Comparison between a 2008 Lexus LX 570 and a 2008 Landcruiser 200 series.
What are the differences, what can you expect to pay? Also see why these SUVs last so long. AHC vs KDSS and much more.
Forgot to mention TOWING Capacity:
Although the same engine, torque, weight and frame, the LX and LC have different towing capacity. This is because of the suspension.
THe LX was rated for 8000 when it first came out, then downgraded to 7000.
This is because the AHC when under too much load, will go into safety mode and drop to the Low level, which is not safe for highways.
The Landcruiser is rated for 8500 with its fixed suspension.
Also for off roading, the KDSS is far superior, allowing for decoupling of the sway bars when off road, enabling the wheels to hang low in a dip or tuck in high in the wheel well.
So towing is a major consideration between these two as well as aggressive off roading on terrain that is more than just a fire road.

I just snatched up an 08 single owner LX570 w/ 130k mls for $24k. Garage kept, all maintenance on time, no smoker. Had a love tap on the rear bumpa a few yrs ago that led it to be so low, otherwise probably would have gone for $28-$29k, maybe over 30 given what I've seen these past few months on autotrader. Giggity-Giggity!

Ive had a 97' 80 Series since 2012 and it now has over 360K and wouldn't sale it unless they were offering 3-4 times book value! Its been a awesome reliable go anywhere ride and was so impressed w/ it that I just bought a one owner 2014 Lexus LX570 w/ 125K on the clock w/ impeccable service records and didn't have a second thought pulling the trigger on it!😉It drives like new and the cosmetic condition shows the previous owner was meticulous and I couldn't have asked for a better example! Love these vehicles and they are so worth every penny! Great Vid and I look forward to more in the future❤💯

I bought a 2013 LX 570 with 135K miles for $28k. Best vehicle I've ever owned. The window sticker was in the 80k's and I got it for under 30K, still runs as if its brand new!

As an owner of 100series, really should have mentioned AHC maintainace cost. The AHC would have to be serviced ~250k miles which adds to LX ownership cost-prohibitively so

Just purchased a 2008 200 series Land Cruiser. Grey with Grey interior he put Bridgestone Dueler A/T 285 /70/17 on TRD forged Toyota Rock Warrior Wheels. Old Man Emu OME Lift. Rear Air bags. So different than the 80 100 series I’ve driven. Feels like I’m in the Tank from Fury. “Best Job I’ve ever had”. My only disappointment was way back seats are not designed to come out. A set of Rocky Road sliders and I’m set. See you all on the trails.

Im just a 20 year old but my love for the lc200 especially that first 2008 model is so big. Practicality, cheap parts,service and maintenance, powerful, large suv, spacious interior, built to last, diesel, v8, you can buy a bumper kit if you like a 2020 look. Damn I will buy a 2010 one and will use it forever.

They are amazing SUVs. I have a 40, 62, 80,100 and 200. The 200 drives so effortlessly, the 2008 is faster than the 2020... 7.1s 0-60 It is the ultimate and best built overlander out there. Versatile, and built tonlast 600k miles and more. Mine has 200k and still drives like new... it amazes me to this day.

Well, oil.change is cheap for a 5.7L, about $65 at the dealer. But other repairs can get pricey at the dealer (still better than LX dealership service, for same car as LX570) but any toyomaster can do repairs for much less. Buy your own parts and have fixed at toyomaster repair shop. For example Timing belt maintenance: Lexus: 2000 Toyota: 1400 Toyo shop: 650 (400 labor, 250 parts)

Ahhh Yes the Black Garnet. Very cool color, black in the shade, but in sun the metallic fleck changes the color to the Garnet.

Are the seats more or less firm in the LX? I just test drove a 2013 and the seats were extremely firm compared to a GX. I was just wondering if the LC seats were more cushy or not. Thank you!

Yes, let the 1st buyer take the depreciation hit... then buy and hold value much closer to your purchase price. Bring to dealer for an oil change, then surprise the wife and say you are going to pick up a new car at the dealer with her. (Spray new car smell fragrance!)

Just bought a 09 Lx570 Florida One Owner with 128k miles....it’s best vehicle I have ever driven so far!!! (last vehicles were LC100, E55 AMG, Cadillac, Tahoe, H2, Tundra)

LX570 is amazing with AHC suspension and 383hp.. Comparing to.other SUVs makes sense, but an E55? Is the LX faster? Lol I have a E55 and for me... best 4 door car. Mine is 600hp with intoxicating deep tone from exhaust (video on my channel) I have a FJ40 lifted... its better than my LX570 and my E55, at roxk crawling and going where no other goes... i have a Porsche Twin Turbo, and it can rip around corners like no other... So I would say, all my cars/trucks, are the best I have ever driven, in esch of their categories

@Cruising The Land at 8:06 you mention repairing the LX's driver seat. How would you do this and what are the end results? I'm considering a late 100 or early 200. The better prices tend to correlate with driver seat wear. What's a good fix for ripped or cracking leather? I looked at a premium priced 2011 LX570 that drove like new with 101K miles. Front row leather seats were OK, but cracking while the second row seats looked miserable. I'm guessing kids moving in and out of the vehicle's wore on the second row. I'm getting comfortable with >200K mi LCs. If an LC 100 or 200 can legitimately make 400-500K then 200-250K miles could be very reasonable. I'm driving 10-12K miles annually, so a LC 100 at 180-220K miles might be only 240K-280K miles in five years. By then, the LC 200 would be in my all cash price range. I feel like if I could freshen up rough interiors, my family would be happy with a late 100 series. Am subscribed and liking your videos.

I have replaced just the driver bottom, which gets the most wear, and went with Leather. What a difference it makes! Vinyl is cheaper, but leather will be much better and you will be happy you did. I paid $300 for it to be done here in Socal. I also have a 200 with almost 200k and my wife has a 570 with 210. Both drive like new. Such quality builds coming out of Japan. I have videos comparing those two as well.

Thanks for the video! Just got a 2015 LX 570 this week with 125k miles and this confirmed my confidence in my purchase. Quick question, I’ve gotten a mixed answer on what kind of fuel I can use in the LX. Do you have an opinion on premium, mid or regular fuel?

From my understanding of the engine, the LX does not requires premium fuel, but recommends it. Using premium fuel will allow it to achieve a 2 hp and 2 lb-ft increase over the LC's 381 / 401 output. Otherwise, you can run regular gas with no negative impact to the engine.

Nice trucks, hoping to find a similar yr LX in good milage & condition. I think those look better than the 2 current models. The major difference between Japanese vehicles vs other brands is that Japanese vehicles are built to last vs built to last a few yrs (Stalentis/dodge) then junk it so new vehicles sell…..more profit for manufacturers. They fit. The TRD caps are covered in black wrap and another emblem put on. The silver cap just didn't blend in. I do have spacers.

Hi Guus, Both the V8s in the 100 and 200 (470 and 570) get about the same fuel economy MPG. The 383 hp 5.7 off set the higher HP with a little more efficiency, so burns same amount of gas as the LX 470.

The tire size is 285/70/17 Thats the equivalent to a 33". It does have slight rubbing on the front tires when steering is fully turned, but very minor at that. This is with brand new BFG KO2s. As they wear, the rubbing will decrease. The rubbing is either stock height or if you do the 1.5" spacer lift. The spacer lift is amazing. Keeps the geometry and handling the same, yet give you a lift of 1.5". You MUST reset the KDSS by unscrewing the release valves about 3 turns, let it settle then re torque. There is a video on RU-vid for that. The rear doesn't need to be done as its already higher than the front, and once you lift the front, the rear just matches up and looks perfect. And no changes to any other components. LCs in other countries come with the spacers from factory. The headlight tint is Bronze color, which you can buy on eBay for $12. Hope that helps! I love the lift and was cheap to do! 30mm spacers for $60 and $200 to install.

Can you help me locate the ‘spacer’ you referenced on the land cruiser? You said it was on eBay and relatively inexpensive. Awesome video btw! I just picked up a 2008 with 121k miles. Way better than my Audi Q7 TDI

Spacers for a 200 series are just any standard 5 x 150 spacer. On the 100s and 80s you need the Spidertrax for the front floating hub, which is only available at Slee.

I just bought a 2010 LX570. Have you ever had the locking diff light start blinking when you start it up? Mine did today and then went off after I cycled through 4L and 4H a few times.

I have a front bar on my FJ40, ARB front bar on my FJ62 and a AOE bar on my FJ80. But for some odd reason, I am not a fan of any bars for the 100 series.

Hi , I have a 2010 lx 570 , I do the oil change myself, for me is annoying deal with the metal plates underneath, did you known if they sell a metal splash guard ? You know instead of the 3 and all those screws, I just want 1 with 4 screws,is my wife truck and never goes off-road, just Utah snow . Thanks!!!

The Toyota dealership wants only $65 for an oil change.. Lexus is $110. But mine is 2008 using conventional oil, a 2010 may be taking Mobil1.

Very informative video loved it a lot. How quiet is the cabin while driving on the road for the LX570? My wife has the GX460 and noise level is much higher than my LS430. To your experience would LX570 has similar quietness low noise level like the LS sedan? Thanks!

The cabin is quieter in a 570 than LC. However a sedan will always be quieter. Also original windshield will always be quietest with factory install, ince you replace a windshield, they are never quite the same.

@@CruisingTheLand I own a lx470 which the front windshield was replaced and there's definitely more wind noise than I would like. Do you feel if the dealer replaced the windshield . Will be equal to factory noise levels from new. or it won't be the same?

@@ozzie3056 unfortunately a replaced windshield is never quite the same as a factory installed original. The key is to find a shop that has experience with imstalling... as there are strips that go up into the rain gutter... I just replaces one in a LX570, and cabin quietness at 80mph will never be the same...

The LX570 and Landcruiser have the same 5.7L V8 383hp here fir thr US market. Exactly the same. Comea off same assembly line. Same fuel system.

Do you recommend Michelin Latitude Tour HPs for the LX? I live in a very hot country and the stock Dunlops keep dry rotting and wearing fast. Considering switching to Pirellis Scorpio Verde Plus 2 next but I see most people have Michelins on their LX. What's your experience?

The Michelin are the best! I use the Defenders, which have a 75k mile warranty. Keep the Receipt and if they are worn after 40k (which a LX470 will wear them down) then they give you 40% off a new set. Just have installed at a retail tire shop.

@@CruisingTheLand Thanks for the reply. I’ve tried looking for Michelin Defenders for my stock rims (285/50R20), but it seems they only sell Michelin Latitude Tour HPs for that size here. That 75K mile warranty sounds awesome, though. If they had Latitude Tour HPs with that warranty I’d snatch it up, but it seems Pirellis are better rated (according to tirerack). And they’re much cheaper here. The UTQG for the Michelins are only 440AA whereas the Pirellis are 740AA as well

The LX570 taillight I bought tinted from a professional shop. Its not wrapped, they are sprayed then wet sanded to be snooth.

Great video. Do you have any experience with Toyota Sequoias? I ask because as much as I would love to own an LC, I wonder if the Sequoia would be a better family car (more cargo, storage, cupholders, etc). They may “only” last 300k miles instead of 600k like the LC, but they are also half the price. Thanks

Get an older LC or LX in your price range with a clean record. Sequoias are just not in the same league of build quality and durability. I put @180k miles on a sequoia, have have/had two LCs. I have no intention of ever selling the LC we have now.

Yes, 150k is super low for these trucks, that can easily go 500-600k miles. To get below 25k, you would have to look at 200k and higher.

I have to rewatch my video. I don't recall why I would say that, as I have a 2008.. a d 09,10,11 and off year 12 (those were 2011s) are all the same. So there would be no reason. I think I meant the 2008 is a great deal as exact same as 09-11 My LX570 is going up for sale.

So here’s my dilemma, help me out here man. Love the videos by the way. I am stuck between a 2016 LX 570 with all the options white with cream interior and the rims and grill is blacked out (love it. Also done at dealership). Or a 2016 Land Cruiser. My big thing is ride quality/comfort and road/cabin noise while driving. LX is $60k with 20k miles. Land cruiser is $60k with 20k miles. Which would you go for and why?

I have both... If you are going to do some overlanding, both are good, but LC has KDSS which is better than AHC.

Regular in both, premium every 4 fill ups. These are built for world wide distribution where fuel in many areas isn't the best. 87 cotane is fine, 81 every once in a while with cleaners in it like Shell with Vpower, Chevron with Techron or even Costco gas is top tier.

Guys keep in mind the Lexus Is a 2010-2014 model, keep in mind how much the vehicle has changed since then. The 2016-2020 Lx570 is a beast with beautiful headlights, huge grill, more options, amazing interior furnish!

One obstacle I have found is these vehicles are hard to find, I live in Montana but, find there is one for Sale for example in Connecticut or Wisconsin , Usually a long way away for me. Even saw one for sale in Chicago, I am Leary of Chicago. I would say I like the Land Cruiser over the Lexus but, Both Trucks are truly amazing.

Such a great little review!! I'm moving from Hawaii to Colorado in a few weeks and sold my 2003 Montero and am itching to get my next truck and I'm between these two vehicles. I would LOVE a LC just for the fact that my parents had a 100 Series when I was young and it would be cool to get a 200. 200's though are so few and far between any more and I want to stay south of 100k miles on the LC orrrrrr the LX under 70k miles. If I can find one for under 40 grand I would be in heaven and hopefully get a 1 owner.

I wouldn't worry too much about 1 owner. Alot of these LCs or LXs were Brass Hats (GM from dealer drives for a year before they lease or sell) and that adds an owner. Service records are more important than owners, and a southern truck, out of the rust belt. I have had all, 100, 200, LC LX... all are great.

I found a white on tan 2010 1 owner clean carfax 87k miles asking 35,990. Looks super clean from the photos I’ve seen. Has full service history from local Toyota dealer all maint intervals completed. I think just had new tires and pads about 15k ago. Seems like a nice deal.

87 octane. These are built for world wide distribution and some fuel out there is pretty crap. Maybe every 5th fillup pit 91 oxtane to keep it clean.

No mods..barely rubs with full trunk when tires are new. With he AHC, the ride is great even with 22s.

What's the reasoning behind "I would stay away from 09, 10, 11 and beyond" if mechanically it's the same just different body redesign? Are you saying this because of the price or does newer models have manufacturing flaws ?
