Just For The Record GARY GLITTER sold his rights to his music to sony records back in the 90s, he does NOT receive any royalties for any of his early hits including this one. NOT EVEN FROM THE FILM THE JOKER. so what you read in the media is COMPLETE BOLLOCKS.
It needs to be played at sporting events again. I miss hearing after every Goal or Home Run then telling the opposing Goalie or Pitcher He Sucks! Only hear it at Heat games.
ChizBoyMentality Also I have a sudden urge to put white facepaint on my face with blue triangles above and below my eyes with a red smile over my mouth and dyeing my hair green
I remember listening to this in the NAAFI of RAF Waddington in 1972, the year it was released. It was a Vulcan bomber base, where I could sit near the runway watching the amazing delta wing jets taking off in the summer sunshine and soaring upwards into a cloudless sky. Seems like another universe to me now, but I am just so grateful that I had the opportunity to be there then.
Teenager you say? I think Gary probably wouldn't have been able to get enough of you either! .... well, then again, maybe not. Even 13 was a bit old for his tastes.
@@andymatthews7617 You're being ironic, I hope. This has nothing to do with being PC, it's about a child abuser getting (at least a fraction) of what he deserves.
@@Trotskyxx so MJ Jackson gets away with serious offences against kids because of skin color (or lack of it ..lol ) ..but They really stick it to Gary because of a Dalliance with a Young WOMAN . . . . .-This was Pololitical all along ....THEY are trying to tell us (brainwashing) who to LOVE ...and who to HATE . . . .
was no controversy he is a pedophile who was released from prison then got caught yet again doing the same thing he did that got him into prison kiddy porn
Well I thought women liked older men (or should I say "sugar daddies") though? Sure seems that way with all of these pretty young girls I see on Facebook wasting themselves with these old, ugly, balding, pedophile looking esc. creeps who they can't possibly find attractive, which makes me sick too!
I don't care about his "issues". I'm 70. A 30 year career Marine, retired. Half way thru a fine bottle of Grand Marnier. Couldn't give a f*** less now or ever.
@Joe Guitar The Sweet were the classic example of a band who wanted to do one thing, but record company had other ideas. If they'd been allowed to go their own way, they'd not have been so popular, but they'd have had far more integrity, and no doubt have been much heavier, if Hellraiser is anything to go by.
Well said brian, tragic that bloody so called radio stations don't play his records anymore, the glitter band did nothing wrong yet get tarred with the same brush, disgusting.
id say it was more like the late great Mike Leander, he penned all the songs & played most of the instruments on the records, only 2 glitter band members appeared on the records, although they did back him fantastically on the live gigs.... i say mike gets the credit for his success.... heaven forbid we cant give gary any...
Bad things? Bad things. You make it sound like he cheated on his wife or didn't pay taxes. Perhaps you should do a bit of research. Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of pics of CP. Young, young children at that. He got out of prison, was arrested for it again. That's only what he got caught doing. He destroyed so many children's lives. Just so he could get off. It's vile... not bad. Vile.
@@ReneeWright69 It's also "Bad"....fuck your semantics. Everyone knows what this creep did...give it a fucking rest already. North Canuck was just stating this music was good. What he did has nothing to do with his music. So fuck off already.. The guy was one of the worst child predictors to ever exist....along with Muhammed.
@@ReneeWright69... shut up you sanctmonious tit. Like to lord it over people do you? ...you knew exactly what North Canuck was saying. He doesn't have to write a fucking dissertation like you to make a point.
Witam. HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!❤
I think djs should play his music, if people dont want to listen to it why not hit the off switch or change stations, but for myself, I want to hear his and the glitter band songs.
As a child of the 70’s , I and many of my peers danced to this music, as we did with Bill Wyman and watched Roman Polanski films. Who watches the watchmen?
What always got me when I heard this record -- and here in the US Pt. 2 was the only Gary Glitter we heard, aside from a few stations playing "I'm The Leader Of The Gang I Am", which went nowhere over here otherwise -- it was the guitar sound that always caught my ear. It was so gnarly and intense sounding. Only later we discover that Mike Leander had a guitar tuned to all A's, and he used a slide to make the chords. Very cool. And the guitar player in this band, who's playing the star shaped guitar, is probably playing the same thing here, even though it's a mime and he's having trouble keeping the strap connected. There's a vid of the Glitter Band playing in Europe somewhere, maybe in the 80s or 90s and the same guy, same guitar, he's playing the same thing live, using a slide, and it sounds identical to the record. I think there's a 70s live clip of the band backing Gary Glitter, and they're playing the same thing live, too. Very cool sound. And example of how an unorthodox tuning could add to the sound of a record.
Dude, that's an amazing explanation and no doubt correct but Gazza's 'activities' have tainted all of his music, which is a shame because he was an integral part of that 70's scene!
@@rocketman57 eventuly he will be celebrated by the LGBTQ movement anyway, who's whole agenda is to eventualy have a "P" added to that and lump paedophillia in with homosexuality and have it widely accepted. They already have with transgenderism which has nothing to do with homosexuality, its got no more to do with it than hetrosexuality has. In fact that has more in common with it as its an indivudual wanting to be the opposite gender so they have have a what appears to be a "normal hetrosexual" relationship. Such as a man who is now a woman who wants a reationship or marriage with a straight man. However everyone associates it now with gay & lesbian. So they will push to get a P added and talk about discrimmination againt them. That's what they have gradualy moved this movement and rainbow flag into schools etc for. It's no coincidence it's a "rainbow" flag something that appeals to and attracts children. Rainbows were always associated with kids who love them, the bright colours. There are lots of people within that movement who have been fooled into thinking its genuinely about gay rights etc when really those behind it have an agenda to ever so gradualy expose & sexualise children and get paedophillia accepted.
My first memories of this song is when it was played during our timeouts during high school football. Also, it was played a lot during NBA timeouts like when the Patrick Ewing Knicks battles the Michael Jordan Bulls in the playoffs.
I agree with what some people say, that his music and Glitter Band cannot be discredited. The can't discredit that part . Local musicians have said over the years that Rock and Roll is a great Glam rock track.
can remember when this song came out my mother would listen to the song and dance to it i was only 9 years old my mom has pass on keep on dancing to the song rip mom
Remember this song in72(?) and we went went into the square with our our tennis rackets and shouted ' rock and roll and hey hey ' fab times with terry Tinsel aka Gaz
It was the same thing with Elvis. Jimmy Page and countless others. And dont forget the girls are not all innocent. They throw themselves at rock stars in the form of groupies.
In December '72 I had just joined the 6th Form and embarked on an illicit relationship with the prettiest teacher in school and as Head Boy ran the School Socials (school dances) and this was what it was all about! Man what Days of Thunder! Paul Gadd is a Devil, but Gary Glitter was a God!!
Wow this song is the height of sophistication. Such awesome deep lyrics, I don't know how they managed to think of them. And the singer looks like a really salt of the earth bloke.
