Another detail about Tamers I liked was how the level of threat was steadily increased. That there was a little riff in the bridge that connects the real world to the digital world, one that was just small enough so that small packs of data could slip through. That meant smaller and therefore often weaker Digimon could enter the real world while the bigger, stronger ones were held back. Then through the attempt of sending the wild Digimon back to their world, Hypnos accidentially widened the riff, resulting in larger Digimon (the Deva) being able to enter the real world, though increasing the threat level in a logical fashion. I thought this was a much more elegant way of handling it than Adventure and Adventure 02 did, where the threat level of enemy Digimon conveniently increased based on what the children could deal with at any given time.
one correction. Adding the Cardgame was not something he planned to do from the start, as it was actually pretty much his one and only demands from the higher ups. He got free reign to do what he wanted mostly... but he HAD to include the cardgame as an actual thing in universe, as the company was frustrated it hadnt been a part of either adventure series. Now good on him for actually doing something interesting with it, and making it work, but lets not pretend it was not something that originated as an editorial mandate.
they also wanted to iclude ryou from the games... even konakas version had nothing much to do with the one of the games (yeah he went into another universe in the end of the last one, wich was spposed to be the tamers universe, but we saw ryous father and ryous flashbacks of his first meeting with digimon so it doesn't line up)
Konaka's early planning notes state the following: "However, the characters of "Digimon Adventures" seasons 1 and 2, whom children loved, will be the heroes of the children in their series, like mentors and idols. When the series has begun to turn, there may be some value in letting them appear." and "I have thought about introducing Digimon, even characters from Season 1 and 2. The children in the audience would be very happy to see characters they recognize make another appearance, and at the same time we could make a strong impact on one of the concepts of the third season, that fiction, in the form of the Network (Digital World) is invading reality." 5:03 could the mewtwo movie and pokemon the movie 3 be counterexamples to this? Pokemon movie 3 has a young child traumatized by the loss of her father believe that a pokemon is her father, she basically goes Elsa on her world and kidnaps ash's mom.
I'm not speaking particularly about how tragic events occur in a medium. Rather, I'm referring to the fact that I'm not aware of any Pokemon story that involves its characters taking a step back and examining why everything works the way it works. Have any writers of the Pokemon franchise ever taken the time to deconstruct what Pokemon is? What it all means?
@@whattheegad in terms of the games I would say gen v was probably the closest since they seemed to want to discuss the ethics of capturing and fighting creatures. But this was in the games. The movies I mentioned were more along the lines of mature themes present in the pokemon franchise.
@@whattheegad the anime adaptation for gen v may have gone in a similar direction but was compromised by a real world natural disaster that caused much of the plans for that season to be scrapped.
@@whattheegad I really want that end cap of apoclymon and the whole y2k stuff he represents as well as the concept of junk data making him well one of the more interesting villains, certainly more interesting than the villains in the reboot
