Haiho All, Introduce myself, Wilco, and because I always mention which side I'm gonna open the doors to avoid mistakes, Mentors gave me the "Callsign" ( yept I love Top Gun )Willy Left Willy Right. I got here, to NS, because these clips of Cabview..... I enjoyed them a lot, so I put a message on the you tube site of Cabview, that I liked what I saw and wanted to become a Traindriver but I'm over 50. Vincent answered with, that he had a student in his class which was 52 years of age, so what's holding me back..... This was somewhere January 2022. In May I tried for the first time to apply for the job, Crashed and Burned ( yep, there is Top Gun Again ). In June my girl send me a message, NS will go through Holland with a SimulaTour in Utrecht, and will hit Rotterdam in July together with the new ICNG. I didn't want to wait that long, so next day first class of to Utrecht..... Talked to different people including recruitment, because this was a something new the media was there also, and they kept sending them to me, saying his a potential canditate..... Well, that was Third of June 2022, October 10th 2022 I started my study, and last Tuesday April 23rd 2024 I passed my last Exam..... I'm Where I Belong ( yep, there is Top Gun Again )..... If it wasn't for the clips of Vincent, I would still be an Allround Carpenter in the Constructionsite..... If you have a Dream, Try to make it real..... It's easier to learn something you like..... Still it was a long road, getting from there to here, but I Did It, cost a lot of Energy and time, also from my girl, wasn't always easy..... Vincent, Thnx for the Link to my Clip..... It's a short clip that shows you my journey, where I was, and where I'm going to..... The music is from Star Trek Enterprise, yept, Star Trek fan, and the Lyrics expresses my feelings and thoughts..... Thank you for watching it..... Greetings from Rotterdam, Wilco.....

Dat mag zeker, zolang je de medische- en psychologische keuringen maar haalt. Zelfs een jongere van 16,5 mag onder begeleiding rijden, zolang hij of zij de (partiële) keuringen maar gehad heeft via/in overeenstemming met school.

Very happy for Wilco. As a kid, I wanted to be a train driver, this was in the last days of steam. I did apply many years later but I have very slight red/green colour blindness (technically) so got thrown out of the application process. In reality, I'm not colour blind, never been an ussue but the Ishihara dots, no, can't do them.

@@GJFWBNL Haiho, is ook maar een clippie van 1.27, het geeft weer waar ik vandaan kom ( All Round Timmerman in de Bouw), hoe ik hier kom ( via de SimulaTour van NS en eerste Cabview Holland)..... Haiho, it's just a clip of 1.27, it shows you where I come from ( All round Carpenter in the Construction), and how I got here ( via SimulaTour from NS and firstly Cabview Holland).....

High temp today will be 28°C. Probably with same sky cover as in this video. Two club bands play this evening... one (Blues) starts at 8:30. Other at 10:30 is old Rock and Roll. Both are near El Rob Palacio (apartment house). I hope to see some of you guys there. RT sends/mande, Colonia Centro Histórico, Puebla, México. Thanks for the nice video, Senior Cabview.. Good way to start the day.

Greeting! I work at a company that develops trains simulators, and your channel is the most useful tool we could have found. Thank you so much, your series of explaining signaling was a lifesaver! There is just one we cannot find at all anywhere online, a telephon-indicating sign with a T. Does anyone perhaps know where in the videos I could find it?

Thanks! The T-sign is not functional anymore, as we have mobile phones and GSM-R now. You can still find some that were not removed at so.e stations. Do you want me to look out for one?

wat leuk om te zien dat Wilco lekker doet wat ie leuk vindt! ik zit er ook heel erg aan te denken om de overstap te maken naar machinist als ik klaar ben met de huidige studie (niks mis met de studie, ik merk nu alleen dat ik veel interesse heb in treinen :^) en het kost zoveel om opeens te stoppen met een hbo haha). ik zal je ook zeker benoemen als motivatie als ik besluit om voor machinist te solliciteren! voor nu nog even treinspotten! (daar kan ik alleen een bonus aanbieden in de vorm van koekjes...)

Maak inderdaad eerst je studie af, en als je dan nog steeds het gevoel hebt, ik wil machinist worden, zou ik zeggen ga ervoor. Was voor mij best pittig, al jaren niet geleerd, 52/53/54 maar heb het gehaald. Was waarschijnlijk ook een iets vanuit mijn jeugd, wat al die tijd heeft liggen sluimeren. Blij dat ik deze clips tegen kwam en aanmoediging van Vincent, anders nog steeds rond gehobbeld in de bouw..... Zet hem op.....

Door uw filmpjes wil ik ook heel graag op de trein werken als conducteur. maar de hele tijd zijn er geen vacatures dichtbij genoeg. ik hoop binnen een jaar uw collega te zijn.

Ik vermoed dat de reden dat u even voor Utrecht moest wachten, dat het vanaf die locatie iets makkelijker is de trein te ontruimen in geval van nood dan wanneer je midden tussen de andere sporen staat.

Mooie rit weer! Ik was benieuwd welke trein je het leukst vindt om mee te rijden en welk exterieur je het meest aanspreekt. Zelf vind ik de virm er mooi uitzien, jammer dat ze weinig in m'n regio te zien zijn😢

1:25 It's really VERY unusual that the SNG Sprinter has to serve as an intercity. Was there a vehicle shortage right now?

It's more common then you think.... Found one instantly on treinposities when clicking on a SNG close to Arnhem lol Edit found an other one going in the other direction too

This run left me with a few questions in mind, as you were driving a Sprinter variant but did not stop at many of the stations I thought a Sprinter would stop at. Was there a shortage of VIRMs and NIDs stabled at Rotterdam? or are they being phased out? Are the Dutch public turning against the use of doubledeck rolling stock? Previously many of the limited stop runs you have done have been in these higher capacity units, especially on such a lengthy overal route length (Rotterdam ~ Arnhem.) I'm aware that ICNG is taking longer to bring into service, but it has been suggested that they would replace Koplopers along with Traxx locos and carriage consists on fast services.

It happens sometimes that Sprinter trains are scheduled on Intercity services. Often it is because they are a late replacement, but it can also happen for logistical reasons. The Dutch aren’t turning against double-deckers. In fact, NS has ordered new double-decker rolling stock from CAF. ICNG will replace the ICMs (Koplopers), and the new double-decker rolling stock, code-named DDNG, will replace the DDZ.

Appreciate your videos of far-away Netherlands (I'm in Pennsylvania). Question: What is the meaning at many of the stations of the white blinking light with a small sign beneath with a "V". See them often but don't know what they are. Thanks!

That light is meant for the conductor and indicates that the signal shows ‘safe’ and is used where the conductors has no direct view to that signal.

Wel jammer dat u niks zij over de nieuwe trein halte die komt bij de van nelle fabriek het enigste station waar je mag roken omdat van nelle daar onder andere shag maakte 😊

Ik benoem alleen de huidige stations, en de opgeheven stations zolang daar nog iets van zichtbaar is.
