Here is an edited repost of a video from the original channel (originally published in early July 2022). In this video, I talk about whether there are differences in strains/varieties/cultigens of mushrooms, whether it be in terms of growth or experience. Hope you enjoy!

Some would even say the mood or intentions of the procedure also play a part such as with ayahuascaros traditions.

I think strain is actually more accurate than cultigen when specifically referring to OG, wild harvested lines particularly when you analyze the definitions: Strain - A group of organisms that belong to the same species but share certain genetic characteristics not found in other members of the species. Cultigen - a cultivated or domestic organism which has diverged enough while in domestication or cultivation from its ancestors or closest wild relatives to be classified as a species, subspecies, or major variety. I went back to using strain after Allan Rockerfeller gave his input on the correct terminology. I was calling them cultivars for a while but learned that applies specifically to plants.
@MycoSage
@MycoSage Год назад
Yes, I remember that from Alan! But I flip-flopped a bit on what exactly to use. I have currently gone back to variety as a middle ground, but I do agree with Alan that strain is the best term. Not to mention, cultigen refers only to plants. Thanks for another excellent comment 👍
@MycoSage
@MycoSage Год назад
Hey man, do you happen to have the source of Alan saying that strains are the correct terminology? I know he said it but I can’t remember where, and I can’t find it online. Maybe it was a video?

When growing Panaeolus cyans the bigger ones like in the thumbnail below this video! Big white ones! I colonize the cake first then add a casing layer? Or add a casing layer at the same time I make the tub?

I don’t agree with people saying there is no difference in effects because I took b+ 5 times and the trip was basically the same every time then I tried blue meanie cubensis and the visuals were way different and more intense I’m positive each strain has a different effect.

I’ll have to try Cambodia I’ve only had 4 kinds so far apes, pans, purple mystic and golden teachers! Haven’t had a big dose of pans yet but I’m growing them so here soon I’ll get the chance! Lol when will the tidal wave be shipped?

They’re all Different you’re right, they grow at different speeds, different heights, different colors. They’re different and they have different alkaloids and affects for sure! oh yeah and this is for the flux capacitors

I have two different genetics Phobos and golden halos two of my favorites. I had the same genetics for two years must’ve took them 50 different times when I don’t feel like having a body load I Take the Phobos I never have a body load no matter how many times I take it. The golden halos give me a body load, but also there’s certain things i like about it now every golden halo and Phobos will be different because they’re different genetics but my genetics been consistent and they’ve been from the same genetics and also the Phobos or super visual where the golden halos are more headspace

I didn't have enough experience, but it makes sense to me. Being made up of the same thing, just different amounts of them like weed. It's all weed, but different strains have different effects right? So I'd image its the same with shrooms.

I believe cultivation bottlenecks the genes of what is a very outbred organism. We mix the spores from one fruit in mycology, when in the wild i doubt the spores from the same fruit ever meet in any meaningful capacity, since the sheer billions of other spores from different "strains" will see to that statistical probability

Each cannabis seed is going to have different characteristics and genetics. They are only the same if you back pollinated a clone with the parent plant, by inducing hermaphroditism. The same way spores do or animals,the children are not identical and most strains are not what they are labeled as, especially at dispensaries.

I was wondering If you know why a coir lover may be fruiting slowly, sparely and they are small. Its TED. Temp is 82, good condensation and 2x day fan. It's winter where I live but the apartment is very warm. Thanks!
@MycoSage
@MycoSage Год назад
There could be any number of factors and it’s hard to tell without a pic but it what you mentioned often happens when they are fighting a mold contamination that’s yet to surface. You can post pics on the discord server (link in description)

What is a bunk flush? I have some b+ spores from a reputable place. I haven’t ran those yet
@MycoSage
@MycoSage Год назад
A bunk flush is when they’re minimally active or not active at all. It can happen with multispore
@MycoSage
@MycoSage Год назад
Just the nature of going from spores rather than the reputability of a vendor, they can’t control what the spores do
@JustReckles5
@JustReckles5 Год назад
@@MycoSageI typically get about 55G dried from a block. Does that seem accurate for B+? Also, I've read somewhere that it's actually supposed to read B Positive

@tonymcdaniel200

Yes they do have different effects in many ways. Right now I'm doing 15 strains and doing a hero of each then micro dose for a month and documentation of each strain if it helped sleep productivity mood anything it Gould harm or heal. So far 3 strains down each different. Will do a video release of each after .
@MycoSage
@MycoSage Год назад
But how do you know that the difference was due to the variety versus the natural variance in the psychedelic experience itself? Have you accounted for that? That’s what I’m talking about.
