Great video. Just a quick tip, in my experience, putting an impact on the sway links and allowing the ball joint to "freeweheel" can ruin them. It seems to wear the joint out much quicker. Not a problem if you're replacing anyway, but if you plan to reattach, I'd use a wrench and hex if possible.

“Don’t hit the car..” with the strut. Good advice. I just hit and dinged my car w the new strut before I watched this video 🤦‍♂️

Thanks very much for this video! Will be replacing the 2 fronts on a 2014 ES 300h, I imagine it should be relatively similar if not the same.

how about the rear struts?

Really nice video man! I have a 2010 Lexus ES 350 with 96k miles on it and for the past month I've noticed a knocking sound when driving over bumps or even over the cat's eye on the street. I brought it to my independent mechanic and he said that all 4 struts are worn and should be replaced. I'm not completely convinced about his assessment since: a) the knocking sound only originates on the driver's rear side b) the car only has 96k miles and was driven lightly by the previous owner, and c) I don't experience other symptoms of bad struts (such as increased braking distance, residual bounciness over bumps, and increased body roll when turning) With all this info in mind, do you also agree with my mechanic's diagnosis? He said that the rest of the suspension looks good and that only the struts would need to be replaced. He also told me that he'd be able to install KYB struts for $300 each with labor included. Your thoughts? I'd really like to have a second opinion on this, thanks!

Your mechanic sounds right for the most part. The knocking sound that you are hearing is probably the strut mount on one of the front struts. I would recommend replacement of the shocks and struts due to the mileage on the vehicle. When I got my Lexus, it had around a 100000 miles. With factory suspension and it felt fine. I still replaced mine due to the mileage and ended up getting a way sportier feel. I was actually pretty happy I changed them out.

What are the brand names of the struts for lexus es350 you installing and how is the ride after install thank?
@ScottiesHobbies

In this video I am installing KYB strut assemblies. This is my daily commuter. I am for sure not the slowest person on the freeway. I cannot compare them to factory because when I purchased the vehicle the struts were bad. I always recommend KYB on import vehicles.I really like the ride quality, especially for the cost and labor savings by doing a straight bolt on swap.

Didn't mention releasing tension on jack to maneuver hub
@ScottiesHobbies
@ScottiesHobbies Год назад
Jack is only there to stop the lower control arm from falling. I never put pressure on the control arm to move the hub... unless I'm looking at a different part of the video. What miniute mark are you looking at? And.... do not put a jack on the hub! You might ruin the hub bearing. Go under the lower ball joint.

It is same thing to replace Toyota avalon 2005?
@ScottiesHobbies
@ScottiesHobbies Год назад
The parts that are installed on this vehicle in this video say they are compatible starting in 2006. I do not think this will be the exact same for a 2005 but it might be very similar.
