I'm not totally sure this place belongs to someone or a place where this mom and baby are housed. I know they often seek out what they believe to be a safe place to have their baby. This is a perfect example of a caring mom. I noticed how she was licking the umbilical cord. This takes care of any infection. She is keeping her baby clean and free of pest.
U are seeing a 4 ft square of that cage u have no idea what is outside the camera view. And if u clean in in an hr it would look like that again it's just in their nature every primates nature to make a mess. And they aren't as active where they r so they can't eat the normal 5000 plus calories a day they would because they would become obese they both have good weight and look clean so seems all is well.
This made me wanna cry! That tiny baby tried with all his might to stretch, stretch, and stretch some more trying to get just a crumb of that bread momma was eating. Even when it was stuck between his tiny wrinkly fingers she moved and it fell. She pulled him in close and just like a human baby he still riggled around trying to get free and get back to that bread. She refused to let him loose. So he resorted to the tried and true, teet, it's always hangin around somwhere! Dang! Mom moves again and yanks it out of his mouth. Poor boy he can't even get his normal nutrition. So the poor thing just sits there so quiet and blinking his precious big brown eyes. I kept cheering for him and really thought he'd get ahold of some of that bread. No such luck. Not today. His blinking, batting eyes is what almost sent me over the tears cliff, I fought 'em off & now I'm good! What can I say? I love animals. Anyone else who truly does too, knows what I mean! Lol
@spookienewton They are in a safe place, their habitat is being destroyed, and there aren’t many left. Orangutan mothers only produce 3-4 offspring in their lives.

The dumb ape was licking the youngsters butt then stuck its fingers in the kids butt and was sniffing and licking its own fingers.🤮 Most intelligent beings don't eat poop. Not sure about you but I sure don't. These apes are clearly not intelligent and either like the taste of ass or have zero taste buds. I'm not saying there is anything sexual with this video, it's just foul. No other primate that I have seen has done this.

@@frosty-mm9th SHE IS CLEANING IT. Maybe your mother did not clean you. But she does. And before you yell again: she has no tube and a wall from which she gets warm water. She has go do it as every cat or dog or whatever animal.
She isnt doing anything out of the ordinary!! This baby is obviously very young, and newborns may need stimulation to relieve themselves. Also, if you think about it, and uncircumcised human baby would need his "little skin flap" cleaned out with every diaper change!! Orangutans are NOT all that dissimilar to us, so I can guarantee that she is doing nothing more than what she is supposed to do! She seems to be a very caring and attentive mother. And as for the comment about the push away while suckling... the baby is NOT lacking for nourishment, their primitive reflex is to suckle every time they are close to the teat, and you can only imagine how many times that happens per day seeing as how they are perma-clung to mom for a whole year...
Baby seems to have a nice round belly, in my opinion. It's like humans, my daughter was a somewhat "skinny baby" but it was not from malnourishment! She was a VERY healthy eater. We all come in different shapes and sizes, orangutans included. It's definitely tough to tell one way or another through the video. It very well may be a completely different story in person...
These beautiful creatures are so tender an loving, they very much need to be protected an saved from extinction. There utter innocence an beautiful need to be cherished
I don't know if it is the same for orangutans as it is for kittens and puppies but I know from bottle feeding very young kittens& pups that you must rub and stimulate their bottoms to get them to potty.Some mammal Mothers do this to clean up the mess and of course it's too make sure all the plumbing is working ;-)
Yes! Absolutely! It makes me so mad when people sexualize these things. Breasts were made for feeding babies and if animals had diapers and wipes, I'm sure they would use them but since that isn't the case, they stimulate and clean them, because that's what a good mommy does.
I love watching Mom & baby but it really bothers me that the enclosure looks filthy. Shame on this place for not taking care of their animals. If you can't take better care of animals, then give them to a sanctuary.
So you think they should be in like, what? A hospital room with stainless steel and white sheets, etc? You don't think in the outdoors that they are laying on the dirt? Bugs crawling on them.... step maybe on someone's elses poo from time to time and might need to clean themselves? More damned experts on RU-vid than anywhere in the world, I'm sure they appreciate your help and suggestions. Looks fine to me, next time they will straighten up the enclosure for you if that will make you happy. Orangatang and mom however are fine..... but for you.

People complaining about "filthy" enclosures are literally anthropomorphizing animals to suit their specific perception of what a "proper" environment should look like.

She is actually a very good mom, she was very sick when she was young and raised by humans. While she was pregnant they gave her a doll and showed her what to do. It seems to have worked :)
Such touching Orangutan mummy, taking care, with tenderness, to his so cute baby! But why the surrounding seem to be so dirty? Such a mess! These nice orangutan, already not in their natural forest, deserves so much better please...it's no respectable. 😘🙏😍🐒🍀
So what if he does? It is VERY common for young male orangutans to behave sexually with their moms starting at a very young age and the moms almost always allow it all the way up to the little actually achieving penetration. Young females display sexual behavior as well but not quite as frequently as the males. There is no stigma attached to sex for animals, they do not feel it is bad..they are no morals attached to it. Biologically the only issue would be possible genetic issues due to reproducing as a result of incest but that is not a problem since it is no longer occurring by the time the Male is old enough to "make babies"!!
