What an awesome Christmas display that will look great even when the holidays are over . I love the blend of creativity and knowledge you bring to your channel.
30 years or so ago, I had a job packing bulbs for a major importer, Van Bloems & fell in love with these beauties. I sent them to my mom & sisters. My daughter is grown now but still calls them "Grandma-ryllis" 😃 I was late putting mine into dark this year so I didn't get them blooming for Christmas but will enjoy them around Valentine's day. I put mine outside during the summer & actually let one go to seed last year. I've got tiny, one leaf sprouts in one pot. It will be interesting to see how many years it will take for them to grow to flowering size! I often buy new ones for cheap that are past bloom & didn't sell. Big, good quality bulbs are definitely better performers but I don't mind growing them along, they're SO easy & always welcome their flowers when I'm waiting for summer. Your arrangement is beautiful, I might try something similar this year.
@@greatgardensforall there are NO worthless jobs IMHO. Yes, it was like factory work but I still learned a lot. Our team packed more amaryllis grow kit boxes than had ever been done before, I was younger & stronger back then 😃
What a lovely arrangement Yulia, I have never seen them combined with ferns and wire vines before and I love the contrast in textures. Hahaha when you are planting bulbs there is always a risk of a stowaway although this red one was pretty, even if it didn't combine well with the others there is always somewhere to put a red bloom at Christmas. Do please let us know if the smaller bulbs rooted in the end or not. Happy Holidays!
I'm surprised the sub-par bulbs grew as well as they did. I wouldn't have bought them personally as I would have worried about rot! Arrangement looks good though 🙂
Loved this. I bought a couple amaryllis’ this year for the first time really enjoying them. I like the different heights shows them off more. Merry Christmas to you and your family Yulia
That happens to me all the time. Purchase an amaryllis that is labeled something and when it blooms is totally different, seems to be more common when you buy from big box stores.
Yuliya, I love the arrangement. I'm fortunate to live in south Texas. I plant them in the ground after blooming and they take off. I started off with one years ago and now I have hundreds that bloom so nice in spring. I recently started collecting other colors and put them in groups some I mix the colors. Thanks for a great video.
@arthur i live in Texas also. Mine always seem to die before they bloom. I wonder if its the high humidity or the hot summers. They grow but never flower. How do u treat for pests? Thank you .. Your neighbor from Texaa
@@aaronmartinez9431 I don't treat for pest, the leaves will turn yellow at times just take those off. Try spreading some bone meal around them and water it in. They like moist soil and not dry. In this drought we have in San Antonio I water lightly every other day just to keep things moist. Good luck.
I’ve only seen them alone or in a group of themselves. I love the ferns with them. It’s gorgeous! And I haven’t grown that color before. It’s so delicate and beautiful. I just love what you did, and yes. I learned something. I always learn from you. Tfs. Merry Christmas to you and your family. God bless. 👏🏻🎄👏🏻
I bought my first apple blossom this year. I absolutely love it! It literally looks like it has glitter on it (when the grow light is on). What is the best aftercare so they will eventually bloom again? I keep them growing through summer outside, then put them in the basement to die back, but have yet to have one bloom again. I get lots of leaves, no flowers.
This is BEAUTIFUL!! Where do you get your bulbs? I've only bought the growing kits from Lowe's, Target and Walmart around Thanksgiving and give them as gifts. Also from Holland Bulbs through Amazon this year for gifts. So I can't really examine the bulb to see its size or health and just hope for the best lol. I just looked at the Colorblends website, which sells wholesale...looks like you have to shop early!
So beautiful... love this idea of growing them individually and then combining into an arrangement... definitely doing this next year... thanks for sharing, so helpful and inspirational!!
That turned out beautiful. I find it very frustrating when bulbs are mislabelled. I really like how you’ve used the other plants around the base of the amaryllis.
Beautiful arrangement!!! I have had my bulbs for 10 years. I just got another one this year. I like your idea of the arrangements. Thanks for sharing!🌸🌺🌟
Thank you for the video. I purchased several bulbs of three varieties this year. Two varieties did great and the 3rd never rooted but a few of that variety are finally putting up bloom stalks. The potted arrangement is beautiful!
This is so beautiful. I am now starting Amaryllis by seed,it's a long process but very interesting. I have several different colours. They are floating in water.Hzve you ever grown them from seed? Thank you I've been watching all your videos, really enjoyable, this is my first year winter sowing, I 'm in zone 6a,Ohio,thank you for sharing ~Abby in Ohio🌷🌷🌷
I've got 12 amaryllis going for the season. Every year I get new ones and get rid of ones that didn't bulk up enough with fertilizer to even bother with and wouldn't you know it every year I get atleast one that turns out to be mislabeled 😆
I have a very expensive Amaryllis that has never re-bloomed. It grows leaves, and that’s it. I have tried putting it away, and then re-planting it when it gets cold. Still nothing. What should I do?
Beautiful arrangement! It never occurred to me to create an arrangement after the amaryllis blooms. My “fail” this year is timing - white amaryllis bloomed and have faded, red and pink are yet to bloom! Still fun.
I also have a bulb that is blooming just incredibly beautiful flowers, but I noticed it does not have a single root. I am hoping it will do so by the end of the blooms. I would hate to lose the bulb, since the flowers are just amazing.
You give amazing ideas! I'm a fan and follower :-) I wonder if you have a video where you teach how to force spring bulbs? My favourite are narcissus. I know I can look it up but you teach best :)
@@greatgardensforall It was beautiful! Thanks, I watched it. I don't have the right conditions in my home (warm and not enough light). But I will remember for a future opportunity :)
Beautiful arrangement, I have an apple blossom amaryllis that I’m hoping will bloom again this winter. No bloom stalk yet but last year it bloomed in February and I was thrilled.
Beautiful arrangement. Bought mine a white and red in wax bulb. White one came out beautiful Red one is struggling and not blossoming both in same spot and same store
I bought 2 Amaryllis bulbs (pink) from Walmart this year. This is a first for me. I figured I could spare $5 each to give it a try. So all of this info is much appreciated by me! I know nothing, LOL! But you all know how it is with a garden/plant addiction - always looking for something new to try. Merry Christmas/Hanukah/Holidays to everybody. Thanks for the video, Yulia!🧡 Tell your hubby we all said "hello"! 🙂
Spent the money for 3 really nice amaryllis this year. What a show so far. Except of course.1 is way ahead of the other 2 . Oh well. Love the covered legs
What a lovely display ! I hadn’t thought of growing the amaryllis in individual pots and repotting them once they’re flowering into a larger display. I definitely be using this idea in the future. Thanks.
Ohh Yulia! What a stunning, beautiful arrangement. You have such imaginative ideas. I never would have thought to combine the ferns with the amaryllis. I have only ever grown them by themselves. The ferns compliment the gorgeous flowers, without stealing their glory. Thank you for sharing your wonderful gardening ideas with us.
