In Episode 2, we really start to begin our adventure and explore the Malaysian capital City, Kuala Lumpur.
We give our first impressions of the city by showing you our apartment at the Ceylonz Starlight Suites in Bukit Bintang and the stunning views from the pool.
We take to Kuala Lumpur by night by visiting the nearby Petaling Street, Chinatown, and try some food at one of the many restaurants.
The next morning we explore the city of Kuala Lumpur, taking in the street murals just behind Jalon Alor. This was an initiative to make a rundown part of the city more attactive to tourists.
We then take in some breakfast on Jalon Alor before heading around Bukit Bintang's shopping district, and paying a visit to the indoor Theme Park at Berjaya Times Square.
We then head over to the Petronas Towers and view them twin towers via the KLCC park
To finish off our first full day in Kuala Lumpur, we again head to Jalon Alor and try some food, as well as some street food.

to be honest, for me petaling street or jalan alur is not the best place to review malaysian food. and as a tourist attraction, it is also a bit expensive. you can try nasi lemak at Nasi Lemak Wanjo kampung baru KL, roti canai and teh tarik at any mamak restaurant, ramli burger (street food), nasi kerabu, char koay teow, laksa, nasi kandar etc.
@continentalcoxons
@continentalcoxons Год назад
You are most likely correct Lanz as we didn't find the food to be the best, but for our short and limited time there it was quick and easy really. I think we even mentioned it was more catered for tourists and you can tell. When we get back to Malaysia we will definitely be trying more of the Malaysian dishes and exploring more as we'd both love to see more of the country other than just KL.

The breakfast chicken rice you guys had at Jalan Alor, the soup is not for dipping your chicken instead for drinking. Dipping your chicken in diluted its flavors, best way is to have the chicken meat with its soya sauce with rice together and eating chicken meat with its sauce only will be more salty by itself. As for drinks, always mix them up before drinking as the sugar layer is always at the bottom in majority of Malaysian drinks.
@continentalcoxons
@continentalcoxons Год назад

Usually, if you’re given rice on a plate, it’s easier to eat with fork & spoon (don’t be shy to ask for cutleries if they are not available on the table). You use chopsticks if you are given a bowl of rice. The fried dough, yes, goes nice with coffee & coconut jam called kaya (try it). My late father-in-law (a Canadian) liked it a lot.

Hiya.. guys welcome to Malaysia 🇲🇾 (Your video is nice but a little distracted by the background noises..) Btw, before you eat Malaysian foods or drinks please ask the sellers how to consume it otherwise you'll get it wrong way.. Please visit the authentic Malaysian cuisines (Malay, Chinese, Indian) in Kampung Baru, Chow Kit Road Jalan TAR-Masjid India, Brickfields etc.. Try famous Nasi Lemak, roti canai, murtabak, authentic Malay satay, laksa, fried kwayteow, teh tarik, chendol etc.. Jalan Alor foods are mostly from outside like Thais and Chinese.. and not really cheap either.. Alcohol is cheap in tax free zone in Langkawi and the Forest City, Johor, .. @Continental Coxon's some of your research on buildings and food is not accurate. Example, jalan alor is not only thai food, they served all types including western and seafood, malaysian lesser extend, korean, vietnamese.. Try asking people and not Google. But the street art is true, it is to rejuvenate an old neighbourhood and is found in most towns and cities in Malaysia.
@continentalcoxons
@continentalcoxons Год назад
@keangwooichoo6138 I think we said it was mainly Thai that we could see when we'd walked up the street. We did not google this one, it was just an observation from walking about there earlier that day. We also said near the start we would make mistake as we knew not everything we do is going to be right, but it is a learning process.

It is but that meal seemed to be way too oily. We love Asian food but that seemed to be too much for the Thai dish. Thai food is our favourite and never had anything as oily when eating Thai.
@keangwooichoo6138
@keangwooichoo6138 Год назад
@Continental Coxon's I am not sure what you ordered, but satay almost always has peanut sauce. Satay is indonesian / malaysian food. Not sure if thailand has satay. The oil is from peanut (naturally).
@continentalcoxons
@continentalcoxons Год назад
It was a Thai yellow curry that I ordered. Usually made from a paste and coconut milk.
@keangwooichoo6138
@keangwooichoo6138 Год назад
@Continental Coxon's not sure about that. Although there are thai communities in Malaysia, I can say Chinese and indians here do not often consume it. Malays usually like tomyam. That is about it. Perhaps the occasional coconut glutinous rice with mango. This is because the green chilli is spicy and plus sour, stomach cannot handle it too much.
