could get
I had the Internet Air for Months. It is absolute garbage. I could set MHz to 160, and it does absolutely no change. I'd love to change Service, but my Area cannot support any other brand but ATT and only Copper Based or Air.
I have TMHI here (rural). Depending on the day of the week and time of day, the download speeds will vary from 25 Mbps to as high as 110 Mbps. The wide swing is due to congestion. Verizon, which has a strong mobile presence here, and AT&T do not offer FWA in this area.
Nate, I set up my Verizon 5G Home Internet and getting pretty good speeds (albeit 4G only in my area), however, when I go into the Graphical User Interface, is won't let me change the DNS Provider. The dropdown under Advanced-Network Settings-Network Connections, Edit Broadband Connection (Cellular)-Settings, The Dropdown for IPV4DNS only has one selection - "Obtain IPV4 Address Automatically." It won't let me change it. WTF? Have you heard of Verizon 5G Home Internet disabling changing DNS? Frustrating. Thanks. It's the Arcadian (ARC) version.
@@NaterTater Thanks Sir. I'll probably just set a custom DNS on my device until I have a chance to use my own router. I appreciate everything you do Sir. Just watched your load balancing video and it blew my mind. 🙂
