Not saying your wrong about the anime but, with such a statement of a title I thought you'll talk about the whole franchise which is way bigger than just the anime. I think outside of the anime morden digimon is doing pretty good with the tcg, model kits, v-pets and video games.

Great video! You're right -- I'd say with the exception of Appmon which surprisingly had a lot to say about artificial intelligence and how we employ the technology, Digimon has lost all interest in exploring tech, time, and kids relationships to both. Now I only get that tech commentary from Hosoda's films Summer Wars and Belle, which I view as spiritual sequels to the golden age of Digimon storytelling

Digimon Ghost Game's closest comparison is Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters, so it made people want to wait before giving a verdict because Appmon was judged harshly early for stuff that ultimately wasn't so bad.

Thank you for referencing my video in this work. It's very flattering and I feel bad that if it hadn't been for a friend of mine, I'd have missed it entirely. I had checked out your channel when you initially left comments, but as most of your Digimon-related content was looking at the anime I was making my second video on, I abstained. I haven't watched much of 2020 or anything of Ghost Game, feeling like it would be some sort of 'reward' once I got my work done, though watching this video now has taken some wind out of my sails that my reward may not be rewarding. But that might be my fault as I allowed myself to see someone else's opinion of a work I haven't seen for myself.

Yeah it’s sad. I’m curious what you think now. An interview with the show runner said they targeted this to the current generation and said he felt TikTok gave kids short attention spans so they made ghost game episodic. It’s weird how I can loooove the characters but hate this season. So much squandered potential.

When I usually pick a new series to follow is because the idea behind it sounds good and I expect it to entertain my interests. Sometimes it just doesn't happen and that is my experience with Ghost Game in a nutshell. As a longtime Digimon fan, that hurts, but with the lack of any significant plot development in over 20 episodes I was forced to drop the show.

I would say appmon does the concept of technology better than ghost game especially the concept on how human have been relying on smartphone app. Ghost Game took a lot of inspiration from appmon but appmon does it's concept way better and it's monster of the week are less and not like 90% of the show compare too ghost game where we're in episode 32 and we still don't get must progression.

Im going to be honest, After Digimon Frontier I stopped watching the anime completly until Tri came out and I watched like the first OVAs that they released and never got back to it. I havent seen anything from the new modern digimon since then. The videogames are getting better and better but the anime is like... Idk I get lazy and also is because probally im not watching TV anymore. Back then we had more chances to see something given to us and we would watch it because had no better but nowadays... Well I think I have time to finish digimon tri and start with the new digimon adventure anime. Lets see how it goes.

I gotta admit that Digimon Ghost game for me is middle tier, it not blowing me away but it isn't without value either. I have to disagree with you that the Digimon fandom will accept anything. That's why Digimon Frontier is not that popular with some fans because of the lack of Digimon partners and that it was too similar to Power Rangers. Nobody talks about Digimon Savers. Digimon Xros Wars was fantastic but I've heard online that there are people who call it one of the worst seasons with is just incorrect, and the Digimon spinoff Appmon is never talked about and failed to catch on, which is a shame because I think it captured the timeframe very well. Digimon Adventure Tri and Digimon Adventure 2020 are my trash. That just goes to show that the Nostalgia is strong and hard to escape. Of the series I mentioned Adventure Tri and (2020) are the most flawed in the franchise in my opinion, I still enjoy them because Digimon is my comfort. I do love your points about how Digimon was a perfect time capsule in the world of the late 90s to early 2000s, showing the rapid development in the world. I also liked your point about Taichi maturing after coming back to the real world the first time, and also how Digimon peaked with Tamers, there is just so many layers to unpack with that seasons. I'm going to stick with Ghost game so I can see the big picture and judge it intelligently and where it lies in the franchise.

As an old school Digimon fan, I loved or at least like aspects from the first five seasons. I don’t know if it is my age, but new Digimon doesn’t feel the same anymore. Granted the only Digimon content I have seen is what has been dubbed, so I haven’t seen Ghost Game or Applimon, but it doesn’t seem to be as ageless as prior seasons were.

They probably have already but I wonder if they'll adopt the story concepts from Cyber Sleuth into a show. The idea being that the human world at large isn't sure how Digimon came about or were developed, but they are commonplace and quickly became Flintstons' appliances/smart devices. But they're living creatures, and our internet brushed up against and poked a hole into their world. So it's a blend of modern tech, a little futurism, and Digimon magic. Antics and even a form of cosmic horror ensue. A lot of interesting concepts are in that game, but it isn't the best written and your character doesn't have any partner Digimon with personalities.

I feel a major problem with ghost game is the genre it’s in, that being horror. If you look at most popular episodic horror shows they usually have a different cast each episode, because that means the cast may not always survive by the end which adds to the terror.

Holy shit sir i think i love you. I've been feeling this way since they made episode 3 an exact repeat of episode 1. I fight with people all the time that it's 2022 and you can have an episodic show with an over arching plot. It's really not hard, but GG just runs on it being digimon and showing digimon that haven't been animated yet. They gear a it to be a " kids show" but show people being hurt and murdered all the time to start the show off. Why kids show do this all the time, GG marketed the horror franchise to sell plushies and the VB. The VB is another thing that ticks me off beyond believe when it comes to GG. The whole team along with Kyiro " boy genius" does nothing to try to solve the VB mystery. No analyzing it or trying to use to open a digiportal. yet the show exists to sell the VB.

Frankly speaking, while a reimagening was doomed to failure, a remake with better animation, still set in the old time, that fixed some of the old character and plot problems could probably have worked pretty well.
