↣ premise ;
At the Battle of Crecy in 1346, Rosalind de Harcourt loses her beloved father on the battlefield.
Years later, in the wake of the Black Death, she returns to England with her mother Catherine, and finds that their lands and her inheritance have been seized by Lady Jocelyn Mercer, ambitious widow of the Lord of Berwick.
Now homeless, Rosalind is taken in by Alice, leader of a band of rebels, and her right hand, Will, desperate to fight back against Lady Jocelyn's tyranny: she's taxing the poorest of people to support King Edward III's fight against France, even after the population has been decimated by the plague.
Alice channels the legendary Robin Hood: steal from the rich to give to the poor.
But is her father truly dead, or is he the captive of Lady Mercer?
