This song has one of the most "beautiful" bass tones ever. So full and rounded and then when it syncs with the riff - just an amazing rich sound. Randy Bachman sure knew how to engineer a melodic yet thunderous riff

BTO had a string of hit records. A great 70s band. Check out "let it ride" "roll on down the highway" "taking care of business" Randy Bachmann the guitarist and main vocalist was in a band before this called The Guess Who. They had some big hits in the 60s. Lenny Kravitz had a hit with a cover version of "American woman" by the guess who.

If you think that Randy Bachman is the second most successful songwriter in Canada and only mention Gordon Lightfoot as his superior - you need to change your meds! Ever hear of Neill Young, Joni Mitchell, Robbie Robertson, Leonard Cohen, Alanis Morrisette, Bryan Adams, Paul Anka, Shania Twain - not to mention Drake? Also, Randy was certainly NOT the main vocalist of BTO. Freddy Turner was the main vocalist of BTO.

Yes, Bachman's brother, who had a speech impediment, used to hang around the studio when they were recording, and they used to play this for him as a joke ... but he absolutely loved it. It was never meant to be played publicly, but then, running short for/on the album by 1 song, the producer (I believe) insisted that they do this song, and it became a major hit for them.

The sheriff who was at the door wouldn't let me in, but I looked over his shoulder and saw a Randy Bachman sitting at a table with the rest of the band and waved to him, as if he knew me and was waiting for me. I know it has been used in other movies/shows (another person mentioned it being on a Drew Carey Show episode), but figured I would share what I found.

The truth bomb of Brad just straight out saying it’s only a drought for girls if they want it to be was amazing. Lex’s reaction was so pure. I love your interactions

They have used that music in several commercials including a fast food one recently. That is why you have heard it.

A Canadian classic played at all our high-school dances. Bell bottoms, wine skins and girls who loved to dance.

Scotch Bright and Toyota commercials for just a couple of examples. As soon as I saw what you were going to check out I knew Lex was going to love this. But I was surprised at how much Brad liked it as well.

I love when songs have stuttery lyrics. Makes it more fun to sing along with.

I live in Ohio and my local classic rock station has probably played this song at least 500 million times since it came out.
