I am a 62 year old woman who has never done anything to a washing machine except add soap and spin the knob. 3 year old washer wouldn't spin or drain. Did not want to pay hundreds of dollars to get my favorite plumber out here. Viola! As promised, the cabinet was a bear to put back on but- I'm doing laundry right now. Reggie, you are def the man of the year!

Reggie I watched your at 11:30 pm. my wife told me at 11pm that machine wood not pump out. I took a quick look. Watched 4 videos, your take on the problem sounded like my issue. Went back down at 11:50pm. So I flipped it back to the wall pulled out the pump found a purple 2 x 2 washer cloth. Since “ prince “ hasn’t visited since the 80’s , it was my wife’s make up remover pad. Some how found its way in the hamper. I was done and back upstairs at 12:15 am. I thank you for you help and quick find and perfect explanation. Any boiler questions I will return the favor. Eric

You are the man. Dealt with a dryer issue last year, took it apart twice and replaced multiple parts just to end up buying a new one. Washing machine had issues today and was about to not deal with it and buy a new one. Got to this video, gave it a try, and sure enough a little Frozen Elsa sock was stuck in there. Massive thanks.

Hi Gary, I've a Kenmore 110 series. Intermittent drive motor. Peripherals are good(cap, lid switch & actuator). Pcb looks fine, but if I had a schematic I could verify; maybe a relay's output. Is there a way to bench test the motor?

I'm just seeing this for the first time! I have been repairing these types of washers since 1997! I feel you, brother! I know these things up, down, left, right, in, out, top to bottom! There are not much to them, but if you don't know, then you're screwed! I have repaired or replaced everything there is to repair or replace on these things! Funny story, we delivered a new, in the box washer to a customer and installed it in her basement. There was a scratch, less than 1 inch from the manufacturer on the back of the washer, ABSOLUTELY nothing that affected the performance of the machine, and she wanted a replacement, even after we went as far as offering her $100.00 off the price. So we packed the machine back up and replaced it for her, behind a scratch that she would never see unless she moved the washer and looked behind it! My buddy, who worked with me, ended up buying that washer for 95 bucks, and after 25 years, it still works great! He hasn't fixed anything on it. That lady paid $350.00 for a washer she could've kept for $250.00, and 25 years later, that washer is still going strong. With that less than 1 inch scratch on the back of it!😂

@@LeanOnYourRep My repair man from Sears who services Maytag told me I needed a $600 pump. He never checked the lid switch or the pump drain. Did not move the stackable out to check the drain. He had no card and asked him for the part number, said he sending email receipt and did but it did no have the model number on it. Guess he forgot? Complained and they are sending a different person tomorrow, but who knows maybe they cover for one another, or ?? Cannot believe it is the motor since it runs to agitate the load.

Once AGAIN you have saved time, money, aggravation, and headaches of a major dilemma by reducing it to a common occurrence repairable in no time flat ! Just got a used washer home and in place (bought yesterday as a "good working washer", full load washed, but no drain or spin. Thought I would do some research before calling the seller and calling him out. This problem could have occurred anywhere from his removal, a 45 mile transport, and my own final install in my house. I did the repair in less than 5 minutes, and had no need to embarrass myself with a phone call based on an incorrect assumption.....Thank You ! !

Awesome. You nailed it. Exactly the problem with my washer. I was looking at replacing the timer, the motor, Etc. Then checked for the motor...did not spin. Pulled the pump and it did spin! Sure enough a small piece of cloth stuck in the pump. Pulled it out, put it back, and it started up and drained just fine. The fact that it was humming like you said is what gave it away, motor was trying to turn. Will be a hero when the wife gets home! Saved me hundreds, thanks! :-)

Thank you Reggie for your demonstration! Well done, even when the going got tough! Today is Memorial Day, and with all the holidays, my luck has it that at least one home appliance has to break down on a holiday (my walk behind mower drive also quit being self-propelled today) my washer would not go into the spin cycle, so after checking the lid switch, capacitor and belt for functionality, now I'll check out the pump for an obstruction. (after pumping out the water out of the drum, I found out how my wife is laundering money and also found one of her little socks under the agitator) If I need parts I will buy from your website! this is the kind of advertising that gets my attention! Bravo!

Last thing I washed was my cat’s little bed but I noticed some of the stuffing came out into the washer and I had a hard time pulling it out. Oh man, I always watch some video that makes repairs look really easy and as I get into it, it ends up being less simple. I had the same symptoms but nothing clogging the pump. After that I got intimidated and called a repair guy. He said it was a capacitor or timer. The capacitor would be an extra $110 after his $65 just to come out, which he couldn't guarantee would fix it, or the timer which would be $450 and I might as well get a new one. I think I'm getting a new washer after spilling too much water on the floor and stressing myself out taking my washer apart (I don't mistake myself that any "repairs" I attempt could go horribly wrong). Happy to see this helped many people.

You legit just saved us time and frustration. Our apt building was saying 6-8 weeks for someone to come check it. Scooped as much water out by hand with a big mug as we could, soaked up what we left with towels, and drained another half bucket full for prep. Cleared the blockage, put it back together, and now we're doing laundry again without issue! Our pump and the mechanical interior were a bit different but it's really nearly all the same from a technical perspective. If we exclude the water drainage time and hunting for the right tools, maybe 20-30 minutes of time. Thank you so much!

Handy woman house wife mama with husband working away here. Your video was so helpful. Took me less than 10 minutes to take apart and get running again. Toddler sock just as you already knew. Had all my jeans in a wet loaded washer. You saved me! I can not thank you enough for your handy video! THANK YOU!

But I do have one small question…after I took those clips off underneath the control panel and started removing the washer cabinet two small “c” clips came lose and don’t know where they came from. It runs fine ( I ran a full cycle) so maybe they’re just for vibration control.

Got to say the information I found in this video was very useful. I was working on a general electric washer but it basically came down to the same thing. The washer ate a pillow and the fluff clog the drain so it wouldn't drain at all. But I was able to pull the drain out and get the drum spinning again. Thanks a lot

During the freeze here in Oklahoma my washing machine failed so, I was looking for videos how to repair them and your video popped up and I watched it. I took off the water pump and seen where the Motor spindle goes on to the pump and it was cracked and today I picked up a new water pump and it seems to be working great! Thank you for your tip on how to troubleshoot the issue and I watch the video on how to put the shroud back on and it worked to perfection! Thanks again

Thank you for generously sharing your knowledge with calm and expertise. When you were patiently removing the sock, you had me laughing out loud, where in real life I'd be crying out loud. I will cherish this lesson for the next time I reach that point, and I will! Butterknife is my most prized tool in the pink tool box!

Hey man thank you soo much for sharing this. We have a 15+year washing machine and was acting up. I didn't really want a new since the opening to our old one is 25" and new washing machines are 27"+. This helped us alot. Seriously thank you so much.

Thanks so much. With taxes coming up, last thing we wanted was to have to buy a washing machine. I took it all apart as instructed here, didn't find much inside the pump, just some goop like wet paper mache, didn't seem enough to stop the pump spinning. Still, I took all the goop out and it started draining again. You Sir, are a diamond... sharing this information in such a simple and straightforward manner :)
