If there's a motor capacitor that could be the problem. The capacitor provides starting torque to overcome the inertial load. If the start capacitor is faulty the motor won't be able to turn the drum.

What was the reason the tub wouldn’t spin after the new belt was installed?

Hi have a Frigidaire washing machine, when it is on the spinning cycle it is washing instead of spinning can you say what might be the problem.

Hi. Mine started squealing and I smelled rubber then saw smoke before I could turn it off. I pulled the plug before a fire could start. Scared me because of smoke and smell. Hope I can get to that belt. Motor belt, right?

Ok so I have a model FLSE60RGS2 AND THE BELT CONTINUES TO SLIP OFF!! Ugh I can't find any help the agitator spins fine to the left but when it goes to the right for the spin cycle the belt jumps off how do I fix this issue I've spent 4 weeks trying to find help and no one has been helpful and I can't afford to replace the unit or pay to have it repaired what do I do to fix this

Having an issue with my washer. It fills, spins and empties, however it will not agitate. The timer is working. It spins fine. The belt is in good condition. It just won't agitate. Any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem. I put a new belt drive in. Just before the spin cycle kicks in, after the water has been pumped away, the drum seems to be locked. When the spin cycle begins the motor pulley is spinning but doesn’t move the belt. It almost looks like an intentional locking of the drum. When I apply anti clockwise pressure the locking subsides and the drum begins to turn for the spin cycle. Now here’s the catch. If I start directly at the beginning of the spin cycle it works without the need for manual intervention.

The spin basket was intermittently sticking when entering spinning phase. This washer dryer does not have an external brake / clutch mechanism, but instead I believe the bearing that is located at the bottom of the shaft, just above the large drive pulley is in fact a clutch bearing (one direction internal race). This prevents the spin basket from free wheeling during the agitation cycle. I think my problem of an intermittently sticking spin basket arose from a failed clutch bearing (due to overloading the wash capacity) which lead to fragments of metal sparodically impeding the rotation of the bearing and therefore the spin basket. Manual intervention would generally release the stuck spin basket.

My daughters machine spins out the first cycle but won't spin out the second cycle. I'm thinking it's the timer switch. What do you think? do you have a video on testing that switch or replacing it?

Hi Harry, That does sound like a dead spot on the timer. You can put your model number in a Google search and check for the word timer.

Am I right in believing that the transmission gear box is only relevant for the agitation washing phase. I think this because when the spin cycle begins the entire transmission box spins in sync with the spin basket. That suggests a direct coupling and the internal gears are not involved.

Hello! I have a similar issue. Everything works fine until it gets to the spin cycle when it dies. No noise, no smell, just dies. Possibly a door latch / switch? Any help would be appreciated!

Check the cold water inlet filter. Mine was clogged and would shut it down mid spin cycle. Not enough water to balance the load.

Hi Joan , The dryer and the washing machine have separate motors and separate belts that drive them.

Hi Steve, Good question. There was too much friction between the tub and the spin basket due to an article of clothing being caught in between. I had to remove the upper panel and then the plastic balance ring at the top of the tub I was in able to finish out the article of clothing using a straightened coat hanger.
