I shall be in Kyoto sometime in Jan (unfortuately alone). It looks so very difficult to decide what to see...I feel it would be impossible to see everything even If I was to stay for a week...It looks like a magical place..and those who live there are so lucky..even if they do not realise it...I am hoping to go as far south as Kagoshima. I shall start in Tokyo (1 week even though I still do not think its enough to see everything I hope to) as I am seeing my favourite band LIVE..Then head south and make my way back towards Tokyo..via Kagoshima, Kumamoto, Hiroshima, Osaka, Kyoto,Tokyo..This will be my first ever solo trip..Not by choice as I lost my partner to cancer in 2017. She was the one who organized any trips we took..It will be a real adventure!
Why "unfortunately" alone? In my four visits to Kyoto (adding up to about 5 weeks in all) I was always alone - but never felt lonely! It is such a beautiful place and it is so much more enjoyable to wander where you want, when you want, just taking time to take in the different sights and sounds ... I am sure you will have a wonderful time. p.s. You are absolutely right - a week is so little but I promise you it will be a very special week. (I have just booked my next trip to Japan and will be returning to Kyoto for 3 weeks - and I know I will still only see a small part. This lovely video has given me three new places to visit !)
@@PamelaProPeace Would like to of been sharing the experience with my late partner who passed away from cancer in 2017...hence being alone...I could be in the middle of Shibuya Scramble Crossing at peak time..and still be alone...For me it has been difficult to "enjoy" life if you can't share the experience. I have no friends to regale tales on a cuppa or family to show photos to (very much estranged)...You may enjoy your own company..I do not...I want to share life with someone I love...Loneliness is a killer.
@@Bodneyblue I'm sorry for your loss. For me it turned out I was more lonely in my 35 years of marriage than I have been in the 15 years since my divorce. (And yes, I too know the pain of estrangements from family) But I learned from one of my favourite film characters that I had a choice for my future ... "get busy living or get busy dying" and Japan was one of the things that came into my life and gave it meaning! My first visit was at age 67 and my next will be at age 73! p.s.At the end of every day when in Japan I write up the day and email it to friends - one journal got me through the loneliness of lockdown as I edited it and turned it into a book to help others enjoy Japan as I do (on Kindle)
Lovely video! I was in Kyoto last week and I had an amazing experience there. I saw all of the sites you mentioned in the video, except Hanamikoji Dori. I will have to check it out next time.
Love this video. Showed some places that still a hidden gem of Kyoto. Been here last 2019, but very short. Bamboo Grove in Arashiyama and Fushimi Inari were the places been visited with my husband. We have an upcoming visit soon on December again and plan to stay 1 week in Kyoto instead. And 4 nights in Osaka. Surely, these places will difinitely included in our bucket lists. Thank you for sharing this video . I am already excited ❤
Thank you for the comments😍 I hope you’ll have a great trip! In Japan,December is winter and Kyoto is very very cold… so it’s good to prepare good winter cloth🧊
Really great video..., i watch a lot of video walk in traditional japan with less of people or activity, but this video is a real live persective. its a great to see inside a building with people around. Please make more video walk through Japanese traditional village. Love your work very much 🥳🥳🥳
Thank you for the comment😊 I think overcrowded season in Kyoto is summer vacation season(late July and August),early May, and late September. Except for that season, I think that number of people are same. I recommend you to go to Kyoto in spring and fall because the temperature is good(Kyoto is known for very hot summer and very cold winter) and cherry blossom/autumn leaves are so beautiful!
Hello good morning, thank you for making this video - it has so many nice insider tips and it looks so peaceful everywhere. May I ask in which month this video was taped, the temperature seems to be perfect for a visit and it is not too crowded. Thank you.
Thank you for the comment. This video was taped in the summer season. It was so hot… I recommend you to go here spring(4-6)or autumn (9-11). Have a good trip😊
thank you for VDO very love it i will go to kyoto end of march hope to join and visit 6 spots but muraji ramen is temporary closed .😿 (from Google map)
Hi there, really like your video. I am going to kyoto around late feb, but one thing that concern me is that how difficult for foreigner to take bus for traveling from one spot to the other spot as you suggest in this video? I love to travel by local bus in foreign country, but the lack of knowledge about japan area and doesnt speak japanese hinder me to do it. Any advice?
Thank you for comment. The bus is very convenient and cheap, but I think that it’s a little difficult for foreigners to take bus without Japanese knowledge. I think this site is useful for you. It’s Kyoto bus(subway) guide for tourists in English. And I will post the video about how to take a bus effectively. Please check the URL below and wait for a moment. www2.city.kyoto.lg.jp/kotsu/webguide/en/index.html
Thank you so much for the video. I am going to Kyoto at the end of January. Which temple to go to pray for love? Kiyomizu 's temple of love is closed so I need to find another temple.
Thank you for watching! Usually we go to Yasaka shrine to pray for love. Also Kamigamo shrine and Shimogamo shrine is known for love. Although Kibune shrine is far from central area, it’s very unique, so it’s worth visiting.
@@fromjapan4789 Thank you for the reply. I think I will go to all that you recommend but will pray to one God only.Which one works best? Do you workship different Gods in different temple? Which one your female friends try and actually work?
Thank you for your reply! Yasaka shrine seems best for you. There are many Japanese that can speak English, but I think that speaking English slowly would be better because many Japanese are not used to native English. Have a good trip!
I'm going to Kyoto soon in a couple of months so I was interested to see your video. It's very interesting, but can I make a suggestion not to swing camera around to fast, it's a little disorienting. Overall, though you showed some nice places, thank you.
