What you call just '' warm up'' are always so cute and perfect😍 that they look like master pieces for me. And your '' obsession '' with empty space is not something bad but just a genius skill. It's always balanced and perfect and so creative to me. If one day I reach this level it will be a dream came true . More than stickers you could make a full art book with you ''warm up''. Thank you for all the inspiration and bliss you give with your videos.

as someone who primarily uses cool colors and rarely uses oranges, your art is gorgeous. Literally the way you wield colors is amazing and its hypnotizing to watch. keep it up!

Maybe traditional gets more clicks on social, and has a certain charm. But for me, digital process is equally important and probably more applicable for most people who want to learn how to do certain things. Like, when i see something beautiful in digital im always curious about the layer setups, blending modes, brushes, etc... so many endless and evolving techniques in digital to share, always something new to try.

I totally understand what you’re saying and I wish you to find the ideal balance. Did consider the possibility of you doing the character design and research about your comic (the way you want : traditional or digital) without filming the process, as you would normally do. And afterwards, share the results with us, explaining why you did this choice, why you don’t like this drawing and so on. Like this you won’t have the pressure of the filming process that can be paralysing. Personally, I’d love to hear you sharing these things ! Even if you draw « live ». Really. Thank you for your videos, and I send you a lot of strength to work on your comic !

do you think posting your character development process (including the stuff you find ugly) would help train your brain to feel less pressure? I personally love seeing artists go through the process of squashing/stretching and figuring out what image suits the vide of a character a lot. I think they are very educational for me. But if that just give you more pressure I totally understand.

Personally? My 2 favorite things to paint are people, and nature. I grew up in a coastal New England town, so I had the best of both worlds : The ocean, and the woods. Both were havens, so it seems very natural for me to be geared towards painting what I know. I love painting nature, because it's more forgiving. I would love to see you branch out into that realm!

This seems like so much fun and I’ve been wanting to find different ways to use my tombow markers cause I’ve invest in so many but it’s been so long since I’ve used a pen when drawing! I’m so used to sketching in marker or pencil. Nonetheless, I enjoy watching your video and it gets me inspired to push myself to try this so maybe someday I will when I have enough confidence! 😂

For the sticker suggestion. Maybe you can take a picture of your sketched page and do like a digital trim. Then put a white border around each image. The sticker idea was a really great suggestion. 😊

I’m not even a professional (yet) and I already feel like social media dictates how I should move as an artist. I like traditional and digital, but I gotta pick one and stick with it. I like comics, but they have to be a 4 paneled gag. I wanna experiment with different techniques, but that won’t fit my “style”. As an artist today, you can still have it all, just not on social media. So pick the poison that tastes the least bitter.
@CosmicSpectrumArt

You're damn right about that hahah -_- social media can be so toxic... hopefully we'll figure it all out in time.

For me, personally, I love both formats of digital and traditional. However, I feel like traditional medium content provides an intimacy that not many digital artists provide, I love watching people draw and being over their shoulder and, as a digital artist myself, I can understand that just watching a screen recording, doesn't quite tickle the right art spots. However, unless you have an decent camera/phone, I feel like it can get tricky for digital artwork to have that closeness. I love watching the intentional, and unintentional, line making and all those beautiful accidentals. That's just my take though!

I love traditional style a lot more. Especially process video. However, a lot of people do go digital for a lot of reason, especially it being easier for them. *cough* undo button *cough* But the reason I love drawing traditional is cause it feels more raw and real. I love that. You see the little mistakes, or the different size a brush pen makes. Just my opinion haha
@elisadinsmore231
@elisadinsmore231 Год назад
I personally prefer watching traditional art, much more than digital. Most people who watch art videos are either artists themselves, or budding artists. Traditional materials are more attainable for the general public. I think that factors in to why videos of traditional art have more views. Everyone can find a pencil, pen, or paper.
@danasa4994
@danasa4994 Год назад
Yes! Also i was thinking about how, for the portion of viewers that don't make art at all, they watch for the intrigue, for the aesthetic of it. And digital could probably make less sense to them if they're not accustomed to it. While with traditional art, anyone could follow along and perceive the tools for what they are: that's a pencil, that's familiar. That's paint, it feels like i'm painting myself. And so on and so forth

if it makes it harder for you to practice character designs and visual development of your own characters, maybe it would help if you took characters and descriptions of your favorite book or even fanfiction characters, in order to not be so attached to the character and fearful of messing up and instead to focus on the interpretation of the written description and redirect the focus to that.

Maybe you can make vlogs to work on your visual development pieces, just show us pieces of your day to day and say "now I'm going to work on this" without showing the full result. So you can create content but you can afford to make mistakes . That is my suggestion, English is not my first language but I hope it is understood.

hi! Yes I do, I like to. My fav genre is gothic horror, but I read other stuff as well. Don't have one specific fav book but from recent memory I loved The Goldfinch and The Secret History by Donna Tartt. I love classic literature. Also have been diving into some older gothic horror novels, and they're pretty hilarious and wildly entertaining (like Vathek and The Castle of Otranto).

Just because I see you very stuck with social media and Gloomingvale I´ll drop this idea. Obviously if you don´t feel like it, just don´t mind it. Have you considering changing your type of videos to fit your needs of time to do the comic? May be "a week with me while working on gloomingvale" videoblog. Or what kind of sources are you using for planning your comic. Videos that do not require you to spend much time sat down drawing and recording the process but more of either informative or videoblog about your process. I am saying this because I know how long it can take to make these type of videos and there are other type of contents that are as well enjoyable, even informative and useful.

In my opinion you think too much about potential obstacles and the reception of your art. You are so so good at art, I am surprised you worry so much. I think you are very conscious about your art and it's great to be able to self reflect and analyze to this extent but don't let your amazing rational mind get in the way of your art.

i wish you had the freedom to draw and work on your comic the way you wanted regardless of the social media algorithms. It's really frustrating to hear you aren't able to work on something you want because you feel the pressure to make content. It feels like a never ending loop of commercial work vs social media content to pay your bills and and doesn't seem to leave enough time for you to do your comic work which seems extremely important to you, so it's sad to hear. I enjoy these videos and watching you draw is so relaxing to hear you ramble, and it really keeps me company while i draw, but I really hope you get the chance to do what you like too though. Please take care.

Hmmmm stop me if i'm bullshit but i'm getting the feeling that some of my fav artists here like you and Arleebean are censoring yourselves to say that youtube (and other social media) are just literal trash, bcause they're trying to squeeeeeze out every possible inch of "content" that artists can provide thanks to their algorithmy, but maybe you're a bit scared to say that full on since you're kinda dependent on them ? It's like criticising skillshare while being a prof there, not very stonks am i wrong ?
