I sometimes increase my seam allowance on my linings to adjust the bulk of the outer fabric. I just increase by an 1/8th inch on my side seams, and sometimes the bottom, depending on how thick the outer pieces are.😊

Good morning . . . Here's a suggestion for you to get a 'crisp' corner when using foam. ** before you sew on the decorative strip (optional step), but after sewing the 1st side seam - top stitch at all 4 corners, a straight line from the top edge (@ 90deg) to the inside corner of each corner cut-out. This places a permanent fold line where you want it. 😊get

I was just making a basket for my mom. I’m going to use your method so I can use a directional fabric. Observations from an engineer: 1) On the smaller basket, I would’ve cut an inch off the top and adjust the corner cut to 2.5 if needed. It would make it proportional. That’s me-an engineer and not an artist. 2) You mark down 2” and connect the dots. Can’t you use the 2” mark on n the length of the ruler and save a step? Not picking, I’m seriously asking. Another great video. I love The Engineer’s comments and the support he gives you.

I love your fabric baskets I made them for my fat quarters as well but when I sewed the strip on I used a decorative stitch on my sewing machine. But They are filled some more so than others, I guess I need to make a couple more!

On the basket, you can actually put the strip right on the line you drew so if it ever found its way into the freezer and popped up, it would be covered by the color strip. Thanks for watching.

After you folded the top the inside no longer fit correctly, is there a change to the inside measurement so it comes out right?

I didn’t experience that, I’m sorry. I didn’t make a change to the pattern. I guess I would add or delete the fold with the amount you folded over. Than MLS for letting me know👍🏼😊❤️🐥

Thank you for such an instructive video! I’ve been making these with the double sided fusible Bosal foam and it makes it even easier, since you don’t have to make the lining separately. Your tips for ironing the seams are definitely going to up my game!❤

How did you construct the strip with the fabric center?

The center strip is a strip of the lining fabric. I sewed two black strips on both sides, folded and pressed the black raw edges under like it was a ribbon. Then I topstitched it with black thread to the flat outside of the box. Thanks for asking and watching 😊♥️🤣
