今天和各位講應世無畏
Today I want to talk about
dealing with the world without fear.
我們到世間上來
When we were born in this world,
第一個事就是畏懼
our first emotion was fear.
你看小孩子才生下來就哇……
After a baby is born,
他就哭
it just keeps crying.
為什麼要哭 他怕
Why does it cry? Cause it's afraid.
跑到這個生疏的世間上來
It's not familiar with the world.
我都不認識
It knows nobody,
甚至誰是父親 誰是母親
even its father or mother
他最初都不認識
is new to it.
到他慢慢的認識他的父親、母親
After it slowly gets familiar
with its father or mother,
他生了這個愛他的心
it gives rise to an affection
for its parents,
他不怕了
it's no longer afraid
他要父親、要母親
of its father and mother.
他怕肚子餓
Whenever it fears hunger,
餓就哭
it cries straight away
哭了餓了要吃奶就給他奶吃
to signal for breast-feeding.
一個很高大的人站到他那邊
When a very tall man
is standing next to it,
生人他不認識
since he's someone it doesn't know,
他就哭
it cries.
那人走開他就不哭了
When the man leaves,
it stops crying.
這個人到世間上來就是畏懼
Men in the world are filled with fear.
很多的人畏懼苦、畏懼困難
Many people fear hardship,
fear difficulty,
畏懼貧窮、畏懼很多的艱難
fear poverty, fear challenges.
有畏懼的心不容易成功
A man with fear in mind
is not easy to gain success.
人生沒有什麼可畏懼的
There is nothing worth fearing in life.
世間上有什麼可以給你害怕呢
What things in the world make you fear?
你說讀書
Is it studying in schools?
給我們的智慧沒有可怕呀
It gives us wisdom,
why should we be afraid of it?
這個做工
Is it work then?
把事情做了就成功了就有待遇
Just get it done and
you will be paid for it.
沒什麼可怕呀
There is nothing to fear.
人家說話罵我、打我
Is it being scolded by others?
不是 他是教我的
Think like this:
he's teaching me a good lesson.
要感謝他
I should be thankful to him.
好事
This is a good thing.
這看你的心裡什麼看法
It depends on your thought,
心裡怎麼樣看待這個世間
and how you look at the world.
世間一切都是很美、很好的
Everything in the world is
beautiful and very good.
所以這個應無所畏
So there is nothing to fear.
當然世間上也有很多危害我們的
Of course in the world there are
many things that are harmful to us.
可怕呀
They're terrible!
比方說錢財
Say for example, wealth.
不義的錢財很可怕呀
Ill-gotten gains are very terrible.
正當的發財是不要緊
We need to make a fortune in a legal way.
有名位
If you've fame and position
那不當的名位
which is improper,
做強盜、做土匪
or you become a bandit or pirate,
給你做領袖也是很危險
it'll be a dangerous decision
to let you become a leader.
不要做 不可以的
Do not do it. No way.
就是總之壞的事情
Do not do bad things.
怕人家毀謗我們
If we're afraid of
being slandered by others,
怕人家批評我們
criticized by others,
怕人家嫌棄我們
disliked by others,
怕人家不要我們、不接受我們
abandoned and not accepted by others,
那就是畏懼啦
this is fear.
當然不好
Of course this is not good.
所以我們有一種自信
So we need self-confidence -
我很正派
I'm upright,
我做很正當
I do things properly,
我公平正義
I'm fair and full of justice.
我在這個世間上我沒有畏懼的
I harbor no fear in the world.
我做一個堂堂正正的人
I act as a rightful man.
我做堂堂正正的事情
I do rightful things.
我待人一切要做正正當當的
I get along with people
in a proper way
不去走歪路
and do not do anything wicked.
人家說走暗路就怕鬼
It's said that "One who walks
in the dark is afraid of ghosts."
世上有鬼沒有鬼我們不管它
Let's first put aside the question of
whether there are ghosts or not in the world.
不過心中有鬼
If one is inhabited by a ghost in mind,
心中那是做了不好的事情
that means he has done something bad.
當然

所以人不做虧心事
a clear conscience
半夜敲門不吃驚
is like a coat of mail.
只要我的
So long as I
行得正 坐得正
behave in a rightful manner,
都是說好話
say good words,
堂堂正正
and act rightfully,
我在世間上就不怕
I fear nothing in the world
人家來給我的欺負
and am not afraid of
being bullied by others.
應世無畏
Dealing with the world
我應付這個世間不畏懼
without fear.
真是美好的人生
