Hello guys. What a way to wake up. With all due respect, we wanted to respond to the comments we’ve received so far. There is a reason why we do not listen to the MV with subtitles the first time. We want to fully focus on the MV. The second time we watch the MVs is then with subtitles. After listening/watching with subtitles to ‘’set me free’’, we understand where he is coming from, and we support him wanting to express his hardships, we still didn’t like the way the message was delivered. We believe you can appreciate the message, but not necessarily like the song. One of the main messages of this song is to ‘’set him free’’, yet some of you guys have asked us to not express our opinions, to stop reacting to BTS, or just to express them only if we like them. With this, you guys are going against Jimin’s whole message. If you have been a BTS fan following them for a while, you would know that they stand for respecting everyone, and stop any type of hate. What you guys are doing doesn’t do any good to BTS and the fandom. We absolutely adore Jimin, and we support him trying different things, this specific one was just not our personal liking. You do not have to like every song they put out. Yet we look forward to listening to the rest of the album, and any future work. Some of you mention that he does dance in this MV. When we mentioned that he was not dancing, it was in the first half of the video, when he really hadn’t started dancing. One of Jimin’s strongest virtue is his dancing skills. He is one of the most extraordinary dancers in k-pop industry, and we were just surprised how he was not really showing that side of him as much in the first half. We’ve also got someone mentioning our reaction was done for the views. This was a bit surprising for us because if we were looking for views, we wouldn’t have been honest. Instead, we would have just said what everyone wants to hear. For the people that understood and respected our opinion, regardless of having a different opinion themselves, we want to thank you for the healthy feedback. Listening to others opinions/thoughts respectfully, regardless of your own is how every human should go about to make this world a better place. Please treat others with respect. We are 30 year old women, and these comments do not affect us as it would if we were younger. But we are genuinely concerned about the younger generations suffering from online bulling, and being unable to express their thought freely with respect, like Jimin’s message. We’ve been ARMYS for years, and we will always be there for them and support them, but that doesn’t mean we need to like everything they do blindfully. Please, let’s treat each other kindly with respect ♥

We don't understand why you mention your age in this context. When we mention ours its because online bullying is not ok, and concerned about younger generations. We've already said we support Jimin's message, we just didn't enjoy the song as an overall.

The song is an anthem. Jimin has struggled with himself and the hatred of others. Everything in this song was done on purpose. The auto tone were the different inter voices. The Nevermind tattoo and the German poem written across his body, the rings, the choreography, and the set all had deep meaning. This song is amazing, and I’m so proud of Jimin. 💜❤️💜

Why are you guys so confused the lyrics and mv are very clear to me?? And if you know jimin past you would maybe understand more about what "set me free means" I understand that many people don't like autotune but he use it in a good way. you may not understand the deep meaning of the song: the conflict that Jimin has with himself. These 2 voices, including the modified one, are the inner voices of Jimin and the outer one that he expresses. There is a lot of duality, The dark outfit towards the light outfit, from shadow (in relation to the song Shadow from MOTS7) to light, from imprisonment to freedom. Lots of links also with Lie, Filter, Mots7. Jimin needs our support! Nothing is chosen randomly, everything is considered. A powerful and revealing song was needed on this album.

I respect your honesty. I personally love this song and Jimin’s dark style presented in the mv. The thing about not liking some of your idols’ songs is absolutely normal. I also didn’t really like some of BTS songs but that didn’t stop me from loving them ❤
'shut up' 'fuck off' 'I'm on my way' Jimin is expressing himself so clearly in this song. "I'll move on and I won't be the doll of others." So it's up to the listener to decide whether to accept it or not. We can choose and Jimin doesn't need anyone's understanding.

Autotune is a stylistic tool. It’s not about “he doesn’t need it” or his voice is “already beautiful”. That’s not why it was used. It’s literally just a vocal effect. For example, t-pain has an amazing voice but he is known for using autotune purely for stylistic purposes. I actually don’t mind it, it makes the song feel eerie and unsettling which goes well with the title and lyrics. I respect your opinion though. I wasn’t initially sure about the song but it’s grown on me alot. I’m interested in hearing the live version of it.

It was amazing. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But I don't feel you guys understood what Jimin was saying. Did you read the meaning. Artists grow and just don't stay in one place and I think many people expected the same BTS Jimin, which I too love. But he is expanding and and growing and experimenting.

Confuse? Auto tune? Obviously you're not aware of as "fan" of BTS it's ok if u say directly you don't like the song at all! just for the reason that you are confuse on this video he's using autotune like they never used autotune before hello? And u mentioned that he doesn't really "dance" here can't u see? Jimin doesn't have to dance choreography wise from the entire video he's good at expressing his emotions through his moves from head to toe. No one can tell you how you should adore your idol/ artist. You can't like everything someone does. There really is no such thing as unconditiona adorations, because liking a celebrity has conditions, specific conditions, and when that conditions are not met, it's disappointing because there are certains things you expect and wants to see them be fulfilled. No one can fault you for having likes and dislikes. It's your feelings and emotions after all. But, as you explained in your comment, BTS is all about accepting differences. They are about accepting the fact that people are different and should not be fit into a box, which you two are trying to do with Jimin and Jhope. You can have expectations, of course you can, but what you two are doing is questioning and doubting his and Jhope's choices just because the songs were not to your tastes. Even going further as if saying it was a mistake. That's the vibe you two are giving out, and probably the reason why people are being harsh. As a fellow ARMY, it's always great to have different views about our boys, their works and such. It's okay to not like the songs they release, but maybe having more open minds to what our boys are working on would be advisable? Because they are going to experiment more and more. They are going to show us sides that we never thought would see. If you continue to keep them in your boxes, you will repeatedly become disappointed in them.
If artist don’t try new things then they are not progressing or growing and it gets old when they stick to one style or one thing all the time maybe this style always is something that’s been a part of him but he never got chance to show it cause he’s had to sacrifice it for the group. In their video where they announce their break they did say they’re gonna show of side of them that none of us have seen and show it all so it’s not confusing it’s just a side of them that we’ve never seen that they finally get to show in lyrics say set me free and I’m finally free meaning finally it gets to show 100 percent of Jimin
Not sure where you're going with this, but the whole point is to put you in that state of shock. You're both speechless. This is clearly a portrayal of the struggle Jimin has been going through throughout his journey. That "messy" you're referring to is that personal struggle. It's not meant to be pretty. And Jimin WAS dancing. Maybe you have a different idea of what dancing is (coming from a dancer). This is Jimin telling you not to put him in a box, kinda like what you're both doing in this reaction. But it's good to see your honesty. Just be open to be educated along the way. 💜
I honestly love it, and i think the auto tone used to give this song different favor throughout. I think u should have seen the video with subtitles because the choreo and the lyrics fits perfectly

Auto tune was used purely for creativity and nothing more. We all know Jimin has amazing vocal range, where as other Artists that use it because they can't sing. It was purely for ART!
Jimin has always tried to do things that other artists probably don’t even try to try new style and genre. Sorry you should keep your opinion to yourself if you don’t like the song it’s not every cup of tea. You have put this video to bring ate to him. It’s not like every BTS song every army likes. But matters us to most the lyrics . He literally explained his past music journey with this song .Black swan also has autotune but it was masterpiece .
1st listen is understandably shocking. It shocked me but after the second listen I loved it since its fire. The lyrics matches everything in that video . How can you appreciate a song w/o reading the lyrics? Its a lopsided opinion if its not based on complete facts only then you would understand how he used his vocals and placed the auto tunes. If after that your opinion is still unchanged then the opinion would be more acceptable since its based on the totality of the music and not just parts of it. Music preference is always different from people to people and should be respected and I'm just proud of and happy for Jimin that he was able to put this out there. The fact that this song has no middle ground says a lot about how great of an artwork this is. Either you love or hate it BUT Jimin never ever settles for mediocrity in his work.

I respect your opinion. But I have to say, how do people expect artists to grow if they don’t go out of their comfort zones? I admire Jimin for doing something we’ve never heard from him before. I agree the autotune was a little excessive, i know the producer pdogg LOVES auto tune lol. in particular in the second verse but otherwise it’s really not that bad like people are making it seem to be lol.

I agree with you the auto tune was well place and honestly did not detract from the song. It was placed when he was addressing things with anger not when he was explaining his side w/c was presented through his softer singing voice. The fact that people are debating about this particular song just shows how great of a song this is. People would not bother giving it props or put it down so much if it did not affect them in such a cerebral way that makes them react this way. As Jimin said "fnck off opps. " BUT still Jimin also asks for respect of one's opinion like what he's saying. So let's all just be respectful of one another's opinions provided they were respectfully given or made.
For people who can't get over the use of autotune, you really don't understand the nuances of it. To simply write off any song that utilises it is simply ludicrous. Go listen to the Beatles on an LP record then. This is modern music and has been for a long time. It coincides with his music maturation and a song worthy of crossing over to the Western music charts. Even critics have to at least agree that this song sounds like the Billboard hits of today. Of all reactors ive watched this is the only channel who didnt like it while everyone was shocked and appreciated it, clapped and wowed and those are even professionals in the music field to even choosing it as the best song they have heard from a bts member. You just watched it once not even bothered to check the lyrics as armys always do or Just say your bias is another member thats why straight up saying you didnt like it. Mind you a certain Nathan Walters, former boyband member and producer chose it as his fave after listening to some BTS group songs and solos to claiming Jimin is his fave member.
