I had a straclassic Bubinga kit for a bit, had to get rid of it because the tuning rods on the toms and kick were constantly pulling out, so much so that i would have almost no kick every 3 songs or so! Great sounding kit, but Tama couldn't have cared less and just brushed me off. A local drum store guy told me that Bubinga vibrates more than any other wood causing an increase in rods pulling out, maybe that was it, maybe not?? either way they had to go :-(
Thanks for your comment. Yes I think the bubinga shell vibrates very strongly. So it's possible that that problem happen sometimes. But I did not heard from any TAMA artists about this problem in past. So I think it's due to LUG problem?? I'm not sure. Or it's possible due to drum head tuning or drum head itself. Anyway, thanks for your notes!
Bubinga doesn't vibrate any more than any other material. If anything it would vibrate LESS since it’s such a dense and heavy wood. I doubt even that since drum shell materials don’t vibrate anywhere near as much as most think. The problem you had were the lug inserts or tension rods were not machined properly. That was an issue you should have dealt with rather than selling such a world class kit. It’s kind of like getting rid of an expensive car due to a broken door handle. You fix the handle even if it costs you a few $$$.🤔
