🇺🇸 Hi everyone! This is the FIRST of TWO videos from Hermosillo. This is a 30 MINUTE WALKAROUND in the downtown area ONLY. These videos are filmed in ONE CONTINUOUS SHOT WITHOUT EDITING, meaning I cannot climb a hill or walk to the other end of the city in this time. As you can see in the video, I purposely mentioned points of interest which appear in the MAIN TRAVEL VIDEO, such as Cerro de la Campana and the University (I also have DOGOS!). At the time of upload, the MAIN VIDEO FROM HERMOSILLO is waiting to be edited and is planned to be uploaded on WEDNESDAY JUNE 8TH. Please be patient and think before you comment. An area of the city you DIDN'T SEE in this video is MORE THAN LIKELY IN THE NEXT VIDEO. Please note that I was only in Hermosillo for ONE FULL DAY on MAY 28TH (both videos were filmed on the same day), due to a prior arranged appointment in Mexico City on June 1st. Spanish subtitles are available by selecting SETTINGS, THEN 'CC'. Additionally, as highlighted in the GUAYMAS video, I currently have a SEVERE PELVIS INJURY which is limiting my mobility in videos (I physically could not go to every place I wanted in the next video) 🇲🇽 ¡Hola a todos!
Saludos ....
HOLA, ESTAS CAMINANDO POR LA PARTE ANTIGUA DE LA CIUDAD, CLARO QUE NO ENCONTRARÁS CASAS ELEGANTES! EL CENTRO ES LO MAS FEO DE LA CIUDAD, HERMOSILLO ES UNA CIUDAD DE PRIMER NIVEL, MODERNA, HERMOSOS BOULEVARD, HERMOSAS COLONIAS, HOTELES DE 5 ESTRELLAS, ES UNA CIUDAD SEGURA, TRANQUILA, HAY INDUSTRIA, COMERCIO, GANADERIA, LA MEJOR CARNE DEL MUNDO Y UNA CIUDAD CON MUY BUENA CALIDAD DE VIDA!!! HAY DINERO PUES.
Houses look simple because you’re walking the oldest area of hermosillo. There’s plenty of other areas and colonias much newer and with lots of modern big expensive houses.
Hey, David! Native from Hermosillo, here! this is actually my neighbourhood :D I was very excited to see this on my recommended cause I never thought anyone would visit Centro of all places xd. I literally walk around all these places every day. I hope you're keeping yourself hydrated because it can be brutal in the summer, especially for people who aren't used to this heat. I did want to mention: I'm someone that tends to wear a lot of summer-y dresses and brightly colored tops! I've never heard that if you wear shorts or skirts that it means anything bad? However I WILL say it depends on what neighbourhood you go to. For example, Centro is not the best neughbourhood security-wise, and it's usually a place where people are on the go, doing their shopping. So you'll see a lot of people in t-shirt and jeans cause they're usually there to buy something specific and get out. Also, to avoid street harassment cause, as I said, not the best in terms of safety and you'll find all kinds of people there who unfortunately might take your summer dress as some sort of invitation to touch or say something inappropriate. However, if you go to other places that are more recreational in nature with a slower pace, you'll see a LOT of people wearing dresses, shorts, skirts, etc! You'll also probably find more diversity when it comes to the way people dress in the night-time, when people actually go out to have fun, especially college students :) Most people going out will meet their friends at 6pm, 7pm, 8pm because that's when the sun will not be incinerating you lmao So it's a very different, perhaps more youthful? scene, than what you find during the daytime. Anyway, just wanted to comment on something that I thought was interesting. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoyed your stay!
Great points! I definitely feel more 'youthful' individuals are being pioneers in Mexican fashion, absolutely. Re harassment, in Los Mochis I touched on the fact I obviously don't experience it (being a grumpy male with a face like a permanently angry cat lol), but I've seen how some men look at women. I guess it's a problem which will always be there and it enrages me. My regular style of video should be up on Wednesday, I haven't even started editing it yet! Thanks again for your awesome input!
I love how you know about the things that are local to the place, found your videos from the San Carlos video. Missing my hometown and you made me feel like I’m right there. If you need anything at all my family in Hermosillo would be more than glad to assist you
Gracias Jessica! Unfortunately I was only able to be there last weekend because I had to be in Mexico City this week to collect my passport at the embassy, so it was only a quick visit, but I really liked it! The passion for DOGOS is real!! I filmed the main video right after this one including the Cerro in 41c heat jaja. It should be up on Wednesday! Glad you liked this one!
Este Video me Súper Encanto ♥️Gracias ♥️ Soy De Hermosillo Sonora ♥️ Mi Ciudad del Sol 🌞♥️son las calles que Recorrí Ahora Vivo en California . Recordar es Volver a Vivir ♥️♥️ Muchas Gracias .. Por su Hermoso Video ♥️🙌♥️♥️♥️
Enjoyable video...The last time I visited Hermosillo, Feb. '99, well before face-masks, cell-phones, I could get around these streets...Glad you have the energy to walk around, film, and share the images with your audience. Much appreciated...
Awesome video, David! Fun fact: the old brick building you asked about (when you first mentioned the University) used to be the army barracks. In the late 1920s it was taken by rebellious forces and was bombed by Elias Calles. The place continued to be army barracks for long after that, my dad said there used to be soldiers standing guard at the doors in the 80s/90s. Today it is an office for a department of the Ministry of Education.
Thanks! This is why I like making these types of video, there are so many unique facts I learn and end up remembering but I can't remember what I had for breakfast LOL
Hey Mike! That's insane! I really don't how you cope! I think Wikipedia said the highest recorded in Hermosillo was 49.5C (Sorry I can never convert to F lol). It sounds like temperatures in Saudi Arabia or Kuwait. Global warming!
You're great at this kind of videos. Hermosillo looks nice and not as chaotic as other places. And with the heat you definitely deserve a lot of kudos for walking it and filming it!🙌🙌
Thanks man I love filming these ones, they're so much in that when filming them I have no idea what's going but when I watch the whole thing back I'm laughing at all the little moments I didn't see when filming like people waving and children falling over LOL
I love Hermosillo but I can find things that I love in every Mexican city/town, it's all just lovely and thanks to your videos we get to see so many of these places that are not often covered and the nuances of each one.
Every time I visit Hermosillo, I spend at least a week there. I like to stay in a place close to downtown and walk every street there in the mornings; I just love it. I can say that what I like the most is its people. I can talk to anyone anytime, anywhere and they make me feel welcome. This, I have experienced in other towns of Mexico but no other place like Hermosillo. I shop in some stores downtown and eat and some places there of my preference. From time to time I get into some neighborhoods like La Pitic to admire the mansions there. They are all different and beautiful. Thank you much, David, for all the effort you put into every one of your videos. I watch them as they come up!.
Thanks for clarifying Armando! I mean I use parasol too but only for like a beach umbrella, I guess it's the same in Español right? Literally for sun! It's the same in Polish!
Nice video, hermosillo is a beatiful city, good places to visit and the weather there in summer is hotter just like you said and feel, have a nice weekend david ☀️
When your morning starts off with Oaxacan coffee and a video from Tao of David, you know it's going to be good. And knowing your day will also include a visit to the Portland Art Museum to see the final weekend of the Frida Kahlo exibit..... well now you know you've had a kick ass day. Thanks David, keep being the excellent Gent you are!
I can’t believe how accurate 4K is. I’m from Hermosillo and live here, its such amazing to see these places on this video and I’ve got to say the video is a very close life experience of being there! I’m speechless
Umbrella is Parasol or Sombrilla to protect yourself from the Sun. Usually the dainty or frilly colorful type. Umbrella for rain is a Paragüas. Usually larger diameter and sturdier. But you will see people using the wrong ones for the wrong weather, sometimes. ☔️ ☂
So complicated! In English I guess it's just umbrella, but I'd say parasol for the beach, or just 'beach umbrella'. I guess sombrilla has the same root as Sombrero?
@@davidostrowski679 Yeah. The word for shade/shadow is “sombra”. So that’s exactly what the purpose for those items is. Also a sombrilla para sol. Which is what some people just go with, but the majority say sombrilla.
It has been awhile since I have been there. I remember really enjoyed the burritos there. Also I remember they had root beer which I thought was interesting because I thought it was only a USA thing.
Love your vídeos. There fine just as they are.Very nice. Not missing anthing.Your creative guy. I am mexican and have a diferent opinion. We are not all the same.
Absolutely Maria. It's very much the minority. Most people are brilliant and I love the in depth and intelligent conversations we have. I have really learnt a lot about so many things since first coming to Mexico!
Hey David you need to visit Obregón st where is the Plaza Hidalgo, and Parque madero, theres is In that area the contrast between the architecture of Spanish Andalusian origin and the modern american influence of the 80s in Hermosillo is more noticeable.
Hey I've tried trust me but they don't seem to make any difference. I regularly take breaks in the shade and drink constantly to the point I don't need to go to the bathroom because I sweat it all out instead!
Hi bro im glad u came here to my town is a beautiful town but unfortunately isn’t like it was back in the 80s, the city has a lot of problems to water to infrastructure and corruption problems. This city the last 13 years has going down in a lot if not all the ways. The cross with the frase “JUSTICIA ABC” was a tragic incident where 49 children die because a fire where the state government was burning some papers in storage next where the kids where staying. You can search for yourself of that incident is very very sad since that year of 2009 the city has going down to shit. I wouldn’t recommend to people come to the city is nasty and awful in so many waysit hurts so bad to actually say this. But definitely you should go to Guaymas Sonora or San Carlos it has beautiful landscapes and so much history. Or Alamos Sonora.
Thanks for the detail man, I've heard similar about Obregón (I was there recently). I feel bad describing my hometown in a similar way, but you're from there, so you have the right to critique. I loved San Carlos and Guaymas!! (They were the videos before this one). Absolutely amazing!
@@davidostrowski679 Thanks to you man, u spread the good things of this tows and i appreciate a lot, Sorry for the negativity but those are the facts. Your videos are amazing!!
I love my city 🔥🌵🐎 good video, we hope that you have a good visit ( cerro de la Campana, El parque la ruina, cerro del bachoco o de la cementera y Parque la Sauceda o la presa Abelardo L. Rodriguez) that's a beautiful places here😉👍 shadows
It was awesome Angel! I went up Campana later on the same day when filming the next one. So windy! I think I mentioned Ruina in this one. I had every intention of going on the Saturday night but as a result of my ongoing pelvis injury from Guaymas I just physically couldn't. A guy I know told me all about it though. It looks cool!
It's really great to see people from other countries enjoying Hermosillo, I live here and it's a very beautiful city, with lots of history, of course not as much as the rest of Mexico, yet is a very different city, with lots and lots of things to learn, if you come here again or if you are still her i'd love to give you a mini tour with little stories! I noticed you passed the monument de la guarderia abc, and you didn't say a word, it would be cool for you to learn about the meaning of those things cheers!!
Hey Silvana unfortunately I was only there for one day as I had an appointment in CDMX. Re learning about certain things, obviously I research a lot but sometimes (especially with the walkarounds), I purposely don't to show a genuine travel discovery experience (if you know what I mean). It might sound weird but I often prefer not to know lol. After 6 years of making videos and feeling like I have to know everything, it takes away the enjoyment! The main video should be up on Wednesday! I still had quite a severe pelvis injury at the time so my plan to go to La Ruina did not work out lol
That's what I read to! That was the second meaning I was alluding to. I highlight that in the next video when I go up there. Haven't had time to edit yet! Coming soon!
23:40 a well known place of prostitution. 27:00 You will be seeing a lot of abandoned places on the downtown of Hermosillo. Some of the buildings there are being labeled as historic-valuable buildings, and you are forbid to remodel them with newer standards. They're supposed only to be restored using similar techniques, materials and even electrical systems have to adhere to historic standards. This is costy, so most of the owners trying to make a quick buck by selling the terrain for it's economic value just stop maintaing the building until it crumbles. Aafter that they're not a protected place and they can just clean the lot and sell the land itself.
Si amigo! I remembered about 3 hours later as always lol. In an upcoming San Luis video I make a sombrilla joke. Only hard-core people will get the Hermosillo reference lol
Welcome to Hermosillo, place of the best hotdogs, with 30 ingredients, and not just ketchup, mustard and Mayo. Just start the hot season, from June to Augost. We almost get 50°C in a really hot day. The people talk laud, direct and honestly, and sometimes with a %#&$word hahaha... They use it like "Do or Does" in a sentence hahaha... Sonora People are the cawboys of México. If you are introduce with a Sonora people, you are part of the family from that instant. Thanks for sheer your videos. Xoxo from the warmest city and People.
Gracias Magdalena! I filmed one my regular videos after this one (not edited yet). There are dogos featured! Your description of people in Hermosillo I why I like Northern Mexico. I am very honest and direct so I appreciate the same approach!
I enjoyed this last night. It's funny that you commented about people rarely wearing shorts in Mexico (which is something I had heard was the case), because earlier in the video at 16:43, right after you showed that statue of the family, I happened to notice a (real) family with what appeared to be a Mexican guy on the street wearing shorts and I thought "Isn't that odd for Mexico?" (I hope your hip is getting better.)
Hello David, is the heat really that unbearable? As in, you hop in the shower and you immediately start sweating? My boyfriend is from Hermosillo and we live in the USA now but thinking about moving there. He is telling me I will not stand the heat. What do you think? Did you get tired quickly in this heat? Is there wind, air or is it just heavy heat? Thank you!
Yesterday, June 12, 2024, in Hermosillo, the record for the hottest temperature for that date of 49.5 degrees Celsius was surpassed, the good thing was that it was humid, because the thermal sensation would have been more than 55 degrees Celsius in the shade
Greetings from Sonora hope you enjoy the food at night and may the heat be with you.
Hey David! Please let me know when you're comming back! I'd love to drive you around and viait some good places to eat. Today (i JUST saw this video popping in my feed) i have a LOT of work. But we can have a stroll in MORE places the city have to offer. BYW, Umbrella its Sombrilla or Paraguas (funny enough there´s not too much water to protect from)
@@davidostrowski679 sorry to read this as you were walking in one of the top 3, top 5 places to delight mexican cousine! hope you had the opportunity to go to cerro de la campana to clash the rocks and get the famous sound :)
I would have loved helping you get around, you got a little lost but I hope you were able to have fun and explore the city (not the best areas though) but it’s part of the experience.
In 2009 there was a huge fire in Hermosillo Sonora that unfortunately killed 49 children, those crosses are in memory of those children. 22 people went to jail after that.
This video is so misleading. Hermosillo is not the hottest city in Mexico. That would be Mexicali. Also, Mérida and Campeche are routinely hotter than Hermosillo.
Can you not see the question mark after the word 'Mexico'? A question mark indicates a question my friend, it's not a statement of fact. The description also states 'one of the hottest'. Learn to read you twat x This isn't Twitter, it's RU-vid...
I thinks the jeans culture in Mexico is changing a bit specially in bigger cities, still more than 80% of the people still wears jeans when is really hot but at least is not seen as bad as years ago and more people are starting to wear more shorts.
Ahh bless you decided to get out of bed and try to insult a stranger on the internet with a lame comment. Bit sad isn't it, let's be honest. Hope your week improves babes xx
