Sorry guys, the video quality is a tad poor this time..... We usually use Taylors iPhone, but as he wasn't present for this one we had to make do with the phones we had to record the night. Poor old Taylor has been suffering with a nasty bit of pneumonia for over a month now, consequently is unable to get out in the cold. 🤕 Get well soon Taylor.... I miss your insults and competitive nature! 😂 But, at the same time, I'm coming for you in 2024......theres no way I'm letting you hog that top spot on the leader board..... especially as it's with a grasshopper!! 😂 😅 🤣

I'm just amazed that out of all the cars we have put around that track, the hopper of all things has posted the best times!. Kinda strange how Tamiyas cheapest and extremely basic kit, running on pogo stick shocks and plastic bushes has risen to the top! Hey Joe.... You know that! Bit of a dark horse that one, and what a gorgeous looking truck. For some reason the monster trucks seem to do very well around here. I think tyres are the fundamental key to success, those monster truck rubbers just seem to get great traction! Also, speed is not your friend around here.... slow and steady wins every time. Hey fella, cheers for watching! Yes indeed..... it seems like the slower 2wd cars seem to fair better around this track! I think a lot of it is down to the tyres, traction is the name of the game on this flat, shiny and hideously slippery surface. The Fazer was IMPOSSIBLE to control! 😂 Weather and dark nights are not on our side currently, but still enjoy getting out even if the conditions are bad.... unfortunately it doesn't give us great picture quality this time of year. Be interesting to see how my RC10 B6. 2 does as we get into spring. I still can't believe the Grasshoppers holding top spot! All the best fella. 😊 👍 👍 👍

Yeah, man, that was exciting! Initially I was surprised it was the monster truck that did so well, but must have been the tyres, just more traction on the wet, and the higher gearing with the big wheels meant less wheelspin, I guess... Throughout the video I kept thinking a 4wd buggy would be the best candidate for this track, so I will be excited to see the mighty Top Force Evo enter the stage and crush everything, ha ha! Great fun as always in your videos, maybe that Thatcher's Katy helped it along, I do love that cider!
Hey Mads!! You hit the nail on the head regarding the gearing and the right sort of tyres! Speed/high torque is your enemy around here, as you waste precious time constantly correcting! That Fazer was a total handful, and had way too much power for those small road tyres. Buggy wise, definitely makes sense man.... the Turbo Optima done well round there last year, but still couldn't touch the Grasshopper! As for the Katy..... Great taste Sir, and very surprised you recognised it/know of it all those miles away! I love a daily cider or two, but ideally they need be around 7-8% alcohol! Cheers for watching bud! 🍻 👍 👍 👍
I am glad you were able to get out and have some fun, too bad it was soaking wet out there and traction was a struggle. The King Blackfoot was the champ of the night for sure, it did not care about the conditions! Sorry to hear Taylor is not feeling well, that sticks! Get well soon Taylor!
Hey mate! It really is quite shocking how slippery that surface is, even in the dry! But, that's the worst I've ever seen it.... it was like driving on ice with the General! Great performance by the King Blackfoot though.... as Mads pointed out- The key to doing well around here is gearing /tyre type. The Grasshopper still stays on top by a long shot! Don't listen to Taylor mate, he is the one who can't spell.... I have to spell check all of our videos before we put them live, sometimes its like working with a primary school kid! 😂 But, he is good at the I. T side of things, and he is a great cook so I will let him off on that comment! 😂 Yes, the king blackfoot wiped the floor with the XVO1 and the Fazer mk2, which is what I expected to be honest. It seems the slower cars with the best tyres out perform anything fast on that shiny, slippery surface..... even the highly acclaimed XVO1 was struggling that night! Hey Dirk! Yes mate, the wet certainly didn't help. Although saying that, the slower cars always seem to do better here! I think a lot of it is down to tyres to, the better the traction, the less time spent correcting! The XV01 would do better without those issues but it looked very quick in places. Haha, the Lee at least had a better stab at it with all 4 tyres on!! One lap you did 13 sec which is bloody quick! Heya Mc Mark! All good fun mate.... Just trying to get out for a sesh in this never ending dark, cold and wet winter! Footage wasn't great quality,neither was the driving! Yes, I've never known the track to be that slippery before, it was nearly impossible for the on road cars. That Fazer is uncontrollable at the best of times so I turned the SDR rate right down..... On that first attempt I couldn't understand why it wouldn't turn properly, until I noticed a tyre was totally off the rim! I expected the XVO1 to do better in all honesty, although he did have a few steering issues on the last 3 laps where the servo wasn't self centering. As for the king Blackfoot.....dark horse for sure, a great 8 laps! Seems as though the key to getting good times around here is suitable grippy tyres and not too much power, slow and steady! Should have lots more cars competing for a place on the board as we go through 2024. Now,i need a cunning plan to knock Taylor off the top! 😂 😅 🤣 Cheers for watching matey. 😊 👍 👍 👍

Slippery mate..... but still fun!! No one can touch Taylors time with the Grasshopper from part 2, he still sits firmly at the top of the leader board with a time of 1.39! Every Little Helps, the issue is also with that carpark as well as the wet and the leaves would be the runner from other tires, you know how cars move around looking for spaces. Other than that, its a belting track, and i suppose in the summer the rubber would be an advantage 👍👍
And that's why mums gone to Iceland!! 😂 Sorry mate, you set me up for that one! 😉 Oh yeah, the dreaded 'fight' to find a space.... we have all been there fella. I like to use the mothers/child parking bays, as they are wider, and it reduces the chance of people scuffing your paintwork as they open their doors. It also leads to some funny confrontations with angry Karen mums driving their Range Rovers... you know the sort. In this 'equal rights' society we live in today, I feel it's prejudice to the people that choose not to have children by forcing us to use the smaller bays....they don't like it when I tell them that! 😂 As for that surface, I've never known anything so slippery, even in the summer when dry. But, with long dark winter nights the Tescos car park is one of the only lit up places we can run. Unfortunately the footage is very grainy, but it's a lot of fun! You are right, cars are getting wider and spaces smaller, I end up parking miles away so my motor doesnt get dinged, but when i come out some mental case usually has parked right next to me 😠

Anyway the obvious winner of a road race is the King Blackfoot 🤣 It was way too slippery for the road cars out there and you were quite brave to send them round with all the hard kerbs to smash into. You would think that in the dry the XV-01 would do well at this. Presumably you've got race sensors in the cars and on the track? Great idea for this sort of thing. Good fun guys. Sound logic there matey! Yep, my money was on the blackfoot to.... slow, steady and lots of grip! Even in the dry the cars with lots of torque and high top end really do struggle on this surface, it's almost as if it's been polished!! Brave or stupid? 😂...... Indeed, and those Kurbs are not very forgiving I can tell you! (you will see that on the previous episodes where I managed to plough the 959 into them! 😂) No race sensors bud, that's way to professional for us.... Just one guy driving, whilst the other guy records with one phone, and logs the laps on another phone! 😂 Not the greatest of picture quality, but this time of year when it's dark after work the lit car park gives us an opportunity to get out and have some fun.... and cobble a bit of content together! Good evening Bob! Yep, a lot of people were surprised mate..... but I said at the start that my money was on the Blacky! It seems the slightly slower cars with the best tyres seem to out perform the faster stuff every time on this track!? 🤔 That King blackfoot is a delightful rig, enough of the original ORV design to keep its blackfoot origin, just with vastly improved suspension and gearbox. Although, I still prefer the body of the original! It's hard to tell just by watching just how slippery that track is bud, it's like driving on a sheet of ice..... The Generals first attempt was a complete embarrassment, but we like to keep it 'real' here at Greenhawks so left it in! Can't believe you gave all those great cars away mate, some real classics there..... I can feel your regret! The lighting and video quality ain't great out there, but its about the only place we can run this time of year as it's pitch black after work, and I work 7 days a week. Cheers Bob, I wasn't expecting to get a better time with King Blackfoot than I did with the XV01. I think I was trying too hard with the XV01 as I wanted it to get a good time, where as I was more relaxed with the Blackfoot and didn't really have high expectations. Plus I think I'm better with a gun controller rather than sticks and I also had a little bash into the curb which knocked the servo saver out of alignment on the XV01. The XV01 Isn't finished on that circuit yet. Need to do a dry run when the weather warms up 😉
@@dazmeister1960 Brother, I started with a stick radio with my Blackfoot (1988), then I got a Kyosho Pulsar pistol radio and never looked back (other than for planes). I use nothing but Futaba radios when I must buy any. Hell Yes, warm, dry weather is a most dude!!
@@UncleBobsRC Yeah my first car was the Original Blackfoot back in 87 or 88 followed by a Terror Scorcher. Always used stick controllers back then. Acoms Techniplus for the Blackfoot and a Futaba Attack R for the Scorcher. But yeah I definitely think I do better with the pistol type.
Hey Fil, cheers for stopping by mate! Yeah, unfortunately the big guys been told to keep out of the cold.... he's had pretty bad pneumonia for at least a month, hence the lack of content. So, myself and another mate filmed this one just before Christmas...... finally managed to get Taylor to edit it up now he's feeling a bit better. Unfortunately the picture quality isn't great as we used our own phones (we usually use Taylors iPhone).... But it was still a fun night, even if we wasn't able to knock Taylors Grasshopper off the top of the leader board! We hope to continue the time trials series as we go into spring, lots more cars waiting to have a go! Watch this space!! 👍 👍 👍

Don't sweat the lack of content, we all go through our phases, and physical health and well being is so important, you've got to put it first. It's a lot of work putting these videos together, editing, creating thumbnails, etc... When you're not feeling good, it can be a daunting task. Drink lots of water, get those vitamins in, and eat good food! And beer, don't forget beer! Hahaha! Cheers dude!

I grew up with Daz in the eighties, we raced rc cars together for many years.... he's totally aware of my unorthodox driving techniques! 😉 I thought I done well, I hit his Dagenham dustbin and avoided my Beema so all good! 👍 Jokes aside, that track was impossible, even the XVO1 done really bad.... second to last on the board. It seems the slow cars with good tyres do better around that track..... hence Taylor being at the top in the Grasshopper, and Daz's King Blackfoot getting to 4th place! @@theoagrc Funny you should say that, I was just talking with Daz about that an hour ago as it goes Craig. That surface up there is bad even in the dry.... It's as if it's been polished! He did clip a Kurb, and had an iffy servo saver for the last 3 laps which certainly didn't help. I think it could get higher up the board, but I don't think it will make top 3 in all honesty. Hopefully I we will get to see moo moos blitzer and Taylor in the speed run tto2 once it's warned up, as these youngsters are allergic to the cold, and scared of the dark! 😂 Also, I will be putting the RC10B62, the Evo, and maybe even the clod to round at some stage. And, Peter Smith is bringing some creations down soon to join us on the board..... watch this space buddy! 👍 👍 👍
Hiya Brad. Yes mate, that's quite an interesting release for sure. Must admit though, I'm more of an 'off roader'.... and generally like the vintage side of things over the modern. Too many good cars out currently, and can't afford them all sadly.... next one to get will be the koswork edition Optima Mid.
