WheeIn has other videos for her other songs in this album. They aren’t as high production. This is her first album with her new company. Ravi’s company. They are fun and each has a different vibe. She did a good interview with two guys talking about it.
I just want to add Cyndi Lauper was in South Korea (I believe for a musical) when LMM was released. In an interview she said Hwasa's LMM was on her playlist...that song is a masterpiece for many, many different reasons, Hwasa has such a beautiful mind and heart. And lastly she is, finally, having a comeback in September!
LMM and Maria were my favorite songs of 2020 with LMM getting the nod for my personal SOTY because is such a gorgeous masterpiece. I thought your interpretations of both songs were very good. I'll add a few details that occurred to me: The arrows follow Hwasa from outdoors (public space) to the living room to her bedroom to the small womblike wooden space that's like an isolation chamber, signifying that the hate she receives is inescapable and crosses the line from criticism of her public persona as Hwasa to her personal life, her love life and her innermost self as Ahn Hyejin. She feels trapped and attacked no matter what she does or where she goes and can't find any comfort or relief. The solution comes when she realizes that the only hate that can truly hurt her is self-hate and after that realization she is able to stand exposed and vulnerable without being fearful or defiant, simply accepting what comes her way like a flower in the rain of arrows. As the camera pulls away the thousands of arrows are transformed into a field of flowers surrounding her, signifying they've been disarmed. As with the audition she failed because of her looks she turned obstacles and criticism into an opportunity to redefine beauty and express herself. I think many moomoos see Make Me Happy as Wheein's celebration of liberation from RBW and the butterflies as symbolic of the transformation to her true self as an artist. She said she wanted to refresh herself by moving to a different environment and there's no doubt she's been successful. She's been noticeably happier and more relaxed and confident in public since she signed with TheL1ve. She used to be the member moomoos worried about the most because of her shyness and social anxiety but I don't think it's necessary to cast RBW as the villain and Wheein as the victim. The way I look at it, switching labels gave Wheein the chance to become the author of her own narrative and re-write the balance between her personal and professional life in a way that works for her. I no longer worry about her mental health.
DG can you add a reaction to hwasa's "Nobody Else" its the intro to maria..its only few minutes but the mv and lyrics and her voice...will make you feel goosebumps of what she went thru..it should of won an award for those 2 minutes alone..just wow her artistry
Just realised that at 27:15 if you look at the door in that room it kinda looks like "Wheein in Wonderland" is written on it. Just saw it right after you said it reminds you of Alice in Wonderland vibe.
hwasa has never been my bias in the group but my heart broke when the arrow hit her. the song is so emotional and powerful. I feel like both hwasa and wheein open up a lot in their solo works in terms of expressing their personal feelings - love it a lot! moonbyul and solar's work are more ..uplifting in my opinion? maybe that's the style they want to pursue. also love it a lot!
