My vote is that the leech did indeed kill you. However, this world doesn't need to be dead. You still have your temp base, your portal network, Haldor located etc. Might be worth slowing down and building that carrot farm and boar ranch?

You and Henrik literally have the best valheim content, don't stop now, don't let a little skill reset prevent you from picking back up and dusting off. You've barely made it to the elder yet

Keep playing! You said preset hardcore not player rules hardcore. This is a totally different beast without a map. It would be nice to see how you recover if you die. No gear or skills but a base and portals.

As an experienced player 5k+hrs i entered hard core as you did. Full confidence. Soon found that entering into the next level mobs unprepared is a mistake. And a thousand chances to make just ONE mistake is a sure way to end the run. Take this run as a learned lesson and continue on with the run. Merry Christmas all.

I think on a no map play through die as many times as you have to. The no map is hard enough. And HALDOR!

You can keep playing according to the hardcore "rules". You just lose everything you're holding and your skills reset. So you'll need to re-create all your gear.

From nomap run from Henrik: you could always precise the item orientation by digging a hole until see perfect square shape which is purely north-south-east-west oriented.

It is a freepass. As long as your grave isnt shown up you are not dead. And indeed we dont have a competition here, we are playing a game to have fun and if you keep going it will be fun for me. If you feel the same you should go on I think.

If I were to use a "get out of jail free" card, it would for sure be on a run where haldor shows up this early. Merry Christmas Thread!

Valheim hardcore=lose all your stuff but keep playing

I love chilling to your playthroughs, especially this no-map one, and I support whatever choice you want to make. But I'd ditto the comments about "hardcore" vs "permadeath". Dying doesn't have to be the end. You just have to accept the setback. I wonder if you could soften the blow a little by quickly dropping everything you can before the last tick of that poison hits, so you could recover some of the gear later once you're skilled/geared back up.

Ouch!! This would be a tough decision for me as well. Already somewhat familiar with the land...Haldor found... but then again, do you really want to wake up with no skills or items. I would probably ultimately just start over though.

Happy Holidays all. Thread, one of the first videos of you I saw, you had to "pick up up every mushroom you saw." I would love to see a video where you had to fish, cook fish, and use fish in every biome for something. Like using puffers in "farms" or something. Especially in hardcore or something that would increase the raid cycle and make you sweat a little! :)

You found the elusive dwarf with the farting lox Edit: that being said I think you died, but the beauty of Valheim Hardcore is it doesn't delete your character, just makes you wish they did, so feel free to continue or start again, I'll watch it either way 👍

Honestly, I vote for getting to recover the body but lose all the skills. It's like finding a treasure along the way from a previous adventurer. Like when you find a shipwreck! Just way more powerful. And I really feel like the skill drop will have a huge effect anyways. Buuuuut!!!! You can't play it for a month+ so it feels like a new adventure with fantastic treasures of a previously fallen adventurer 😊 Maybe, right now, go in and give the portals scrambled names so you have to reconnect them to use them when you come back in the future. But definitely don't give up on a world where you found Haldor!!!!

Thread, don't feel guilty about logging out to spare the poison death. I just finished watching Henrik in his hard mode deathless run and by the 12 episode he logged out several times to spare himself. No one was bothered by it: not him, not us. I know you are different on that aspect, but a true hardcore run is already so demanding and annoying that a few "freebies" will only damage the ego if you really let it. Mistakes will happen, even to a player of your calibre. Anyway, that's my opinion.

When/If you do end up dying in hardcore mode I'd say no free passes, which would include a cheese to stay alive when there is imminent death, this would help you play more carefully and be more prepared in future runs, as it's all trial and error until you get it perfect. That being said, if you were to die, I would hope to see a new hero rise up from the fire and unleash eternal wrath upon the foul demons and beasts that turned your hero into a corpse. Remember, it's 0:07.

Game version "hardcore" is not player version Permadeath/aka start over. So I vote keep playing and start making gear and gaining skills again. My 2 cents. Will go with any choice you make.

I‘d say world modifier hardcore is not no death hardcore, otherwise the devs would have built that already in. So die as often as necessary as a true viking and gear up once again to finish this! Currently also doing a preset hardcore playthrough and I called my character livedierepeat :-D so far only died once to a wolf (they are so freakin fast) at current mountain segment…

Still playing. Everybody gets a mulligan in hardmode.

Made a run last night. 6hr 49minutes playing hardcore same setting. Had lvl 2 troll armor set. Portals,cult,ferm. Lvl 4 weapons. File was too big to upload :( 😢

2 feathers get you 60 feathers. 2 feathers makes 20 arrows. 20 arrows kills 20 birds at 3 feathers a bird. So using arrows other than wood, to kill birds, is only a bad thing if you miss more than 50% of your shots…

I am on my third attempt at hardcore, no portal, permadeath, reverse order bosses. I dunno, if I can do it. Starting to think not. Got to slow way down, and smell the turnips.

You're dead, but isn't this game based on the concept of living your best "dead Viking" life in Valheim anyway? Keep going - you know digital Odin will give you another shot.

I set aside time to watch the whole thing today, but skipped to the end for a sneak peak "Intuition".. I have to say keep going since you lose everything anyway. first run like this = get some breaks.. Next season NG :) EDIT: ok finally got to finish watching 8hrs later lol.. Still say, Yeah free pass. Got to do some sailing! PS: Hardcore Valheim does not say you cannot keep going, just says you lose everything! honestly most games have a map on hardcore and most are not procedural. they are the same map no changes "Dark Souls" and others. Valheim changes the world every time.

That's a truly tough decision to make. On one hand, hard and very hard combat is where your skill and style genuinely shine, and I'd be thrilled to see a lot more of that. However, on the flip side, continuing feels like bending the rules a bit too much for my liking. I was looking forward to seeing your approach to higher-tier biomes, and particularly your take on navigating the ocean, but I think Yolof is dead. Saying that really stings. I hope I’m in the minority here and this series continues. Edited to add: I cast my vote assuming the series would end, and you wouldn't dive into Hardcore again unless we handed you a free pass. Did I get that right?

nah sorry no free passes, its called hardcore for a reason, it wont feel as good to beat it if ur cheating death ill go even further and say delete world upon dying, like in minecraft hardcore, that makes a lot more sense to me, but thats a self imposed rule of course at least in valheim

Hardcore is Hardcore. You dead. Only way to keep it alive is starting and showing MS Paint map :)

sup, it was definitely ur fault, so the entire run is invalid :) the only reason u died cuz u got greedy and didnt make poison mead. Next time speedrun through plains to pick up some flax and barley and get urself a free pass again.
