Let's learn how to use てみる (TE MIRU) to say "Try something" in Japanese. This grammar is covered in the book, GENKI 2.

Thank you for the video! Very well done and very thorough and helpful. I appreciate that you took the time to explain that you don’t use kanji for てみる. Personally I would prefer seeing plain forms of verbs over masu forms, because it’s easier to learn and remember for me. May not be the same for others though.

It might be better to make sentences using kanji in it and just put hiragana reading above but it could take more time therefore I completly understand if you wont. By the way it's another helpful video. I was really wondering like hour ago how to create one similiar sencence.

Because no native speakers would say "Natto wo tabete mimasen." We say, Natto wa tabemasen.

Thanks for the great explanation. But, I have 2questions though 1. Isn't けど casual form, why do we use in this formal sentence? 2. Does the casual of 食べてみました becomes食べてみた?

Yuko sensei could you please explain me in short the difference of usage of 利用 and 使用? To me it seems like they have same meaning, are they interchangeable or? Thanks in advance, great video

Yuko sensei, Can we not use 'ga' instead of 'kedo'?

The only sticking point for me is equating "I didn't understand" with "I didn't get an answer." To me, "I didn't understand" implies that the teacher did answer, but I didn't understand what she said. "I didn't get an answer" implies that despite my asking, she did not respond at all. Other than that, it's cool to see that two completely unrelated languages can use the same verb to express the same idea.
