Another great video with many interesting ideas. I suppose you find Taiwan familiar and exotic at the same time. Familiar in the sense that you have witnessed how much this island has changed and how much of it remains unchanged, and in the sense that you know very well how to get around and how to survive. Exotic in the sense that you don’t take conventions for granted and in the sense that you can discover something new or thought-provoking at every corner. This duality is embodied in the photos and videos you take. At first glance, they are just random shots and slices of everyday life in Taiwan. But they really capture the essence of this land and the people on this land. However, I feel this channel is not just a vblog about Taiwan from a Canadian’s point of view. It’s much more than that. It’s about your thoughts and your storytelling through your camera, regardless of the topics presented in each video. I’m not surprised you used to watch late-night comedy shows. You have a wonderful sense of humor. It’s a bit deadpan, but your smile is too heart-warming for deadpan jokes. In contrast to a stand-up comedian who performs on stage to a live audience, you walk around the city talking to your small camera. Maybe you would be a “walk-around” comedian? But so many comedians are depressed. RU-vid is a much more wholesome career option for your semi-retired life. 😊 I can tell you enjoy what you’ve been doing. Your enthusiasm simply comes through on the screen. If you treat this RU-vid channel as your job, I hope it will be a rewarding job creatively, emotionally, (and financially one day). Thank you again. I look forward to the next video.
Nice comment. Thanks. Taiwan is familiar and exotic. It never gets old maybe because I am always only staying for a short time. However at the end of every visit I feel a stronger connection to the place.
I appreciate the name of your channel, your narration and your thoughts. In my very limited internet surfing experiences, it's uncommon to encounter something like your video. Thank you for sharing.
Watching your video is great for the beginning of the-day.. yesterday I went to Kao Chong fine art museum. I think It’s a good place for visitor to understand the city.
Wise words Mr. Bob, I appreciate the light hearted messeges with much hidden wisdom, also that personalized, trade-marked quirk of yours is very charming. Taiwan awaits your return!
Bob, welcome back to Taiwan and thank you for your pointing out many things should be improved especially the noisy bikes in local markets, cleaning the toilet during people are still inside, yes that is really weird。
From RU-vid's suggestion, just today I find Bob's video (RU-vid). I climbed the Apes Hill with Bob and his friend about 2 months ago. Have a nice next trip! That's good to know your channel and different views of the city and people.
Regarding the fast food, when I ate at a Burger King in New Taipei City, it was the only time it's looked like it does in the adverts. Tasted great! Couldn't believe such a thing could exist.
This is the best YT video I’ve seen in years. I’m a Taiwanese who is not from Kaohsiung but has been living here for a decade. Kaohsiung became neat and human in your perspective; it’s so beautiful. I’m practically a single father, and sadly, my son is about to leave me soon for the USA. I'm not sure when I can see him again. I honestly hope the way you present Kaohsiung is how he would remember the life here. Thank you for making this video.
thanks for the laughs, Bob. I wish i had known you earlier before you left Taiwan. Please keep the spirit making people's day with your sense of humor : )
I'll be back in Taiwan this autumn. In the mean time, I might make a video or two so stay tuned. Thanks for watching. I'm happy you like my sense of humour.
This is great bob... had go to back to Taiwan unexpectedly this last few weeks after last November 2023 due to my father-in-law's passing and man do I miss Taiwan from Vancouver. Plan to retire here a few months of the year if I can in a few years
I like your perceptions/views on Taiwan. Maybe it still has some flaws, but I can clearly feel your love and respect for Taiwan from your comments. These comments may seem a bit heavy, but people can deeply touch by your words.
For the first comment, one of my male friends from US has the same awkward feeling like yours. For the swimming cap one, I am pretty sure the answer is YES here in Taiwan😂.
Agree with the mopeds at the outdoor market - hate them. Looks like a Bluejays cap - If you are from Toronto, hope your pained Maple Leafs win the cup.
dang, just missed the first post. anyway, now that I travel around the whole of Tiawan, Like Kauhousing the best. As said in Hawaiian, No Ko Oi' "the very best"
I wish you could have an interview with Gweilo 60, a Canadian vloger living in Nanning for 20 years+, it could be much fun to watch you guys to talk each other.
s a Taiwanese, I believe it is mainly due to Taiwan's location in the subtropical region, where the weather is often hot and humid, making it easy to sweat. Therefore, hair is generally considered less hygienic compared to countries in colder climates. Additionally, not wearing a swim cap can pose several problems, including hair floating in the pool, hair clogging filtration systems, poorly constructed drainage holes leading to accidents, and difficulties in cleaning hair residues in the pool. Even in Olympic competitions, athletes are required to wear swim caps. I'm glad that your trip to Taiwan was fruitful. Welcome to visit Taiwan again, and hopefully, by then, Taiwan will have become a better and more progressive country.
The countdown begins 267 days until you can do it all again. Well done creating 22 episodes this season. You could almost watch back through them and make a best of season 4 montage.
Don’t think that after you retire you can do whatever you want, just be illegal but not caught? How can I not get my shoes wet if I often walk by the river?
"The most important thing to do in your life is to not interfere with somebody else's life." - Frank Zappa (in response to Joe Walsh asking FZ what the meaning of life was. Thank you for this quotation. Your talking is so full of philosophy.
