I had assumed my ongoing classes were more popular because paying weekly is easier for many families than having to pay a a big upfront fee for a semester long class. I teach writing classes and am excited for this option as I would like to teach classes that build on the previous lesson.

Glad to have more options as an online teacher - I can definitely see the advantage for teaching writing on the platform

Do you think families will be willing to try out these new payment options or just continue with ongoing?

I’m super excited about the info! I am going to be officially jumping back into being an Outschool teacher 1:10

What subjects will you be teaching?

I might try it if I were still teaching on Outschool a lot. Although I have really gotten used to the ongoing format.

Same. I've been teaching primarily ongoing for the past year so that learners can come and go as they please

I'll be making a spring scheduling vlog soon and I may consider trying these out

I don’t teach any multi-day, but my one question is if parents withdraw their student before a class ends, can that spot then be open to someone else to join partway through, like ongoing? Because if not, it seems like this could become a problem.

I also do not teach multi-day. I tend to stick to ongoing so that learners can come and go as their schedules allow

But that is a very good point about learners leaving early

I'm currently only an OS parent, but I'm looking into applying to teach which is why I subscribed. As a parent, I can see a huge benefit in this structure. Often I have not enrolled my child in a multi-week class that I have been really interested in because it's hard to financially drop a couple hundred upfront. So it's not that we can't commit to say, in your example, a 12 week reading course, its that I cant pay that in one big chunk. So as a homeschool parent, I can see a benefit of having a multi week class that we commit to doing start to finish but paying weekly to make it more friendly on the budget. I do hope teachers will be willing to try it out :)

I don't see an indication that families are able to enroll after the start date but they can withdrawal and end payments at any point without worrying about the refund policy. It sounds like it will be a good replacement for the flexible refund option that is currently available but not for the moderate or limited refund policies. Overall seems to be more helpful for the families than for teachers. Though if it encourages families to sign up for a multi-week that they wouldn't otherwise, then maybe. :shrug:

Time will definitely tell if these changes are for the better on this platform

Hey Kristen! Have you used the weekly payment option for these classes? I've chosen not to use them, because one of the things I like about my multi day classes is that it ensures income for a certain amount of weeks. Have you found success with this?
@somethingelementary1890
@somethingelementary1890 Год назад
I’m not interested in this option at all as a teacher. If you choose it, students can withdraw and I’m not sure if students would or could join late. So for 6 weeks you could have planned on a certain income and end up being out a lot of money. It’s a no for me. I do 100% ongoing because of the pay weekly option for parents. I do think that’s important, but this isn’t a win-win. IMO
