Houston is nice. It's warm all year round (unless you don't mind humidity), very ethnically diverse, and affordable. What the city really needs is better public transportation system, and better connectivity of sidewalks and more pedestrian-friendly infrastructures.
And keep the turning lanes off the damn tracks. I know they want to expand the roads to get more people out on the streets and to avoid congestion, but think about people safety. Not about the environment. I know they build couple of skyline parts for metrorail. But It doesn't hurt to put part of it under ground... or does it?
@@Brand-pn5yz Houston is the city that floods in downtown is below sea level there are some places where it dips underground but not for long distance that wouldn't be good for Houston
I miss Houston texas so much I moved 5 months ago to new Mexico and I want to move back to my family and friends born and raised in Houston Texas H-town for life
I moved away from family in L.A to go to school in New Mexico (Portales then the Burque) … now I’m in Texas and moving from Dallas to Houston . San Antonio is my favorite TX city though
You guys are kicking butt. I knew y’all would love Houston. I bought my C8 corvette there at AutoNation Chevy. And I fell in love with the city. Jose is such a great driver and Katie is an excellent co-pilot. Excellent teamwork guys!!!
@Rogelio pro3000 I work out of Florida as a business turnaround specialist. I’ve always owned vettes and when the new mid engine came out I had to have one. Glad I did, the car with upgrades cost around 90k and I could sell it for 110 to 120k. Not a bad deal.
Glad to see you guys enjoying Houston its really nice once you get use to the traffic I've lived here my whole life so I'm use to it God bless have fun
People talk about Houston being hot and it is but the true heat comes from June through August. Go to Houston from January through May and it's pleasant.
One of the reasons everything looks so dead and dull in Ft Worth and Dallas is the weather was so severe not too long ago. They had record snow and ice for several days that does a number on landscapes
For all you people that are visiting H-Town, and you happened to be in Downtown,go and visit the underground shopping and Restaurants, just a reminder remember where your park. Get on the railway and take a ride.
The downtown skyline has really improved a LOT since the 70’s. I’m 55 and grew up in Houston, and I remember how completely BORING the skyline was back then. Mostly dominated by a bunch of soulless box towers like One Shell Plaza and Exxon Bldg. The Pennzoil Tower was the only somewhat interesting looking feature (of the then-modern scrapers). Today it’s a gorgeous, iconic skyline with a lot of architectural diversity. The boxes no longer dominate it. I just wish they’d build a supertall in the downtown center to perfectly frame it.
Houston's highway system is a spoke and wheel system. You have the downtown loop, 610 inner loop, Beltway 8 toll loop & the new Grand Parkway toll loop. Then you have I-10, I-45, I-69 running through all the loops and connect with each other forming the downtown loop. You also have Hwy 288 which connects with all the loop but ends at downtown. TxDot is planning on demolishing most of this downtown loop and rerouting the I-45 pierce elevated to run along the I-69. On this stretch, both I-45/I-69 will be built below grade and cap off with a park on top. Downtown will flow into Eado, Midtown & 4th Ward without any break from the freeways. The view will be gone, traffic should be better and also brings more connectivity to downtown and surrounding neighborhoods
The last thing Houston needs is more freeways, or more freeway lanes. What it does need is better public transportation and more walkable streets. At least the inner loop areas. People who live outside 610 seem to love sitting in traffic, so they can keep things the way they are.
@@Shikta-poobah67 so, you would spend a lot more per day in buses or trains, waiting for them until their scheduled arrival, and walk during the hot and humid summers? Enjoy it, not me
@@kwt2000trucker Yes, absolutely I would, and I already have when I lived in the NYC tri-state area. It gets plenty hot and humid there too, not to mention the long cold winters. I actually spent a lot LESS money using PT as opposed to all the expenses of owning and having to depend on a car. I mean a LOT less. With a car, the added costs of fuel, maintenance, insurance, and parking add up to a fortune. It’s a huge money drain. As for waiting for scheduled arrivals, well as long as the PT is adequate and well managed, then you’ll never have to wait long for the next train. Definitely not as long as you have to wait for the bumper to bumper traffic to start moving. As for walking, I don’t mind walking. Keeps me healthy and it sure beats sitting in traffic for hours on end while spending over 4 bucks a gallon on gas. Maybe that sounds crazy, but that’s my preference.
@@kwt2000trucker I do enjoy it, our property taxes on the east side have jumped massively with the green line. And lots of development has happened. Nobody who lives by the rail is complaining lol
I was in Cypress Texas for 3 weeks at Christmas, and went into Huston a couple of times. Cypress is really nice, I also went to Galveston Texas for a really good seafood dinner at Bubba Gump's it's really close to Houston. The beach isn't as pretty as Florida but I still loved it.
I was born and raised in Houston, but I've lived on the Atlantic Coast of Florida for many years. The beaches in Florida are so nice because they're artificial. After every big storm washes away the beaches, they spend millions of dollars to pump in sand from the ocean floor to build it back up, then they truck in tons and tons of white sand and dump it on the beaches.

My family use to live in NE Houston Homestead and LIttle York roads. My mom grew up in 5th ward. Wonder what those parts look like today. Was very African American. Was on decline in the 80's as African American family went 288 south and Missouri city and Southwest Houston.
A city like this must have a daily working highway clean up team that drives around 24/7 like in Singapore. They stop on the highway even in the dark and pick up debris and waste. Also at the off ramps. It's a business card for every city when you have clean streets when visitors drive downtown from the airport.
Huh… whaaat? Scooby doo voice “Idk”… u must of been there during all star weekend… TRAFFIC… I was there in 2021 July and the traffic was NOTHIN… TRAFFIC! Go to Atlanta ANY TIME OF THE YEAR. THATS TRAFFIC… only 2 million ppl in Houston. 8 million in Atlanta and its SMALL!

@@Deanstanley you must of RETRIEVED those figures from WIKIPEDIA… Bc those figures at least for Atlanta are WRONG! Well this was interesting, I'm not a fan of large cities or expressways lol. So funny to hear how thrilled you were Jose with that. That's what makes the world interesting, to appreciate differing opinions. I was impressed with houston, it looks very clean and organized for a large city. Also, where are the homeless people? We have a ton more pan handlers in Sarasota which is much smaller.

Were you guys really that impressed with the skyline and architecture? Seriously, you need to travel to places like Paris, London and New York or even Chicago. Americans seem to get impressed so easily.
Yeah those are on a different level. Personally chicago is my favorite, but Houston's skyline in person from certain angles looks very nice. Especially when you can see the multiple skylines from far away
Ok? So those cities had more buildings built pre WWII. Houston has a few but many were after. Comparing NY to even cities like LA or even Miami would be stupid too. Just an overall dumb comment.
Actually New York City is 302.6 square miles Dallas is 385.9 square miles Houston is 665.0 square miles Houston is twice as big but less people New York City doesn't have room to expand out like Houston so it had to expand up which is why it has so many skyscrapers
I really wish that Houston had never annexed all those suburban areas and just let them incorporate into their own cities, but it is what it is. People ALWAYS hold this against Houston. If Houston had just kept it’s 1970’s city limits, it would be about 350 sq. miles and it would probably still be the nation’s 4th largest city, only with a much more accurate average population density, closer to 8,000 ppsm rather than 3,500.
