You can use TE Formすいません to say "I'm sorry" in Japanese for things you have done. I also explain the difference between すみません, すいません, ごめんなさい, and ごめん in this lesson.

1. I'm sorry I was absent from work yesterday.
昨日仕事を休んで、すいません。
きのうしごとをやすんで、すいません。
Kinoo shigoto o yasunde suimasen.
2. I'm sorry I forgot our marriage anniversary.
結婚記念日（を）忘れて、ごめん（ね）。
けっこんきねんび（を）わすれて、ごめん（ね）。
Kekkon kinenbi (o) wasurete gomen (ne).
