Gursky, the Florida man seen dangling for dear life said the pilot obviously forgot to attach his harness and after take off was immediately looking for a place to land them. When Gursky eventually let go in the open space, it was at 45 miles per hour after he finally lost his grip after dangling at 4,000 ft for some time during the glide. The only injury he sustained was a broken wrist which he had surgery to repair. This was his FIRST day of his vacation to Switzerland.

1:34 From my understanding, they were out camping/hunting and this bear kept getting way too close to their camp for safety. So they got on their snowmobiles to try chasing/scaring it off and that one guy just accidentally got a little too close then intended.

That was hang gliding not paragliding. Paragliding is that stuff you see on the beach people being pulled around by a boat and a tow rope suspended under a parachute. Hang gliders control where they fly and land. Either way you wouldn't want to fall out of either of them. Lol
@pitdoctor
@pitdoctor 2 года назад
Close, parasailing is being under a parachute towed behind a boat, paragliding is like hang gliding where you launch off of a hill and has just as much control as the hang glider, just without the wing structure.

It's amazing to see how many people will risk their lives (or actually die) chasing a few moments of a cheap thrill. Do people really find their lives so empty and unfulfilling that they have to resort to such measures? 11:11 I guess some people just can't understand the concept of the "domino effect" and its potential lethality in such an environment. This guy obviously wasn't the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree.

I cannot fathom why the hangglider pilot didn't land at the top of the mountain. I think the only reason the passenger WAS able to hang on THAT long was, he HAD to live so that he would have the chance to beat the $hit out of the pilot for NOT making sure the passenger's harness was connected to the glider AND for NOT landing at the TOP of the hill when the issue was communicated to him.
@tjk200081
@tjk200081 2 года назад
He couldn't land because he didn't have enough room to land. The speed he was going at, & the distance it would take to land safely would not have been enough.
@renaissanceman7145
@renaissanceman7145 2 года назад
@@tjk200081 horse shit! He knew the moment they left the ground his passenger wasn't strapped to the glider. He could have turned 180 degrees and landed where they started. It may not have been pretty but it would have been a lot less risky than what he did. If I were the guy dangling from a hang glider by my grip alone several hundred feet above the ground, I would prefer we crash into a tree seconds after launch. You honestly believe the pilot made the right decision to glide several minutes with a man's life depending on his grip strength and stamina alone, not knowing if he will be able to hang on through the fatigue and shear terror, knowing a fall from that height will be fatal rather than get on the ground immediately regardless the conditions? If so, I pity anyone who puts their life in your hands.
@Slayr.
@Slayr. Год назад
@@tjk200081 The pilot literally went down the mountain causing them to gain alititude and air speed. If I were him, I would've just let go as soon as I realized I wasn't being held onto by anything. Like, how does he get that far into the air without noticing any tension on his harness?

I don't think the one guy had much control. He needs to push and pull on the bar but the other guy holding onto it for dear life limiting his movements/control.
@Cramblit
@Cramblit 2 года назад
1) He had a guy hanging from the glider off center, and off balance, that's why the glider kept tilting left each time the guy slipped or moved. 2) The guy harnessed in correctly was leaning left to try to help the guy, again, causing the glider to turn left over the forested area. None of that was intentional. It was what needed to be done to try to get the guy as secure as can be, or at least holding onto something more securely. It wasn't until the situation was properly under control and the guy holding onto the leg, and bar that he was able to tilt right, and go for a proper landing.

A bear can literally knock your head off your shoulders with one swipe of its massive paw. That's how powerful they are. I agree with you regarding the snowmobiler. He was an absolute moron. And the hangglider was for me, also, the worst nightmare ever. I had a smaller version of that happen to me when I, too, was a young moron. My brother and I went to this fellow's house who had an 11' ladder on the edge of a 30' gulch that was full of bushes, felled trees, boulders, etc. The fellow was quite athletic and would climb very high into a tree on the other side. From that huge expanse, he would swing a very large marine-gauge rope with a loop at the bottom. The rope was actually too long, which made the experience even more terrifying. So, I'm standing on the ladder and reach out to catch the very heavy rope, stick my foot in the loop and basically jump off the ladder. There was about 10' of extra slack, so you have to free fall for a bit until the rope goes taut and there's an enormous jolt. I was about 17 at the time and was reed thin. My foot immediately slipped out of the loop as I swung across this huge cliff clinging to the rope with only my arms. If I had let go, I could easily fall to my death, or break a limb at the very least. So, I clung there with a kung fu grip. I missed my chance to jump back onto the cliff from where I jumped and realized the reason why the rope was about 10' too long. It was just the right length to jump back onto the cliff and you needed that extra height of the ladder to get enough swinging momentum. So, I had to use my body to create more momentum on the second pass. By then, I was able to get my foot back into the loop and on this second pass, which was much more enjoyable with my foot safely in that loop. Then, I easily jumped back onto the cliff. My brother and I both did this after church in our Sunday best. My older sister stood on the ladder for several minutes and climbed back down. She was the sensible one. Later in the car, my brother and I talked about the crazy thing we had both just done and decided we shouldn't have done it although it was so thrilling. A few weeks later, my older brother told me that the fellow's father made him remove the rope and ladder. Apparently, two people had fallen into the gulch. One person broke their wrist while the other broke their ankle. If you had seen what they fell on, how fast they were going, and the height of their fall, you'd realize they were actually lucky to be alive. That was one of several times I could have died pulling a stupid stunt.🤣

@cindymatthewsarrowdalearts6449 2 года назад
Actually, bears don't hibernate at all. They do have a long sleep, but it's a light sleep called a torpor. They can sleep long periods in this state - maybe even 100 days, but they can also wake up after a few days to feed or to urinate or defecate, or, for females, to give birth. Having said that, I agree, it seems an unlikely scenario.
