Here in Germany, Paulaner and Franziskaner N/A Radlers and Russ are AWESOME! The Radlers are 50/50 N/A lager and lemonade, while the Russ are 50/50 N/A weissbier and lemonade.

American here, thank you for this comment, I had no idea how to spell it so I could do a search to find out what it is. Looks like our equivalent is the old-school huge shredded wheat blocks.

@@nitehawk86 We also have the huge shredded wheat 'bales', they bear almost no similarity to weetabix in texture or taste. Weetabix is more of a dry compressed slab of small wheat flakes.

This is oddly helpful to me. Through medical condition and meds I can no longer drink alcohol, it is rather tragic, but some of these may be available as an alternative! Rather than just ginger beers.

I wonder what you'd think of Israeli malt "beers" I don't know if they sell them anywhere else. It's a (non-alcoholic) malty sweet drink that is somewhere between root beer, cream soda, stout, and kvass. (edit: I could send you a few if you want)

I recently quit drinking, I've tried Peroni, Heineken, bitburger, shloshgold, unN IPA, Carlton, coopers birrel ultra light but I've found I like hoppy ales and IPA's, stouts, porters, session ales extra pale ales, imperial red ales etc, I've found two really nice pale ales, tinnies ultra low alcohol pale ale and big drop pine trail pale ale 0.5% that last one is my favorite

Nice, er, family photo top right! Brewdog also do Hazy AF (an IPA) and Raspberry Blitz (a sour). They also do Subwoofer, but that's meant for dogs.

omigod, Klausthaler is _my_ worst experience. very few things (generally acceptable to some of general public, not rotten or anything) are so disgusting that i have to spit them out, but i did it with Klausthaler. just beginning to watch and if Matt loves it i will dislike the vid! (just kidding of course, but.) edit: i still love Matt, same taste. "just. no." - i generally prefer normal beers, alcoholic, but there are moments in life when one has tu succumb to inev. and drink non-alcoholic beer...

Punk IPA is easily my favorite beer, but I find Nanny state absolutely abhorrent, it tastes like dirt mixed with animal feed but each to their own. Also pro tip if you want to watch your alcohol intake, punk IPA works really well as a shandy as its pretty close to being a lager.

Clausthaler started the non-alcoholic beer era in Germany decades ago and I always thought they were quite good - not sure what they are doing with this one!

Are you drinking these cold? My usual way of deciding if it's a good low/no alcohol drink is whether on not it still tastes as good as it warms up!

not beer but kind of related, St Clement's Apple & Pear is a really nice non-alcoholic one that tastes exactly like the old cider lollies you used to be able to get from the ice cream van, it's delicious - i've found it in sainsbury's, don't know where else stocks it though

Having read the guidance I can't believe that you can't say "non-alcoholic" when referring to a product that is usually alcoholic. You can however say "Alcohol Free"... What's the difference? They mean the same - I feel our government is being picky...

here in the Netherlands do to the clearly higher demand for them. non alcoholic beer really are getting better and better. All the mayor brands and a lot of the smaller once are all developing complete lines with in the non alcoholic section.

Cool initiative! Personally I don’t mind a bit of alcohol from time to time. But these days there are some really great non-alcoholic beers! I was wondering if there is anyway to send you some more beers to test? We have some great non-alcoholic beers made by Swedish beer brewers and I bet there is at least one port or stout you would like. :)

Tiny rebel had a collab with big drop called "imperial mocha vanilla stout". It was very tasty. Try it if you can find it. Also 0.5%abv

Here in the States I've recently taken a liking to Malta Goya, a Mexican non-alcoholic malt beverage that is a bit too sugary for my taste but pretty good. I'll probably try some of these if I can find them around here. I'm also not an alcohol drinker (not for any moral or religious objections, I just get drunk (and subsequently sick) very easily. My Irish ancestors are ashamed.

I was, in general, never a fan of larger, even when I was drinking alcohol. That being said, I've really got into Moretti Zero lately. Not too fizzy with some nice punch to it. Give it a try everyone if you haven't already.

Nope. Regulated the same as alcoholic, to avoid promoting alcohol to children, and to make regulating the sale of alcohol easier. In most cases the alcohol-free options look the same!

The Heineken 0.0% is absolutely free of alcohol. Heineken claims that you should be able to drink it as a doctor on call.

If you don't like the San Miguel 0,0; then definitely don't try Beck's Blue - it's vile. Cobra do a good 0.0%, i've had it a few times when out for a curry, and I've been driving.

There's a new brand in Canada (Ontario specifically) called Partake, which is actually really good (and I generally dislike all this stuff). It has a Pale Ale which is terrific. So, I doubt you'll get to try it, for for the Canucks watching give it a try.

An interesting topic. I had no idea how big na beers have become in the last few years. As a home brewer, my first question has always been "how do you actually make an NA beer that tastes anything like beer" You can't just mix the ingredients and NOT ferment it. Un-fermented wort is cloying and, I assume "wheetabix" (never had it before, but just the name sounds about like what wort tastes like). Definitely not drinkable, at least not more than a taste to test the beer. And honestly, alcohol is part of the flavor of beer. I suspect that much of the overly sweet flavor comes from a lack of alcohol cutting that flavor. When I saw this video I decided to finally do some research and it's quite interesting how they make these beers. Over here in the US NA beer isn't nearly as big as it is over there (something something na beer makes you a pansy, something something, murica!) but at the same time, most beer drinkers in the US don't seem to actually care about the taste of their beer, and only drink to get drunk, which I suspect is a large reason why.

It's pretty simple actually, you make beer as normal, then remove alcohol in your preferred method. Boiling it out, proper distillation, either of those under vacuum, reverse osmosis, there are some options. I'm guessing vacuum distillation is preferred because you can keep the same temperature and recover the alcohol to sell as a spirit either to distillers or the public directly.

Amazed you liked Ghost Ship. I ordered it at a Spoons once and only got through a third of the bottle. When the guy who served me came over to clean up he went "Yeah, it's shit isn't it?". Also I didn't know the Big Drop ones and will be sure to seek them out.

Alcoholic beverages of any kind give me a migraine. I was always a lightweight anyway but it was nice having a drink with family or friends once in a while. I’ve never tried non-alcoholic beers and I wonder if they would work for me? I also don’t know if it’s worth risking a migraine to find out. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

I didn't think the HK would have been drinkable. Since I've stopped drinking industrial beers, HK has been tasting more and more like water to me. I haven't tried the non alcoholic version though
