The Foreign keep making bad calls. It pick skill people but completely ignore their humanity. Wodime asks it to bring back the the crypter causing us to have Pepe and Kodac in the deck. Even Hinako join in. Beryl might screw up but it gave us Morgan (who will save us multiple time over). Then there is Daybit. Not to mention Wodime have been on humanity side from day 1. Then it use Holmes as a sleeper agent who go and off himself for our sake. It weakness is it didn’t the noblest of humanity. Shitty part? Sure. But certainly the concept of self sacrifice is beyond it understanding.

In fairness, Holmes finding out would have obligated him to serve her, since she's his true Master. That's why his memories were sealed off. The only reason her plan was screwed is because the Foreign World sent Young Moriarty to LB 6.5 SPECIFICALLY to take Holmes out to screw with the Foreign God's plan.

Well, if its/her introduction is anything to go by, the Alien God is an absolute NOOB in judging a lot of things. Not that it doesn't make sense, though, in the case it/she really IS an *alien* creature. Literally _EVERYTHING_ about Earth would be new to it/her. And remember, the Alien God is NOT necessarily Beast VII, more like it has fused with its Spirit Origin in order to manifest, just like it has with Olga Marie's body. _(still fucking _*_pissed_*_ at how it/she insulted Olga Marie's body during Olympus)_

But the question remains; what was he summoned to do? And why do I get the feeling it's worse than trying to destroy us?

He basically pulled the same trick as Moriarty in Shinjuku: Erased his memories so he could grow fond of us and take our side. If his sleeping memories had awoken under other circumstances he would have betrayed us in the exact same manner, or at least that's how he said it here. On the other hand, given the heroic nature of the "good" Moriarty in Shinjuku he might have offed himself just like Sherlock did here, had he learned of the plan beforehand. They really are two peas in a pod, huh.

@@PhantomCard it seems instead of being fused with Der Freischütz this incarnation is fused with the three Norns that spin fate and life. Originally James and Sherlock fought themselves off the waterfall to there deaths but holmes essentially had his death reconned so that moritay was the only one to die. In this instance holmes should had the advantage but but since he has the power to alter fate he used that to win. Which was a big mistake on his part because the moment holmes went over the waterfall was the moment moritay’s story also “ended”, conceptually losing the ability to alter fate. A big “won the fight lost the war” moment since his other objective was defeated Chaldea which he forgot about in that moment

He's dead for the sake of one thing: Stopping Alien World to take over Chaldea, to stop Ruler Moriarty to take over Chaldea and change the course of humanity because the alien world want to fight the Alien God. He willingly choose his death because to defeat Moriarty, he also need to die, just like how they both fell to their death in Reichenbach Falls. Yeah they censored what his purpose was and who his composite deities were. We're definitely going to see him again. Plus this is Reichenbach Falls: In the Sherlock Holmes books Holmes faked his death at Reichenbach when everyone thought Moriarty killed him.

Young Moriarty is against us, because he wanted to take over Chaldea for himself to defeat alien god without regard for earth because he is an Apostle to the alien world, Holmes foiled the plan by stripping Moriarty off from his Composite god power (fateweaver) through realising the fate of Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty, that is to false a Tie in Reichenbach Falls.

On my side, i was thinking that "fucked up" might connect to the lore. Moriarty's journey actually ended when both goes to the Fall, when Holmes faked his death, reason why Old Moriarty never take Holmes down this whole time is because he knows when Holmes reaches "his demise" it also means that Moriarty also carry the same fate, thus ending their story. When Young Morty killed Holmes and let Holmes actually died, that means the concept of "Sherlock Holmes" journey was also stopping at that very moment, leaving Young Moriarty a different path to walk which may result Old Morty to never exist. Think like this, Moriarty's true goal after the whole concept story is to beat Holmes, and that concept story set the final moment in a very specific chapter, Reichenbach Waterfall, that also build Moriarty's personality to that Old Morty we know. Finishing it sooner might create the butterfly effect that Young Morty will never meet his known character as "James Moriarty" from Doyle's work, leaving Moriarty's character a hole that is supposed to be filled by his only Rival through out the story. It affects Young Moriarty narration for lacks of enemy figure, thus end him as not the same Moriarty as the old one. Old Morty said Young Morty is fucked up is because he made a conceptual mistake of actually letting a probability to cease his own existence as the infamous "James Moriarty" (because eventho it's only a few book/chapter, maybe like only 2 or 3 that talked abt Moriarty in Doyle's novel, all of them even the implicit offscreen detail were heavily affected by Holmes's movement and thoughts, it proves along with the original intention of Moriarty character that he's really made to be the Holmes power rival)

so a holmes ruled only by logic and making "logical: choices? as much as i hate to say it (and please holmes fans forgive me) but if holmes was going to "revert" back to that version of himself, perhaps it was best he did what he did.

Huh? No, Holmes was rude in the novels and doesn't like his intelligence questioned by the dimwits of Scotland Yard but he is sensitive to human emotions and a lot of times he shows emotions too. He's not robot detective, he's simply logical enough not to stray from the truth of mysteries.

I might be wrong, but the reason that most Sherlock are "him before compassion" is that his later stories aren't yet in the public domain, Doyle's Estate still has control of those (At least until next year) The character himself is in the public domain but those characteristics aren't, so other people can't use "post-compassion Holmes" without paying royalties to Doyle's Estate

There is a theory that Foreign god is man made beast to forcefully speed-up humanity ascension. it would make sense then that it's not omnipotent can onyl use things known to humanity and is falible/imperfect/makes mistakes or is designed to make certain mistakes. Wodime, and by extent the Apostles, is really that terrifying in retrospect now that I think about it. If only one were to be revived by Alien God, the chances of betrayal and rebellion would've been so low that our chances of even winning is beyond zero as that will make the 2 of the Apostles less Sympathetic to humanity through apathy or deletion of their own records and instead focus completely on supporting the Alien God without doubt. Like Rasputing saving and by extent helping the Crypters, or Holmes working with us.

Expanding on your crackpot theory: What if Holmes doing this essentially allows the two halves to separate and operate independently. Holmes goes over the falls while breaking his self-imposed memory seal to bring his other half forward, "killing" both himself and whatever entity the Foreign God fused him with (likely a Foreigner of some sort). Foreign God revives the Foreigner half to fulfill its intended role (I feel like they wouldn't have censored it if his role was already fulfilled, hence needing to revive it in the first place), keeping the original half "dead" to avoid further setbacks (or maybe it just revives itself w/o the Foreign God's aid, could also work that way); meanwhile, after some time passes, Sherlock himself revives and returns to fight his other half, now free of the Foreign God's influence. Leading to the final battle: a Sherlock mirror match, Foreigner vs. Ruler, traitor to Chaldea vs. traitor to the Foreign God.

Self-termination might not even be that crazy of an idea. I have read a theory once that said that Chaldea was created to find, create and destroy Beasts of Humanity so that humans could rise to another, higher form of humanity. If this higher form of humanity is the end goal, self-termination of the Alien God (the 7th and final Beast) would make perfect sense!

The moment he was fighting against Goetia's plan he was also working (unknowingly) for the Alien God, this would continue until the final battle against the Beast VII and you can guess what could've happened if he backstabbed Chaldea in a moment like that
