I know that Eurovision 2020 has been cancelled. As heartbreaking as this news is, it is also important to stay connected as one Eurovision family and continue to find strength and inspiration through the universal language of music. I will move forward with posting these reaction videos as I originally intended and promised. #EurovisionStrong
Dear Jake, thank you for still continuing your reaction series despite the cancellation. That means so much in these days... the situation feels dire and scary at the moment... so it's great that we Eurovision community are there for each other.... I'm sending love and strength from Germany 💝
Regarding your question: Ben Dolic isn't an established artist here in Germany. He came second in The Voice of Germany in 2018 but other than that he wasn't really known here. He's more of a newcomer :)
Jake’s Face Reacts No, it was an internal selection this time (and it‘ll probably stay internal for a while). Two juries (a fan jury and a so-called 'expert' jury) voted on more than 500 songs and Ben Dolic‘s Violent Thing won :) Switzerland has the same internal selection process as far as I know
Ben is from Slovenia and took part in their selection in 2016. Later, he moved to Switzerland and in January to Berlin. He came also second in the Voice of Germany (you have to check out his performances, they are outstanding). So he isn't really established and more of a newcomer.
I really love Germany this year...but now it doesn't even matter... 😳😧😣 Jake please continue with your recations,we well need it... Germany please have song equally great as this one next year...
Germany: I just love this. They better not screw up the staging (if he competes in 2021). Might be the 2nd best entry from Germany in a while. You can’t beat 2018! Btw continue to react despite being canceled.
Can't bring myself to say anything about You Know What, so I'll just say THANKYOU for confirming you'll keep up with your reactions. There's no reason to stop and so many reasons to carry on 🙂 I love love LOVE this song and will always wonder what could have been. PS - That t-shirt is amazing. I WANT.
Sad that Eurovision was cancelled, but I really hope that it somehow will take place later this year. Not just because of us the fans, but also the participants who all deserve to present their song on the big stage. I want to thank you for keeping the promise (reacting to the songs) and I really hope that you will like them :D
I was genuinely surprised when I first heard it. I did not expect such contemporary sound from Germany. My bad :) I immediately put it into the "that's definitely pure quality but obviously not for me" box. But since then I have caught myself many times getting really into it when it comes up on my Eurovision playlist. It really stands up from the bunch and gets me moving and grooving. PS: in regards to the news we've heard today. The contest may be canceled but we still can celebrate the countries and the artists and their music in this community and beyond. And we all know that this decision was not meant to hurt as quite the opposite. So let's all do our part to kick this nasty viruse's ass! And let's all gear up for ESC 2021 🖤
One of my favorites. After hearing all 41 songs, this is in my Top 5, and I'm not usually a big fan of songs like this. I love the beat, and how much energy there is all throughout this song. This could be on the radio in the United States...definitely played in clubs in the United States. Most people have compared him to Justin Timberlake, and a few to Justin Bieber, but i think your comparison to Daniel Bedingfield is so much more accurate.
Буде щось нове, головне аби усі були живі та здорові. Усім вам бажаю, лише здоров"я бо це головне. Пісні будуть завжди, і свято пісні у душі кожного може бути кожен день. Здоровья ще раз усім.
wait till u hear the rest , outstanding just about everything lease do these when you get round to it, also jesc is upon us and they are very very good!
Hey Jake, first of all : I love your T-shirt haha ! So in my opinion Germany had a good radio friendly song this year but I gotta be honest, his voice is not one of my favourites. Normally I don't like these type of voice especially when performing live. I'll give this a 6/10 :)
for me the best eurovision song ever is sister performed by sisters last year guys...amigos...my eurovision bro's...my friends, i must tell you something being dead honest, PLEASE dont think i am acting like a wise guy or something, PLEASE listen every song has its own story just like a movie, its not only how good artist can sing or how awesome music in that song is, the big part of every song is its story ! now tell me honestly how many of you know whats the story in the song sister ? huh ? i bet only very very few knows, and if you dont know the story behind that song, i am afraid you cant say do you like or not or rate the song, because you dont know what you rating its like being on a date with some beautiful blondie and when you come home your friends ask you, do you like that girl, and you say, yeah ! oh yeah ! and when they ask you to tell something about her, what she's like and so, you dont know anything about her beside that she is pretty and have pretty eyes so, how can you like someone or something you dont know so well ? and also how can you dislike something you dont know so well ? so, sisters are not so amazing vocals, but they were good enough music, staging and everything else wasnt so amazing but it was good enough BUT ! the most beautiful thing ever was the lyrics and the story behind their song ! it just brings me to the edge of tears every time i listen, who ever wrote that song, i really admire your heart its a HUGE masterpiece ! and thank you !
Germany should keep him, and this song (hopefully) Netherlands, Spain , Malta,Greece, Ukraine and Croatia (I guess) already announced that they will be sending the same artists, And yes, he was chosen internally,
I'm really sad we won't see a lot of these songs live on the big stage. I hope they let all these artists return to the 2021 contest but I'm not holding my breath.
I like Germany and I know it's most people's Big 5 favorite...not to me though because I only remember it when I hear it, I tend to forget its existence when it's not playing, when I see people talking about it, I tend to not remember what it sounds like...so I've reach the conclusion that it was generic and felt like any random mainstream songs. I'm a bit harsh, I know. I think it would have done well specifically because of the mainstream vibes. So I like it when I hear that's my conclusion. I think the humiliation of the zero point from the public made Germany do the change between this year and last year. It's a good move.
