Examples before the first quiz only explained the stem form of the ichidan verb 食べる, but didn't cover the stem form for godan verbs (like はたらく), so the first quiz was kind of hard. Did you leave that out on purpose? I'm guessing I was supposed to already be familiar with that?
@YukoSensei
@YukoSensei 4 года назад
Ronさん、すみません。This is a lesson I prepared for my classes at the college I'm teaching during the quarantine and by the time students reach to Lesson 12 in the book, which is the final lesson of GENKI vol. 1, they've already learned what verb stem is. That's why I didn't explain it in the video. Regardless of the verb group, you basically take off ます out of Masu-form to get the stem of the verb. はたらきます → [stem] はたらき のみます → [stem] のみ します → [stem] し Hope this helps!

Hello, Yuko-sensei! May I ask what the し in between nervous and sugita means?
@hiruni3894_
@hiruni3894_ Год назад
The verb for "getting nervous" is kinchoushimasu. When we use sugimasu, we remove "masu" and add sugimasu. Kichoushimasu ---> kinchoushi + sugimasu = kinchoushisugimasu

Why do we change sugimashita to plain form when we add kara? Would sugimashita kara be incorrect?
@vonneumann6161

Both is correct but plain form is more common

marisol legaspi Hi! Sorry I’m not a Sensei 🙇‍♀️🙏 Yes!, you can say : Nonde tabe sugita (Drink and ate a lot). But I would say : Nomi sugite Tabe sugita (Drink a lot and ate a lot ). Hopefully I can be of any help to you.

You don't always say 私 right?it is already understandable right? Cuz i don't hear a lot of 私は in movies.
@Cyanide_no_aji
@Cyanide_no_aji 4 года назад
It's always assumed the topic is about you は tells you the topic 私 is you Unless it's unclear you don't tell people you are the topic. For example you broke your leg and go to school the teacher ask "how did you break your leg?" You don't need to say 私は because it's already VEEY CLEAR who is the topic
