I remember in high school, we were playing a team and we hit a lay up with 1.5 seconds left to put us up 2 and the trailing team called a timeout. I knew that was too much time to easily get up the courts and try to throw up a shot. One kid in our student section decide to do the “I believe that we will win” chant. I was trying to tell the kid to shut up because the team we were facing was one of the best three-point shooting teams in our area at the time. Everyone in the student section thought that I was overreacting and I reminded them that other teams in our area have pulled off a miracle like this. Team gets a quick inbound 2 quick dribbles and a shot at the buzzer and nails it from half court at an angle. We lost by one, everyone in our student section was surprise it looks like they just got punched in the gut. As for me I was the only person in the whole student section that said I told you so.

I've seen this happen twice in one game. The Kansas Record book for it also shows it as the only 2 long shots ever going in. My school did it in 1988. They beat the state champs from a lower class division by 1 point in the game 50 to 49. Both shots were about 5 feet from where this kiddo shot his just above the free throw line. It's crazy that one long bomb goes in but 2 of them in one game. It was amazeing. Had never seen anything like it before in my life. It was crazy to watch it.

This game was played on March 4, 2016. Trinity, the team that gave up the lead on the miracle shot wound up winning 67-62 in overtime. The miracle shot was only a temporary reprieve for Ballard. I figured Ballard had lost when their fans were willing to post the shot, but not the final score.
