@@williamsmith1399 Bruce Willis came at the tail end of the 80’s for movie action but it was impactful. Gibson definitely with Mad Max and Lethal Weapons films.
Patrick Swayze was a great actor, a "classically" trained dancer and a good singer. He sang "She's Like the Wind" which was in the movie Dirty Dancing.
Not only was he the leading Mann of the eighties, he was also classically trained in ballet. Him and his wife were such an amazing couple. They were married for many years.
Brad & Lex, you'll love Jennifer's duet "Up Where We Belong" with Joe Cocker!! Bill Medley is with The Righteous Brothers, try their "Soul And Inspiration"!
Of course you heard Bill Medley was the brother with deep voice in Righteous Brothers. He's 81 still performing. I suggest reacting to his 68 solo hit Brown Eyed Woman, it's fantastic.
Dirty Dancing holds up surprisingly well, as does the soundtrack. As someone else suggested, watch the movie then the Netflix documentary (part of the "Movies that Made Us" series). R.I.P. Patrick Swayze.
It was released when I was 8. This was how I first learned about abortion. I still remember asking my mom some tough questions and she handled it beautifully.
I was born in '83 and I don't recall when exactly this movie came out but I couldn't have been more than five or six years old. This was NOT my kinda movie but I respect the talent in it. Patrick Swayze was one of my favorite actors. Road House, Black Dog, Forever Lulu, Uncommon Valor were awesome movies of his. They could've picked somebody way better to play 'Baby' though, Jennifer Grey was ANYTHING but attractive or a good fit for that role. No wonder she was Ferris Bueller's annoying sister. I can't go without mentioning Baby' father, the late Jerry Orbach. One of the nicest, calmest, smartest and respectful actors ever. Super great stand-up kinda guy. Wasn't he in Law/Order or maybe CSI? Patrick Swayze lost his battle with cancer and left us WAY too early. I'll never forget that man. He was a good guy and I really liked what he stood for.
This was the music for one of the most iconic and emotionally satisfying dance scenes in a movie ever. ( Dirty Dancing). You must see it! Do you recognize Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers singing?
For those like me who grew up in the 80’s, this song along the movie and the soundtrack, is a beautiful and warm memory of our teenage years!!! Go check out the documentary about the movie on Netflix, and of course watch the movie…
Guys, you really need to watch this movie, music, dance, love… even at my age I can get choked up! It takes place in the summer of 1963, & captures the innocence & coming of age of your typical youth. Simply outstanding!
@@hgianos65 Yes exactly, it wasn't really pointed out in the movie but in the fall of 63 would be the JFK assasination followed by the Beatles in early 64. That summer of 1963 was really a special time and the movie depicts that wonderfully.
Patrick's mother was a dance teacher in Houston, and I knew many people that met Patrick by taking dance lessons from his mother. Bless Patrick, lost far too early.
We were flexible social dancers since the Swing dancing came about in the late 1920s. Your Grandparents and Great Grandparents new how to have a good time on the dance floor.
Song is iconic 80's...was sampled on "Dirty Bit" by Black Eyed Peas. Patrick Swayze was the man in the 80's and early 90's. Action, romance, even comedy(see his bits on SNL). Roadhouse, Red Dawn, Point Break, Ghost..he was great in everything he did!
The Outsiders was one of his early movies, and it was also very good, it also had Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Ralph Macchio, Diane Lane, Leif Garret, Tom Waits
This was a really big wedding song in the 80's - Every wedding I attended had this song in the playlist!! Great memories, and the movie Dirty Dancing was greatness - the movie takes place during the end of the 50's, you should check it out!
During the 80's Swayze made The Outsiders, Red Dawn, Dirty Dancing, Road House, and Ghost among others. (Ghost was released in 1990). All worth watching. Swayze sadly passed away in 2009.
Doubling up in Sam's correct comment below, yeah, Bill Medley was 1/2 of the Righteous Brothers. 😁😇 I'll tell ya what guys ...you might like watching Joe Cocker duet with Jennifer Warnes in "Up Where We Belong". Best version seems to be their performance at the Night At The Proms concert. 😁🥂👍🕊️
People didn't dance like that in the eighties at clubs that I ever saw. That's Ballroom Dancing, popular several decades earlier, hard to do, fun to watch.
This song has been used in dozens of movies and commercials… it was written for Dirty Dancing but they had to convince Bill Medley to sing it. Bill was the baritone half of the Righteous Brothers. His partner Bobby Hatfield’s song ‘Unchained Melody’ was featured in another Patrick Swayze movie ‘Ghost’.
Patrick swayze really was a cool dude. His father was rancher and his mother a dance teacher so he kinda ended up a bit of both. Learned to dance and could wrangle pretty well. He also learned martial arts and took up skydiving for one of my favourite movies of his point break. Which he then did most of his own stunts for. He even part wrote and sung a song called "she's like the wind" for the same film as this... it's alright. I have always liked it anyway. According to the martial artist who had to fight him for the final fight in Roadhouse they actually did it for real and he said Swayze was pretty good and gave him a few bruises. If you can't tell I only recently watched a documentary on him and his life story was really interesting although ultimately sad. He had his demons and even for a guy who seemed to have everything alcohol addiction got the better of him. That wasn't what killed him but it ruined his relationship with his childhood sweetheart even though it seems after everything that they loved each other until his final day. So sad he died young.... Well relatively anyway.
Love your reactions guys! Still among my favorite reactors on the Tube. In the 80's dirty dancing like this was, of course, taboo. At our school dances, teachers made sure we stayed an arms length apart when dancing slow with a girl. The movie "Dirty Dancing" shattered the barrier. It was shocking... but exactly the kind of thing hormones did to a kid in the 80's. Some of the older generation did not like it at all! My mom was one and she was a lot more open minded than most parents of that time as we were not a religious family growing up. Patrick Swayze was a heartthrob in the 80's all the way to his passing. He was an amazing actor AND he could sing. He had one huge hit track titled "She's Like The Wind", which was written for the Dirty Dancing movie. It appears on the soundtrack with this track your reacting to. It was his only hit but it was massive in my little city. Still not sure why he didn't pursue a music career as well as acting, but he just didnt. And as a few commenters have mentioned, Bill is half of the duo The Righteous Brothers.
Lol, "Do you think thats how the 80s were?". Yall are so FREAKIN adorable. These videos have folks thinkin we were kickin over fire hydrants and doing choreographed song and dance routines in the spouting water.
@@Johnny_Socko Well since we are just gonna let the cat out of the bag, I had a fog machine and laser rays whenever I danced on top of cars in the streets.
Bill Medley is one half of the Righteous Brothers, what a fantastic and amazing, beautiful voice. Jennifer Warner has an amazing and beautiful voice, where did she go?
Hi guys. Patrick did make a ton of movies. He sadly passed in (I think) 2009. Bill Medley is the taller, deeper voiced half of the Righteous Brothers duo. He still occasionally performs, usually with his daughter.
Dirty Dancing what a movie. The 80s was prime life. Compare everything to nowadays the age of the internet. Obviously it has it pros like this RU-vid channel lol… but the 80s was just the epitome of fun in life imo.
Dirty Dancing, Top Gun, Ghostbusters, Karate Kid, E.T., Gremlins, Back to the Future, The Goonies, Flashdance, Indiana Jones, etc. etc. - the 80s was a fantastic decade for movies AND music! And consider that many of these movies had songs made for them (like the one in this video) - that have now become classics. Compared to today.....yet another Marvel/MCU movie.... And how many songs (made specifically for the movie) from modern movies do we remember? None comes to mind.
You guys didn't recognize Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers? You've lost that loving feeling...🎶 And our beloved Patrick Swayze is riding horses and dancing ballet in the skies. Rip, you wonderful, multi talented man! ❤️
He was in many great movies. We lost him in Sept 2009. He was hospitalized due to pneumonia which was believed to be a complication of chemotherapy for his cancer.
Great reaction, guys! You guys really have good conversational rapport, one of your true talents. This song was definitely iconic 80's but, did you know, the movie Dirty Dancing was actually based in the 1960's?
"Dirty Dancing" Really showcased Patrick's Dancing Abilities. For Action/Romance, Try "Roadhouse". One of his First Breakout Movies, it was "Red Dawn". ALL Great Movies! RIP. Patrick. "Have I heard Bill Medley Before?"... He was part of the Righteous Brothers... "You've lost that Loving Feeling".
This song was heavily sampled (or rather large parts of the chorus were re-recorded) in The Time (Dirty Bit) by the Black Eyed Peas a few years ago. That's probably where Brad recognizes it.
One of my all time favourite movies...... Best music, best dancing, and gorgeous Patrick R.I.P. Do yourself a favour and watch the original movie. You'll love it.
Yes, that's absolutely Patrick Swayze. One of the most beautiful, talented men ever. OMG I watched the Dirty Dancing movie in the theaters 16 or 17 times. Unfortunately, he is not still doing movies. He passed away too young.
hi! nice reaction!! loved Lex's smile...you have heard the chorus as a part of Black eyed Peas song. .but this one is just amazing....regards from Panama City Panamá!!!..
