6 years old video i have the small metal bandsaw from HF i have a small tabletop bandsaw and just purchased a grinder type chop saw dang i should check thi s video first its amazing how it cuts i worked in machine shop from 75-1998 we used alternating saw that I beam could take 3-5 min at least.. thank you much for this viddeo

I JUST GOT THIS SAW. MY FIRST CUT WAS ANGLE IRON. I WAS BLOWN AWAY CUT IT LIKE BUTTER. THEN I TRIED 3 PIECES OF ANGLE IRON. SAME THING ALMOST COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT I WAS SEEING.

i have the orange one for more than 10 years now, and the only thing is missing is a progressive start and a GOOD guider 45° and others. For 90° cuts, the most I do, is always 90° and easy :) Be sure to have a well sharpened blade too ;)

Wow it cuts through like butter, if anyone has cut through metal with an abrasive chop saw you will know how great this saw is and save time!! And time is money saved. The blade is great I rather have metal shavings than sparks flying around.

Hey man, they recommend with angle and square to cut it at a 45, either using the jig for the square or just laying the angle point up! That way the blade never has to cut the flat section!

Ok. All good until you need to cut 45 degrees. Which is most of my box section cuts

@@bjpayne1615 ahaha well in that instance it won't work! 😂 Has the machine been holding up pretty well? Im going to be buying either the evolution or the fein slugger in a fortnight and I think I'll be getting a diablo cutting disc as I'll be doing a lot of high carbon and alloy steels!

Only 1300rpm. No you can't use these in an abrasive saw, the disc will burn out in seconds.

Anyone knows if it can cut faster, without damaging the circular blade, some tool steel like 1.2379 (max 230HB), I only work with tool steel and right now I'm looking for a replacement of my bandsaw, it doesn't have automatic feed and last week I lost 38 minutes to cut a steel part, quite small. On the other hand with the same bandsaw I was able to cut another larger steel part (140mm long by 15mm thick) much quicker, less than 10 minutes , but because was a different steel ally, it was 1.1730 which si around 190HB SO .. can this saw cut tool steel 1.2379 / 230HB ?

The steel beam was really not bad , but can you cut maassive roundstock for the lathe like 3 inch diameter Steel, Aluminium and bearing bronze can you show or test the maximum hardness of materials it can cut - like can you cut a hardenend block of steel Also can you cut a piece of full size railroad track - not mining cart railroad bu the real stuff - with the 2.5 inch wide rail head?

abrasive vs carbide : abrasive is cheap , less dangerous carbide plated is fast , cold , so precise its almost impossible to cut near end of a metal with abrasive .the blade will deflect easily and will ruin your part . another problems with abrasive is you nearly cant cut aluminum , wood , plastic , and other non ferrous materials ... while you are cutting with abrasive disk it will slowly get converted in to dust and pollutes your workshop ! i also think making abrasive disk is not environment friendly and its not recycle able !!! abrasive disk spins almost twice speed of carbide disk .. its also possible to use wood cutting carbide disk for cutting metals . but wears faster

It would spin at way too high rpm to operate safely. The cold cut blades should spin roughly about 3 times slower

This blade wants a 1300 rpm saw. You can buy them separate. Also, NEVER cut angle iron like that with this blade. This blade desires the least amount of contact possible. Use that little accessory the OP said was for pipe and put square tubing on edge, and remove the tool and place the angle iron with the outside of the 90 angle pointing up. Also, I recommend welding pliers or long nose vice grips when cutting less than 2" off the end of a piece. The blade can grab as the cutoff falls. You'll hear a clang and the cutoff will go flying, and your blade will have lost a couple teeth.

Scott Hynes you're 100% right. Angle iron up, and be very careful cutting small pieces. I have this same saw and it is absolutely wonderful. It says in the instructions not to cut pieces off smaller than 5/8" I believe. I've done it and the cut off got sucked into the guard and broke off part of the casting. That was on me. The switch in my handle went bad. Evo sent out a whole new assembly. I had it within a week. They were great to deal with. I'll never got back to abrasives.

Gooey Tarballs around 1500 rpm, whereas abrasive chop saws spin at a much faster 3500-4000 rpm

Thanks for the Review Im going to buy a Metal cutting saw , I like this saw better than the Dewalt saw , How much does it cost and how much are the blade replacements , and is it 120 volts, just a little safety tip with your saw the #1 reason you will have a blade break and can shatter and you can be seriously hurt IS when your cutting the end off a piece of steel and your not over your blade chip slot especially for someone who never used that type saw IS that that little End cut gets wedged IN BETWEEN the Blade the the chip slot and will bend the blade and it will break ive had hundreds of hours on this type saw ,so just keep that in mind when your cuttting end cuts and squaring a piece of steel ,im just starting to record videos soon on RU-vid please subscribe if you like like...Thanks
