This was one of my late wife's songs. She told me more than once that she felt that way about me. Listening to it brings back the feeling when she first told me how it made her feel. I still wonder how I could have ever been so blessed and fortunate to have had for 54 years. Sometimes our blessings are not recognized until they leave us behind.

Another one of those 70s songs that made young girls dream. We all wanted this to be how our future husbands were going to be. I have to say these songs gave us unrealistic expectations whis led to disappointments. But no one really talks that way. My heart really hurt when my husband didn't live up to the 70s songs poeticsism and all the swooning all over me. Lol. Reality was harsh. He died in the Navy. My second husband was Air Force and didn't talk that way either. But I got over the songs and my Husband always showed me his love. He would call me at work at some point every day just to say I Love You. He left me love notes too. He passed away 10 yrs ago next month. Last year I was having a hard time and I was reading my old painting magazines and he had put a note in it. It said Tere, No matter what happens i know we will be OK because we love each other beyond words. Love, Steve. This was a more serious note. Usually they were started with wife and signed husband. It was a note I needed. It's in a frame next to his picture.

So many girls say that Disney movies gave them unrealistic expectations of romance and relationships. Wrong. Bus Stop. The Rain, The Park, and Other Things. Sister Golden Hair. I Was Made to Love Her. Danny's Song. Our House. Songs like these gave me unrealistic expectations. 💯❤️ I'm sorry for your loss 🙏

I'm so touch by your words . With the madness of the feminist and modern women of today . It never dawned on me that there are women who felt this way , up until now . Yes , I realize that it mite of sound as if women are cold and harsh . In which I do apologize in advance. That is why I said . I can imagine both males and females who are true to each other . I am so thankful for your honesty and openness with us men . You could have pulled a Dido white flag . Which is not good for any female to do if she truly loves a man . I thank you ....

A bit later - 1974. The first time I heard this song is one of those "you remember when" moments - I was 11, and travelling on the bus to school. The driver had the radio on and must have liked this song because he turned the radio up as the song was annoucned. The first soaring guitar note held me transfixed that day, and I still get shivers up and down my spine every time I hear it, more than 40 years later. "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" and - a glance at the different society of the time - "Too Young to be Married" are two more excellent Hollies songs.

This was one of my 1974 beach summer songs. I turned 20 that July and my friends and I used to go to Hollywood Beach on Lake Michigan (I'm from Chicago) every Saturday. The other songs I remember are "The Night Chicago Died" by Paper Lace and "Star Baby" by The Guess Who. I had a second job which was part time at a roller rink and one of my friends/co-workers had a crush on one of the floor guards. In the song "Star Baby" there is a line that says "kissing in your Cadillac, star baby. She changed it to "kissing in your LTD, Pete baby" and we all ended up singing that way every time we heard the song. It was 48 years ago and it seems like yesterday.

The first 7" Single I bought was " DOWN BY THE RIVER " which was a big Chart Hit song in 1972/73 for ALBERT HAMMOND, in Australia. I think it is the first Hit song written about the environment being polluted. City life was gettin' us down So we spent the weekend out of town Pitched the tent on the patch of ground Down by the river Lit a fire and drank some wine You put your jeans on the top of mine Said, come in the water's fine Down by the river Down by the river Down by the river Said, come in the water's fine Down by the river Didn't feel too good all night So we took a walk in the morning light Came across the strangest sight Down by the river Silver fish lay on its side It was washed up by the early tide I wonder how it died Down by the river Down by the river Down by the river Silver fish lay on its side Down by the river Doctor put us both to bed He dosed us up and he shook his head Only foolish people go, he said Down by the riverWhy do willows weep, said heBecause they're dying graduallyFrom the waste, from the factoriesDown by the riverDown by the riverDown by the riverWhy do willows weep, said heDown by the riverIn time, the river banks will dieThe reeds will wilt and the ducks won't flyThere'll be a tear in the otter's eyeDown by the riverThe banks will soon be black and deadAnd where the otter raised his headWill be a clean white stone insteadDown by the riverDown by the riverDown by the riverWill be a clean white stone insteadDown by the river

On this side of the pond, the Hollies were one of the biggest bands of the 1960s, scoring 21 consecutive top 20 hits between 1963 and 1970, beginning with "Searchin'" and ending with "Gasoline Alley Bred". Two more than the Beatles. This is still a British record. Although Graham Nash, Allan Clarke and Tony Hicks wrote some of the hits ("Stop, Stop, Stop"; "Carrie-Ann" and "Jennifer Eccles" are good examples of these), the majority were either written for them ("Look Through Any Window" and "Bus Stop") or trawled from the record shops and music publicists in London by guitarist Tony Hicks. "The Air That I Breathe" is one such cover that was released in early 1974.

This song can take me back to 1974. Written by Albert Hammond, later on an album of Phil Everly songs, who sent the album to the Hollies (and they, of course, chose the one not written by Everly), then, heard later by Thom Yorke, who changed the lyrics to create the Radiohead song Creep.

I think their song "Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress" is about an FBI sting gone wrong that ended up in a shootout. It's really cool, whatever it's about.

Graham Nash was with the Hollies. He quit the very successful pop band in England sold everything and moved to LA to be part of the scene there, and eventually made music with Crosby and Stills. Sometimes Young and his girlfriend Joni Mitchell.

Hay baby . This song is so deep on a level that I imagine both males and females . " Who ", are real towards other . Feel for each other . In the 16 years of my marriage to my ex wife . I've always felt this way about her even to the very end when I realized that she had a change of heart and outgrew me . I had to let go . Obviously Spiritually , I never been able to let go . Yes , this song is that deep just as the lost endless pit of my soul . I want to thank you both on recognizing the group and playing their song out of the countless of other groups and songs you both could have played . This one brings tears to my eyes only to remember what it felt like to be alive and loved .

Early 1970s, not the 60s. I was a child when this was a big radio hit. The Hollies did originate in the Sixties, mind you, but they sounded different as part of the original British Invasion, as it was called. BTW, Graham Nash, of Crosby, Stills & Nash, was an original member of The Hollies. By this time, though, he had parted to co-found his 1970s super-group, which sometimes included Neil Young.
