THAT is an interesting style! Certainly NOT from the era of the "Dour Dutch" of the Reformation! Definitely a "must-see" if I ever am able to make one more journey to The Netherlands! Hope that this "Creative" Station wins some architecture awards ... for uniqueness, if nothing else!

Zaandam Station, my home station. I can't say i like it a lot, it's a bit kitch to say the least, but i'd MUCH rather have something silly, perhaps a tiny bit dumb - over yet another extremely bland rectangle building with a glass facade.

You're right, it looks kitschy, but that's what I like about it. The bright colors give the station a lot of character and make it stand out from the - as you said - bland stations. Luckily there aren't too many of them, as Dutch architects are very good at mixing function and style.

I think that is the first time there was at least occasionally some sunshine since you started using HDR. The cloud cover just makes it sort of sub-Standard Dynamic Range.

I have always thought that Zaandam Station has the appearance of a village in its own right. I believe that one of your earlier cab-rides was from the cab of that Sprintger to Hoorn which passed by shortly after Sloterdijk.

Zaandam vind ik ook mooi, maar mijn favoriete treinstation is Amsterdam Sloterdijk. Mooi, die 2 stations op elkaar.

Is die TSB bij utg nou een permanente verlaging geworden? Jemig.. Wel bijzonder dat er zowel een laag als een hoog snelheidsbord 90 is. Zal zeker te maken hebben met doorwisselende treinen die eerder snelheid kunnen verhogen.

Iets minder op tijd inderdaad haha. Mooi stukje, nooit geweest. Het station heeft een hoog Almere gehalte Ik moet altijd wel gniffelen om HC's die triomfantelijk omroepen dat de trein op tijd is vertrokken.

Het traject is in mij ogen niks veranderd, alleen in Zaandam zijn alleen maar boven het spoor en naast het spoor en busstation gebouwd. Vraagje: bij een knippert cijfer bij het sein, mag je dan met een bv 10/15 % remmen? Weet dat bij een gewoon brandende cijfer normaal afremmen moet naar die snelheid, klopt dat? Blijf het bijzonder sein bordje bij Castricum en Heiloo een soort padenstoel bordje voor de overgangen, zie het niet veel op andere trajecten. Heb vandaag tijdens mij trein rit tussen Geldermalsen en Dordrecht (R-Net traject) met video camera kunnen opladen en een laatste stukje in de sprinter van Breda naar "'s-Hertogenbosch (Flirt stel), ook heel soms doe ik ook bij mij telefoon (Nokia 1101) die als ik vol wilt laden 2 uurtje nodig voor heb, vind wel vervelend dat er in de VIRM/DDZ/ICM geen oplaat punten zijn in de 2e klasse en bij de ICM/ICR bij de 1e klasse vind wel dat de stopcontacten erg hoog zetten en ook erg moeilijk is in te stoppen. Weet dat je er niks aan kan doen. Heb zelf ook een tablet die heel erg soms mee neem kan die dan alleen met de USB opladen in de SNG/Flirt (volgens mij nu ook in de Floo VIRM). Ook in sommige bussen kan het ook. Heb vaak wel Wifi nodig, weet dat bij de DDZ dat niet kan, volgens ook niet in de SLT, en bij de ICR ook niet, bij de ICM wel. Bij de regionale vervoerders hebben ze het standaard wel. Trouwens een mooie rit, heb bekeken met een online 80 station op een andere tablad.

Bij zowel een vast brandend als een knipperend getal in combinatie met een geel sein moet je remmen wanneer je het met een hogere snelheid passeert. Het verschil is dat je bij een vast brandend getal de aangegeven snelheid bij het eerstvolgende bereikt moet hebben. In de praktijk wordt een vast brandend getal meestal gebruikt wanneer je een wissel in afbuigende stand gaat berijden. Een knipperend getal wordt gebruikt wanneer het tweede volgende sein rood is en het eerstvolgende, gele sein niet op remwegafstand staat van dat rode sein.
