Important notice: If anyone who are going to try this, then check if your ipad is wifi only or wifi + cellular. If it wifi only then dont do this because it does not have gps chip so your car doesnt move in the map and make this whole setup useless. I have tried this idea once but failed miserably coz my ipad was wifi only.

Ooh! I came across this video by accident and it reminded me of when someone installed a first generation iPad in place of the infotainment system in some 90s or 2000s car.
I did similar with a 10.5” pro back in the day. My car needed the built in screen to support charging and preheat etc so couldn’t replace it with something CarPlay compatible. Just made a drop in holder, WAY better
@@shmeleff_ural not just in America, people steel stuff in Europe too. Germany, UK, France etc are perfect example. Has happened to me and my friends. And Asian countries are on a different level lol, japan and South Korea are the only exception.
Hi there, actually My car AC directly flows at the please where the iPad it, so it keeps it cool by design even the iPad doesn't need it, but it is "must have" to have a car with AC unit anywhere to keep it cool on summer. ☀️ Thank you for your comment. 🙌
It’s not a mount. He just took an old iPad folie case and cut away the front cover and use 3M adhesive strips to attach it to his dashboard. Since the folio case attaches to the iPad magnetically this set up works. You just as easily get two magnetic vent mounts and achieve this same effect.

Where do u get the case or how do I get the case to stay in place? Is this a special magnetic back or just the original apple one. I have a 12.9” iPad Pro this would be cool. I know u can get an in dash apple car play featured display radio but figuring out if they’ll fit for the car is the trouble
Hi there, actually original folio case does have a magnets (the magnets are in iPad) so it work out from the box. 🙌 You just need to get a dashboard mount.

Question, I have a mini tablet in my car, WiFi + data. I don't pay for the data plan, but it has the chip. I want to power the data through my iPhone, but not through hotspot, but rather through Bluetooth, like real CarPlay. How can I activate CarPlay on iPad so it mirrors iPhone like CarPlay?
Correct! The iPad is needed just because of the chip, you can use hotspot everytime you get in car - or download offline maps. 🙌 ✨ If you are using iPad, you don't need to mirror enything, iCloud is sharing your data. ☁️
I saw the full video and really love what you did! I was wondering though if you have a solution for hands free calling tied into the iPad? Third party speakers that work nicely in the car/with Siri

way to much information, way too much preparation. The thing about android auto and apple carplay is that you can leave your phone in your pocket and everything starts working straight away when starting the car. I got an Obdpeak T20 in my car and it connects to my phone automatically when I start my car
But aint nobody wana pay $100 extra for another line, plus taxes and fees👍🏽, to get cellular data for carplay🤦🏽♂️. Its $5 a month to personal hotspot off ur phone, just get the wifi version🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
I think you haven’t watched the video at all. Of course you dont need to pay extra monthly payments if hotspot is much cheeper, you need a GPS module iPad to get continuous navigation without interuptions. ✌🏼
