MY OPINION
8/10. The northern section on this route (particularly between Stoke Campus and Begbrook) has amazing scenery, and the section on the M32 is very nice too!
NOTES
Albeit numbered as m1, this route was in reality the 3rd and the most recent to open of Bristol's metrobus routes (opened in January 2019). Bristol's first metrobus route to open was the m3 (City Centre - Emersons Green) back in June 2018, followed by the m2 (City Centre - Long Ashton Park & Ride) in September 2018.
This is Bristol Metrobus' only route not to be directly run by First West of England, instead being run under contract from Bristol Community Transport. However, announcements are the same as those found on First West of England.
This is the longest Metrobus route in Bristol, and also the only one to run cross-city! The m2 and the m3 start/terminate in the city centre.
Metrobus uses a buy before you board ticketing system, common in London and other European cities but non existent in the rest of the UK. Tickets must be purchased either from the iPoints available at every bus stop, from the driver on a non metrobus route (which is what I did on the day of the filming), or can be done using tap on tap off with contactless card payments. A great idea to speed up bus journeys on very busy city routes and make them work like a tram, but sadly the iPoints only accept card payments, which I do not agree as people who only have cash are forced to first board a non Metrobus route first, pay the driver for their day ticket, and then get Metrobus.
Metrobus, alongside Aquae X39 (Bristol - Bath), UniBus U1 (City Centre - Stoke Bishop) and the Park & Ride routes (both Brislington and Portway lines) use dual door buses (a standard feature on buses in London and Brighton), one of the very few bus routes in the UK to use such buses outside of the two aforementioned cities. Personally, dual door needs to be standardised on city routes - it speeds up journey times!
This route, alongside the m3, uses biogas buses, made by Scania (N280UD) with the bodies built by Alexander Dennis (Enviro400 City).
Thanks to ‪@danstransportvideos8281‬ for supplying me the welcome onboard announcement in the intro!

Edit to description: New m4 metrobus route. It heads from Bristol City Centre to Cribbs Causeway I think. It could terminate at Emersons Green but yeah. Another edit: m3x metrobus route (also new). Same as m3 except it skips the UWE Campus and heads straight to the island at Hambrook
